So when I got out of prison and even before I picked up some hero books. While at a half-way house my parole officer revoked me. The owners refused to give me belongings to a friend citing "rent due" even though they hoarded my money in their bank account. So all books, clothes, family photos from prison or brought after disappeared. The point. Going to the LGS here I see some used Hero books...APG 1 & 2. After I pay and have lunch I really look and guess what!! They had been sitting there for 6-7 years. The store had 4 more Hero books and after looking at my store purchases I'm laying odds they were mine too.

Very early AM here. Had an inspiration, working through it, when I hear rumbling outside. Huh...yeah, it's thunder. Look out the front door, to the west and north...stars. Overhead...stars. More thunder...flash of lightning. Oh, it's from the east.... Yep. Cloud bank, kind of hard to see because the contrast is bad, given the low light. Stars to the NE, stars to the south. And cloud-to-cloud lightning to the SE. Mostly...I saw one cloud-to-ground, but cloud-to-cloud several times.

Hello everyone. It has been awhile since I have posted anything here, but I have been working on something inspired by hero system and the champions setting. Since it is not either, I felt it was best to be placed in this section of the forums. I have been working on some interactive fiction. Using Choicescript I have been writing a choose-your-own superhero adventure. The core story is based on a Champions game that I have been running for over five years. It takes place in modern day right as superhumans are first gaining powers. Now to avoid copy right issues with Hero Games I have removed all of their characters and replaced them with my own. I do like to …

No, seriously. I'm watching season 4 of Westworld and this question occurred to me. If someone revealed to you that you weren't "real," what would that really mean to you? This is a group largely populated by SciFi and fantasy readers, so I think we are more prepared to accept fantastic ideas such as this. Between The Twilight Zone and The Matrix (and many other stories besides) I don't find the whole idea so unbelievable as others might. My mom would be truly distressed, probably, but I'm better equipped to deal with such a notion. So really, what would change for you? Would you go on living as you already are, or would things alter…

Consider the following list of Captains from the various Star Trek series: James T. Kirk (The Original Series) Jean-Luc Picard (The Next Generation / Picard) Benjamin Sisko (Deep Space 9) Kathryn Janeway (Voyager) Jonathan Archer (Enterprise) Gabriel Lorca (Discovery) Saru (Discovery) Michael Burnham (Discovery) Carol Freeman (Lower Decks) Dal R'El (Prodigy) Christopher Pike (Strange New Worlds) (One could also include Philippa Georgiou from the first couple of episodes of Discovery if so inclined, but I didn't.) How would you rank these Captains? Top three? One through eleven (or twelve…

So...my "other COVID project" has been restoring an old truck that my dad purchased back in 1984. A 1925 International Harvester Model S Speed Truck, to be precise. All original, but in need of a LOT of love and attention. Replaced the carburetor with a non-original but same era Stromberg SF-1 -- vastly more reliable than the original, which was renowned for cracking and leaking (which it had on multiple occasions). Relined and restored the brakes, retuning all of the mechanical linkages. This was easily the biggest of the jobs we had to perform -- a crazy amount involved there. Re-wired the entirety of the electric system, including the mains (with er…

Ordinarily I post something amusing as one who does not celebrate the American holiday. However there ain't much to laugh at or poke fun at of late. And I seem to have run out of ideas. So for those of you celebrating July 4th, have a safe and healthy day.

Take some alphabet organization from any government or business and give it some new definition. This could or not have any connection with the true meaning for said organization. For example, FBI might be Freedom Bondage International. Each person will need to determine what the given organization is and then state the organization for the next person. First up: CIA

http://www.comicmix.com/columns/2012/07/10/emily-s-whitten-geek-culture-no-really-were-not-more-enlightened/ I think that she makes some really good points. Some of the things she talks about are things that I have seen here on the Hero Boards and in many other geek communities. Enjoy, Tasha --------- Emily S. I'll admit it's not cheap, but I think it may interest some of you. Metal density's something that can come up. I have nothing whatsoever to do with the project, altho I might back it yet. I just think it's a cool visual exemplar.

SLOW!!!!!!!!! WAY back when, I remember getting a notification that I was included as a member of the class, in a class action lawsuit, because I'd purchased a DVD drive. Several, actually, probably. The suit goes back to 2010. Yeah. 2010. I got the first notice and a settlement opt-in. The monetary verdict was decided in 2016. I got the payment set up...an Amazon gift card number will get emailed in the next day or two...*today*. It's about $12, so...not like I can fly to the Bahamas on it..... 12 years to get a case resolved.... We know the only group to make anything of this was the lawyers, and the se…

I am, curious, who owns the rights to the rules and mechanics presented in Fuzion? Are they still avaiable for license (Like Sendoku and Victoriana) or are they locked away forever? Specifically the Fuzion rules presented in Champions New Millenium with all the plug ins, but not the setting (which I assume is now owned by Cryptic Studios).

My friend decided to join Sir Terry on the morning of May 31 2022 - a master of trivia and avid hero games enthusiast. TJack always liked stories and told some to his goddaughter two days ago. He then threatened to tell racy stories about the 14 year old’s mother “when you get to be 18”. TJack humored me. He had created Jack Flash who was Bill Maxwell rejuvenated by the little green guys and given Ralph Hinkley’s supersuit who promptly got lost in the multiverse while testing his powers. I suggested that since Bill Maxwell had lost his Black partner at the FBi and that Robert Culp played Kelly Robinson in I Spy that it would be a cute twist if Bill the FBI…

So, USPS Informed Delivery showed a few things arriving. One was the bill for the blood tests from my annual a few weeks ago. Knew that was likely coming, didn't know when. Another was a check from the state. Huh...did I mess up the state return and miss a deduction? That would be nice... Of course, advance expectation is that the second will be smaller than the first, right? Well...the check was a $250 tax rebate the state's sending to everyone due to the recent economic strains. How nice!! I never knew. Like I said, I suppose I should pay more attention to local news. And even better? The bill was much le…

Andy Fletcher of Depeche Mode has died. Andy and Vince Clarke were the start of the band and then Martin Gore and Dave Gahan joined. After Vince left the songwriting was mainly Martin and Dave. Andy handled things like management which the other members did not want to do. I consider myself fortunate to see them live once. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-61597992 RIP
