From http://www.notrly.com/jackbauer/ 1. After the Fall, Jack Bauer quipped "Better to reign in CTU than serve in division." His wit appreciated, Bauer received the honor of murdering Chapelle as a reward. 2. God created the universe in 6 days. That’s 5 days 23 hours and 59 minutes longer than it took Jack Bauer to create God. 3. To prove a point, Jack Bauer lit Schindler’s actual list on fire. 4. The Drill Sergeant speech in "Full Metal Jacket," was actually based on Jack Bauer's first communion poetry reading. 5. Hector Salazar was the only person to survive (temporarily) after having received one of Jack's false "I give you my word" ass…

Hello all- I created a login to talk to you guys, I've played HERO a bit but never been on these boards before (other than to lurk and browse). I wanted some feedback on a campaign concept that's been wandering about my head for a few weeks. I've found a few players who expressed an interest so I figure it's time to start laying the foundation. My basic concept is a modification of the Shadowrun world, with cybertechnology, huge megacorps, and general dystopian societal backdrop with supers appearing as mutants (as in X-men, etc.) For those of you familiar with Shadowrun, I will not be including magic (unless we're talking mutant powers that manifest as "magic"…

One of the most hotly anticipated films of the year is coming out next week: Martin Scorcese's The Departed, a tale of deceit and betrayal in the Boston mob that was inspired by a true story (and became a very famous Hong Kong gangster film as well). The setup is that a young cop (played by Leonardo DiCaprio, the former pretty-boy who has become one of Scorcese's favorite actors) is sent to infiltrate the organization of Boston crime lord Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson) -- who has, in turn, sent his own mole into the task force investigating him. DiCaprio's character, to carry out his mission, must ingratiate himself with the brutal, charismatic gangster by any means…

In my Victorian Hero game, my players are going to be going the gothic monster-hunter route. One of them is a weaponsmith/marksman, and we decided to give him the ability to improve firearms as a power, but I don't know quite how to get what I want. How do I create the following power: +1 DC, +1 OCV, +1 vs. penalties, requires an existing firearm to modify. He may also have the ability to make rounds armor piercing, add range, or do a variety of other things (I'm open to suggestions here) to weapons, so please suggest ideas and builds as appropriate. Thanks!

On page 192 of DC there is an example of blowthrough. "Firefight's attack roll succeeds. His handgun does RKA 2d6 damage. The GM rules the door has 2 DEF, 2 BODY. Firefight rolls RKA 1d6 and gets 4 BODY -- just enough for blowthrough! Firefight's target takes the full 4 BODY damage..." This makes no sense at all. What happened to the other 1d6? Why wasn't it rolled? I would have expected RKA 2d6 to be rolled, divided by two and compared to 4. Then if it got blowthrough, the damage would be the sum of both dice. I don't see an errata page for Dark Champions, so I wonder if the book is really correct.

I have been a big fan of the A-10 Warthog ever since I was a boy, part of the allure being its big freaking auto-cannon, the GAU-8 Avenger. A seven barrel, 30mm Gatling-style rotary cannon with a top rate of fire of 3,900 rounds per minute. I would like to include this aircraft in a game, and I want to get the cannon right, but I can't find anything that seems right. Such a high rate of fire would translate into a ridiculous Auto-Fire, and would require a lot of PSL's to compensate for the OCV penalties. I thought about consolidating many individual rounds into one, more powerful, "attack", so that it could just be autofire x5, but that doesn't seem quite right, eithe…

Is there a document somewhere that tells me what district or map segment buildings mentioned in the HC book are located in? For example, there is a large list of newspapers but the descriptions of the papers don't say where they are located. Right now I'm specifically looking for the location of the Hudson City Mirror. Perhaps they aren't even placed on a map.

why, you ask, would an anime comedy go in the DC forum? Genre; it's a cop show. I am trying to write up the cast of You're Under Arrest, the Kajishima series about the lives and loves of Tokyo policewomen at a preceint full of eccentrics. There are some things that have been easy to model, but some are a bit tougher. so i thought i would ask for help, especially regarding super-skills. some examples of abilities that fall under those headings: Miyuki's ability to take anything that has wheels and an engine and make it perform far beyond its normal capacity (she's even souped up her partner's moped, and I have a hard time imagining how one could do that…

In the on line guide to Hudson City neighborhood Reference it list Crown point (Ashwood) as the gay part of town, but in the Hudson City Hotel,Bar, and Restaurant. It's does not list one gay bar in the whole city. As a gay gamer, I am just wondering why?

