Greetings everyone. I'm looking to get some opinions on a power construct (listed below). Basically, does it look like it will do what I have written, and/or did I miss anything (or, is there anything I can remove)? Thank you. Feat Of Healing: A sure sign of Sidhe blood, this feat allows the character to be healed by sword (or other weapon) blows taken in combat. There is one catch however; it only works on every other blow, meaning the character will be healed, harmed, healed, harmed (and so on) in a battle. This feat carries over from fight to fight, so the player needs to keep track of how the last blow the character took affected him. Healing BODY 8d…

Hy to all, this is my second post to these boards. I'm running my first campaign with Hero, a FH campaign. I've come up with a third way of calculate the Aveage DEF of a suit of sectional armor. It consist on an weighted average of the def provided by the variuos sections. The Weights are those of the DEF = 4 Colunm / 10, for every location. This is based upon this consideration. A Set of armor which provides def 4 on all locations weights 10.00 KG, so you can use the weight of that type of armor to represent the part of the body covered by the armor. Surely you can even do this with some other proportion, as: Sum of ((Weight of al…

Dispel Teleport 30d6, MegaScale (1" = 1 km; +1/4), Area Of Effect Nonselective (One Hex; +1/4), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2), Persistent (+1/2) (225 Active Points); OAF Immobile (-2), Independent (-2), No Range (-1/2) Say you stick this thing at the center of a town or city, what other avenues of attack are available. Would this shut down the average teleport-crazy wizard in most FH games? I must know.

Natural Obstacles

In my latest session I was once again eminded us GM's cannot underestimate everyday nature as a challenge to our travelling PC's. On my map on the way to the Magical Wizard Tower (how old sschool is that!!??) I had put a river in the way. Hadn't really thought too much about it when i prepared the map but as this island had no trees along the banks of the river or in its mountain commencement point there were no logs or sticks for them to make a raft etc. Also it was the middle of winter and while the river was running shallow it was bedded with slippery stones. Anyone took about 45 mins of real time for them to figurre out alternatives to get across (…

Greetings, Steve. I would like to emulate D&D 3rd edition's Spell Resistance using HERO. What powers would I use? I was thinking Dispel that could only be used as a reaction to any "magic" powers directed at the character. How would I be able to do that using HERO? I was thinking of applying Damaging Shield with the limitation: Can only be used with Damaging Shield. However, don't you have to make an attack roll for that? How would you handle such a power, Steve?

Would it be simply too much power for characters to take a Magic Mutliplier for their campaign and then be able to build power Frameworks such as a Multipower within that framework? I'm trying to model the effect of a wizard who has a basic attack spell with many variations on it, such as fireballs that do different things depending on the user's intent.

i have a question on taking damage or even stacking it. Does damage stack when you take damage in an area like your arm or shoulder? For example getting hit by an arrow? if you take body do you get negative modifiers stacked on? Is there a table in the fantasy hero book? i didnt see one but curious?

One thing I've been wondering is how a sword beign sharper than a normal sword affects the damage it does? Particularly if the sword gets sharper all the time as it is affected by the magic that makes it extra-sharp? In hsort, is there a real upper limit to the DC even a magic sword can have?

I've had a few weird spell concepts in my time, and I was wondering what kind of weird spell concepts people have come up with, and whether they've actually built them. Here are some of my stranger ideas and the intended effects. I don't know how these spells would work and some are, frankly, impossible. but they might show up in some mad wizard's grimoire.... 1. Every evil witch knows the spell to turn princes into frogs. what about a spell that will turn a frog -- any frog -- into a prince? what happens if it's cast indiscriminately and there's suddenly a surplus of princes? 2. I once imagined a spell to Create Infinite Pizza. Casting this spell would create a…

It's pretty obvious how to handle immunity, but what about resistance? Poison I am not so concerned about, as poisons generally affect everyone, some survive and some don't, but everyone suffers (unless they're immune). Disease however is a different story. People can encounter a virus once, not be affected, only to encounter it again a year later and get sick. Diseases in Hero are typically modeled as NND Drains and NND RKAs. This results in everyone being affected everytime. Imposing a Resistance Roll seems appropriate, but does it make sense in terms of doing things hero-style. So, what do you guys think? What's the best approach?

Tracking Damage

Hi guys, in my game I keep the players damage to each location noted on my DM Laptop and roll the damage dice from their hits and mine giving them descriptions. What do others do or feel about keeping most of the rolls (including some skill rolls) for the DM , how do others keep track of damage or do they even use location rules?

I could have sworn at one point I saw an entry in FH that had stats for mundane NPCs, like "town guardsmen" and so on. Or am I misremembering things? I can't find these guys anywhere in FH! Arrgggh! Going crazy? What am I thinking of? Where those stats really in FH (what page?) or in another book? Thanks in advance! James

Tricks, Traps and Puzzles
by Guest taxboy4- 8 replies

Hi Guys - I'm continually searching the Net (my imagination ran out long ago) for Tricks, Traps and Puzzles to challenge my Players. All GM's know how much satisfaction the Players get from besting a riddle or difficult trap. In fact on my adventure tomorrow, I've set up a room lined with mirrors and with mirrors on the ceiling with a pedastal in the middle of the room with a key on it. There is no trap but it will drive the Players crazy as they try to prepare for each possibility..paranoia is alive and well.. Anyway has anyone out there got some favourites tricks etc they have used or websites detailing more of he same? Cheers Baz

I don't normally post "what do you want to see?" threads about things like setting books, since they're not usually useful for such things. But Mike B. suggested that the fans might like to chime in on The Turakian Age, which I'm currently working on, so I thought, "Hey, sure, why not?". To (theoretically) save time and effort, let me briefly describe TA so you'll have some understanding of what the book is. The Turakian Age is our first FH setting book. The setting in question is a High Fantasy one in the classic gaming mode. Magic is fairly plentiful, there are god who interfere in the affairs of mortals, there are lots of monsters to kill, treasure abounds, and c…

I like Slayers for a lot of reasons. one of them is that they had a really cool concept of a race of demons called "mazoku", which simply means "demon" in Japanese (they are referred to as "Monsters" with a capital M in the sub to distinguish them from such "mundane" monsters as trolls and berserkers. Collectively they are reffered to in the dub as "the Monster Race".) Mazoku live off pain, anguish and suffering. it's their food. But their natures and personalities are as variable as those of people. They are evil only because they are in opposition to the needs of humans, and some are more vil than others. Mazoku has astral bodies rather than phsyical ones, and whoi…

Well, having posted what turned out to be a surprisingly robust thread on the /best/ heroic fantasy, now I'm curious as to what you folks think of as the /worst/ heroic fantasy ever. Though that might be a very long list, I will narrow it down by asking that you not post the 'cheese' -- the stuff that is bad but in a good way (i.e., no MST3K material). I'm asking for the just plain *bad* -- the books that you either tossed in the direction of the nearest trashcan or that made you want to track the author down to demand he return the hours you put into reading the book or seeing the movie.
