Holy Alakazam, it's the Magus University Superdraft! What would a university that instructs in the ways of magic look like? Hogwarts is for kids. Where does star pupil Hermione go after Hogwarts? She could go to Magus University! In this draft you will select professors, departments, students, and more! Inspired more by Unseen University than Hogwarts, this is your chance to exorcise those academic demons and reform them into something productive. Magus University exists in the modern world, though the exact geographic location is unknown (at this point). For this draft you may select real people*. Most selections will be comprised of …

I've been binging on this topic and I want to start a thread to talk about it. For an article: OpenAI’s DALL-E 2 is a new illustration of AI bias - Vox. These programs are similar in a way to Jukebox for music or GPT3 for text. They don't photobash existing pictures, but they draw on patterns they've learned to associate with certain words. And they're fun! just pop in a few words and get instant gratification. I don't have access to Dall-E, but Midjourney just went to open beta, and I've been having fun with that. Questions: Will this be impactful at all? I saw a few musicians 'collaborate' with Jukebox, taking inspiration from Jukebox…

Well since Mr. P kicked off the NFL thread, I'll get the college thread. Preseason polls are about as full of meaningful comments as afternoon talk radio, but still...the preseason picks are Next Verse, Same as the Rest. Bama, Ohio State, Georgia, Clemson. Hey, maybe one of em won't live up to expectations. Asking for 2 of em to fall flat...that's a bridge too far. Scary...the very lightweight first week...even called "Week 0" in the schedule on si.com...has 10 games, largely non-entities...and it's Aug. 27th. GAH!!!! Not ready for football. Nevada's actually coming down to play the Aggies that weekend. No game time listed yet..…

Manga has lost one of its giants with the death of Space Opera legend Leiji Matsumoto. His best-known creations are the legendary space pirate/rebel Captain Harlock, the pioneering Space Battleship Yamato (one of the first anime series to be released in the US, under the title Star Blazers) and the proto-transhumanist fantasy Galaxy Express 999. He also created the music video series Interstellar 5555 for Techno masters Daft Punk. He was known for his distinctive art style with languid lines contrasting with detailed and realistic technology, his controversial relationship with war (to this day his film The Cockpit is banned in much of the world), and his po…

The Article At The New Republic Saw this on Facebook and thought I'd pass it along. Seems to me this would make an excellent refuge for someone who really wanted or needed to stay hidden. Could be really great as a setting in Champions, Dark Champions, or Pulp Hero. Or maybe someone here needs to really stay hidden. . .

So, we're planning on hitting the UK in September for a vacation (details as to when exactly and how long are still up in the air). Probably London will be where we're staying (not sure where specifically)... ...now we just need to figure out what we're gonna do! Hubby is a big proponent of Doing Things We Can't Do In The States, so, while museums aren't bad options, he wants to know what else? We're thinking about visiting the Eye. I am insisting on hitting St John for dining one night. Any other restaurants worth checking out? A friend suggested taking a bus to Stonehenge, then visiting Bath afterwards. …

Why not give this its own thread, since their season starts today. Better here than cluttering up the NFL thread. Mind, I'm not all that likely to pay any attention to it until after March Madness, but hey...

Domains of Influence. These are special realms of control and responsibility for which you are known and prayed to. You will have one primary domain and three secondary domains. Four episodes in, we're on the verge of dropping Star Trek: Discovery from our lineup. The two-episode series opener was good, but the next two episodes revealed those episodes to be the bait for a switch to something else entirely. As a recent fan of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, my only remaining question is whether the inclusion of Christopher Pike makes Discovery S2 worth watching. If you're a fan of SNW, what's your opinion? Is Discovery S2 worth watching for Pike even if we don't care about the other Discovery characters or their storylines?

"I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me." Thanksgiving and Christmas have come and gone. We've spent the last few weeks being nice, in the interest of peace on Earth and good will toward mankind. Now it's time to be naughty. For this month's Superdraft, we'll be choosing a team of villains. This will be a dark reflection of the Five Man Band trope (details below). All character picks are exclusive, and all the usual rules for drafting characters will apply. You will make a total of 12 picks in this draft: Location: This is the physical setting for the story. T…

So, the Eagles completed their beatdown, the postgame coverage has run its usual course. Local news comes on. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Story about the funeral of the former El Paso police chief's memorial and funeral...he died unexpectedly at 71. Memorial...yeah, cool Graphic showing the actual funeral service...to be held at Evergreed East funeral home..... Oh dear...and that graphic wasn't spur of the moment, this wasn't a breaking story or anything.

These boards were my first really internet community in the late 90s and early 00s. My old handle was was just Rick, or maybe mudorian it's been some time. I've been running Hero 5th edition since the original book was released and I bought FRed (was active on the thread that name was coined in too). I played 4th edition through most of the 90s before that Last year I FINALLY dragged my ass over to 6th Edition (purchasing the core books). Besides changing from inches to meters (easy fix on my own) and some weird naming changes, I LOVE It! Supporting this company has become important to me, again, so I just joined the patreon and bought the champio…