I ran across this site while looking for some data, I thought it makes a pretty good reference for running a game in a country other than your own. I thought this was the most likely forum for interest in this. Lots of details including the national anthem, monetary system, political system, population distribution etc. http://www.nationsencyclopedia.com/

This is a character based on the real-life killer Nevada-tan. She's built as a Skilled Normal. Background: In 2004, an eleven-year-old Japanese schoolgirl murdered a classmate. Her name was never released to the public, known as "Suspect A" officially and "Nevada-tan" elsewhere. She is, officially, still in prison. Unofficially, though, she escaped in June 2007 with another delinquent, and, after stealing some money, she went to the yakuza to pay for passports. When she learned they only had enough money for one passport and one plane ticket, she murdered her accomplice and quietly fled to the United States as Sakura Hazumi, going to Hudson City to meet her gran…

I am currently putting together a spread sheet to use as a quick reference for landmarks and services, shopping and "on the Town" locations by neighbourhoods. I am using Microsoft Excel for it and wonder if anyone has something like that for the NPC's of Hudson City or done this before. I know Hero Games personnel are on the site often. If you have any ideas, suggestions or restrictions on such a spreadsheet, I would like to hear. If you would like a copy, talk to me and I will wait until I hear from Hero Games on if I can spread it around. I would like to trade it for maybe a spreadsheet on NPCs in Hudson as that will be my next project. Thanks for any id…

I'm running a Firefly campaign, and to encourage a more cinematic mindset I've decided to experiment with the Luck Chit system as used by RDU Neil in his "Secret Worlds" campaign. However, as thoroughly as I've (attempted) to search through his Secret World campaign logs, Reboot and Original, I cannot actually find an explanation of the fullness of the system. I've found explanations of individual parts or references to particular instances, but not the entirety of the system. I've sent RDU Neil a message, but either he's busy/hasn't received it/hasn't noticed it (I've done that enough times, Lord knows), and so in the meantime I've just been winging it. Do…

On the online resources sub-forum (http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71524), I'm working on building a city for 1.5" minis, I'm cross-posting this on the Champions, Dark Champions, and Space Hero forums, in case anyone has been looking for this type of resource and hasn't known it existed. These pictures are of someone elses city, not mine, By the way, they are to show an example of what they say can be done, I'm in no way an artist, so if I can do this, anyone can.

I was going to write this up as a mega-post, but the idea was so obvious to me that I felt sure it's been done before. I'm certainly not going to use it in my current DC game, as it's just too offensive to a few of my best gaming pals. Okay... Look at the Catholic calendar. Full of the dates on which saints were martyred. Our killer finds a pure soul, waits until the Feast of a given martyr and kills them in the fashion that the saint in question died. Now... I'm sure it's been done, but I couldn't find a source. Clue me in. Is it an original idea, or unintentioned plaigarism?

C'mon, people, I know you've all seen Unbreakable. I know you've read the Dark Knight graphic novel and paged through Watchmen. You may even have glanced at The Sandman collection. And I know you wouldn't be cruising this forum if the street-level struggle to bring hope out of hopelessness didn't appeal to you down on some shadowy level of your soul. In Arkana City, hell is called the Barrows. Things are bad there, but what's worse is that some Barrows-dwellers consider damnation business as usual. Innocent is another word for victim, and trust is for fools and dead men. Hope is barely a memory. You'd have to be crazy -- or damned yourself -- to try and make a…

Hey Gang, I was wondering if anyone had ever tried to do a game where the PCs are constantly on the run... You could do it like Prison Break, which has, through stretching credulity a little, managed to keep a cluster of characters together. Or, if it were a solo game (I'm led to believe these exist) you could do something like The Fugitive (a great show that I'm renting because it was before my time). So anyone ever used this model? So many games have the: incident, investigation, fight of some sort, resolution structure that I constantly think about other ways to do things.

Dumb, but bold. I mention this as it, or something like it, could be used in a campaign. Especially if it's a "Caper" campaign (see D.C. page 10-11). It's not as high-tech as some capers, but it's a good idea seed.
