Hey there guys. I seem to have failed my PER roll and my Hobby Skill (HERO RPG) roll. Because of that, I would appreciate it if someone could point me towards the relevant 6e (or 5e, if it is the only option available) rules for duels between gunfighters.

Every year, on January 1st, my group does a long one-shot game. This year, with all the excitement over "Skyfall", I decided to run a Danger International/Spy game. It's clearly a team dynamic, so, more like "Sneakers" or the "Mission Impossible" tv series than James Bond. My questions are around character creation and team roles. I want each character to feel unique, but I want to ensure that they have input into character creation as well. All THAT being said, I also want it to be modular. This is where I am headed and the input I need. Basic Training Characteristics - Package Deal/Template - The minimum stats for passing basic training. Basic Training Sk…

Some time ago I was looking through the Dark Champions book at the modern profession Package Deals, and noticed a glaring omission -- the Astronaut. I thought this was a really interesting career choice for player characters, that could provide a cross-over possibility with Star Hero plots. I did research on Wikipedia and the NASA website, and came up with my own Package Deal. I just noticed it went down with the Vault, and re-uploaded it. Astronaut Package Deal

I am playing Shadows of the City and one of the character, a local police detective in hudson city, decided to ask his dept for firepower help in busting a big drug cargo in the docks. Considering I live in anotehr country () all this local/federal/national overlapping of duties is making my head spin. Armed vigilantes using non conventional weaponry are wiping out the major drug dealers in the city. On top of my mind I guess ATF (for the weaponry), DEA (for drugs) and local police powers could be involved. I have seen some action movies myself but I wonder - would the local police actually ASK DEA for help in the drug bust or they would prefer to keep it for their…

There is a subgrnee of stories (mostly on television, many animated) in which teenagers are recruited into international espionage work and prove to be extraodinarily good at it. I don;t have Dark Champions yet, but since that seems to be the de fact source material for espeionage campaigns of all sorts, can the teen-spy camaign be handled well and how well would ti work. Aside from which, I'm wondering what people would rather see their camapigns inspired by: Kim Possible or Totally Spies!?

To me I always assumed that Street level hero was synonymous with normal human characters i.e. Batman and Punisher. U was given by a friend a trade paper back of Iron Fist and Power man awhile ago and the light bulb clicked that you can have street level heroes who are powered too. So looking up on the net, I got a small list as follows: Spiderman Daredevil Power Man Iron Fist Moon Knight Misty Knight Are there any others? Thanks (p.s. This is going to be used with DC:TAS, that might have a bearing on choices)

I was just wondering if people are converting the Dark Champions (I also include in that - Hudson City, Dark Champions: The Animated Series, and Urban Fantasy) to the 6th Editon rules - or are they just keeping with the 5th Edition rules? I started Hero System with the 6th Edition rules but I did purchase the 5th Editon rules in both book and .pdf form. I was wondering how I should run it - but 5th or 6th editon rules. Thanks Todd

What makes for a memorable criminal in a Dark Champions setting, especially those that involve masked heroes? Do they have to have powers and abilities? Can they get by with odd motivations alone? What makes for an "uncommon" criminal? What are some you have faced as players or created as GMs that you feel were a cut above so-called "common" criminals?

I am gonna post that random kickin art that just feels like DC in this thread. Unlike my fantasy thread, this one won't get nearly so many posts but hopefully it will still prove useful to the Dark Champions games out there. Link 1: Need a little voodoo magic to straiten your players? This guy can deliver.

Recently, I found a DVD of a late 1980's cartoon I used to love called C.O.P.S. Set in the near future, the title is an acronym for the "Central Organization of Police Specialists," a group of police officers culled from around the country, all specialists in one or more areas of policework, to help take down a gang of crooks led by the Edward G. Robinson-ish Big Boss. In watching the series, I suddenly realized that C.O.P.S. might be a good idea for a DC:TAS campaign. Below is a write-up of team leader B.P. "Bulletproof" Vess. Vess is an F.B.I. agent called into help the Empire City Police stop Big Boss's gang, but he's nearly killed while trying to stop them. But a …

We're building out a new Urban Fantasy Monster Hunter campaign based in part on my old Demon Hunter: FBI setting from the Haymaker and EZHero days, and influenced heavily by the recent novel Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia. Here is the site: Here There Be Monsters. UPDATE: The site is fully fleshed out with Origins, custom Abilities and Powers such as Hex, Intervention, Invocation, Exorcism, and Supernatural Suppression, 40 sample starting characters across the five Origins of Believer, Mystic, Psychic, Innati, and Professional, 20+ NPCs (and growing), 3 "Vignette" adventures with character writes ups and plot-lines, and sundry other thin…

Inspired by a certain recurring story coincidence in a favorite crime drama. Note that this only keeps the conversation going; actually making someone discuss what you want them to is up to you and your Interaction Skills. Actually, You Are Talking: Mind Control 5d6 (25 base points); Invisible Power Effects (inobvious power fully invisible, including to target, +1), Reduced Endurance (0 END, +1/2), Telepathic (+1/4), Trigger (triggered when someone insists they're not talking; activating trigger takes no time, trigger resets automatically, character does not control activation of personal Trigger, +3/4) (87 Active Points); Does Not Grant Mental Awareness (-1/4), No C…

When running a Dark Champions campaign, many of the enemies are underworld crime bosses. So how many crime bosses are good to have? One "Kingpin" type that rules over the crime of the city like a monarch, or a multitude of bosses that each control a little piece of the underworld? Or something in between, like a small oligarchy of a few bosses? What do you prefer?

In the TV show Grimm, monsters are able to look like normal people until they manifest their true natures. Buffy:TVS had a similar thing going on with vampires. I've been wondering how to portray two things as game effects: the ability of monsters to pass as normal people, and the ability of some humans to either detect them or even see their true natures. "Hidden Monsters" is my working title for a campaign of hunters versus monsters that are able to disguise themselves as regular people. The most points-intense way I could think to portray this would be to give every "monster" race a Shape Shift ability that allows them to pass as human. Perhaps it shuts …

Recently I've been on a kick for a more atmospheric roleplaying environment for my group. It has come to my attention that having things like appropriate music would do wonders and help keep attention to the game if applied correctly. Using the setting book Hudson City, I've come to wonder what songs would be appropriate. So far, however, I have a playlist that has 109 songs (as of 9/10/2010) in it. If anybody has suggestions as to what music would be appropriate for what I would call quintessential Dark Champions (like God intended) I'm all ears. I'll be regularly posting additions to the list as I deem necessary. Any help would be heavily appreciated.

Are there any somewhat/more in-depth rules for parachuting? I would adopt Spycraft 2.0's rules on them, but if something already exists for HERO 5e/6e, i'd rather take a look at that first...who knows, it may end up being what I need!

Putting together my games for Origins and I need a decent map of a waterfront warehouse. I've got the software to use even a halfway decent one as a baseline for a custom piece, but I need some inspiration.
