I'm trying to think of the best way to model the spell Page Bound Epiphany from Pathfinder for a Hero mage. The special effect (which I love) is as follows: In Pathfinder, the spell gives +1 to knowledge skills per round you continue reading, up to a maximum of +10. But I'm not sure that fully reflects the description of the spell (which may reveal knowledge you didn't previously have at all), and also plays badly from a mechanics point of view with a lot of Hero magic systems as skill levels are wildly imbalanced in power frameworks. Any neat ideas, hive mind?

I have been making sample characters for the Deities from my notes that you people have graciously been helping me out with. But now I come to a conundrum, How much should a starting PC or NPC spend on Contact (the church). Organization adder is a given, good relations etc. By the time I am done it is a 15 point expenditure. Since I plan for 125 - 150 for starting people, that is a lot of points. My question is--- am I going too big, or is that a good base amount?

I threatened a long time ago to run a Pulp Fantasy game. Recently, since I can't find my copy of the original Fantasy Hero, I've been creating fantasy characters using Justice Inc. It's easy, except for Disadvantages. That's the bit that takes time and thought. Disregarding edition issues, I need to be able to suggest appropriate Disadvantages and Complications in a way that allows characters to be built very quickly. So that's my question: how do you point new players at a disadvantage set that doesn't result in them sitting about scratching their heads?

A French project to build a Castle from scratch, has been proceeding now for 25 years. They estimate they have about 10 years to go for completion. Their concept was to start in 1229, and proceed year by year. They also estimate that it would have taken less time to have done it in the 1200s.

Aaron Allston in his campaign had a group called the Blood. It was a means to add to the backstory of a few of his PCs. Basically they were humans that were magically mutated and thus became the ruling class of their pre historic tribe. When the tribe left earth, the Blood were set up as the nobility. (oh and it breeds true--- a Human/ Blood pairing is a Blood) As far as abilities, 15 str 20 dex 15 con 6 pd as base 6 ed as base 4 Spd X Ray vision Flight or Tport EB or RKA at 40 AP So have any of you ever had a similar group in your campaign? …

Has anyone playing FH managed to come up with a racial package deal that would allow GMs or their players to write up hobgoblin characters for their campaigns as well as for the background setting of said campaigns? I'm asking because in recently reading through my copy of FH, I couldn't find such a deal for hobgoblins, whereas there were such things for those races which are typical adversaries of fantasy adventurers. So, one of the classic items in any setting with extraordinary abilities, whether it is fantasy, sci-fi, or superheroes, is a bag of holding. An extradimensional pocket where you can put stuff, and it is either weightless, or has a drastically reduced weight, and the inside of the bag is far bigger than the outside. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any power in HERO that lets you do something like that. So, I'm asking the hivemind, how would you make a bag of holding?

Just out of curiosity, what kind of character adaptations have you done for your respective Fantasy Hero scenario(s)? If so, who? I noticed there are various postings in D&D homebrew forums featuring adaptations from Magic: The Gathering such as Nicol Bolas (Elder Dragon/Planeswalker) and even Star Wars with a fantasy version of Darth Vader (see below), and was wondering if others were doing something similar in Fantasy Hero. 🤔

My recent ruminations has been about the magic granted to priest of the various deities of my world. I have in all cases been looking for a very plug and play type of set up. I have a traditional mage type in the form of Metier magic, a more primitive, primal Totemic magic, a source for all those magical toys from Runecrafting. Now how to make divine magic seem different. One thing I wanted was that each deity had its own special purview or portfolio. Also I wanted to get away from every cleric having access to the same spell list, but all everyone wants is the heal spells. So to Killer Shrike I go for some inspiration... What is this? Domains. Spells that are org…

What the title says. I am contemplating using this in relation to Divine Magic as a way for the user to get some spells for cheap while still getting decent effects. But I want to know, IF you used it, what were were any advantages or disadvantages / suggestions for it?

There have been several fan write-ups of Robert E. Howard's Conan the Barbarian for D&D, so here's my interpretation of the famous character synonymous with the sword and sorcery genre for Fantasy Hero. Included is the Hero Designer file, Adobe pdf, and Microsoft Excel to use, edit, and print as you see fit. Enjoy! 🙂

Without a big debate - What is your Magic system of choice and what do you normally cap the AP at overall for PCs buying spells?

Recently, I came across a Kelek action figure on display from the Dungeons & Dragons toy series and got inspired to do a character write-up using the statistics adapted from The Shady Dragon Inn module. I used Fantasy Hero (3rd Edition rules) with 75 points as base, 75 points of Disadvantages, and went from there. Below is the link to the WinZip file that contains the Hero Designer file, Adobe pdf, and Microsoft Excel version to edit and/or print. Enjoy! 😉

The tomb of an ancient Hero is outside the city. Not only is he buried there, so is his mount or vehicle. I can't quite decide whether to give him just his horse, or go with a pair of horses and a chariot. And maybe his driver (a lesser hero/sidekick). Naturally there is a chance of him coming back to life. I'd go with the chariot option on aesthetic grounds, but it makes the tomb larger, and chariots are a pain to run. What would you choose, and why?

Your spellcaster encounters someone with, say, schizophrenia. How would they help them? Give them Dried Frog pills? Exorcise the evil spirits possessing them? Something something move healing energies around... No treatment. The prophetic visions are worth it. No treatment. Confine or supervise them as gently as possible. No treatment. Get them a Vagabond's License and pray they don't harm themselves or others, or be harmed. Cast a blah blah Transform blah blah blah spell. Incinerate them with your Fire Magic. "Healing Flames? That will do the trick!" Something else. Obviously, this relates to how magic …

Aerelios is not on the coast where the Gefting Sea empties into the Kulana River, but rather a few kilometers inland. The river at this point is about five (5) kilometers wide, allowing for communication between the East and West parts of the city by ferries that operate day and night (night being more expensive and restricted for safety reasons). There are docks on both sides, with a restricted dock further up the city on the East side for the supply of warships the city can call on. This is also where the barracks for those soldiers living in town are located. As well it has very simple accommodations for warriors visiting and staying for a limited time. …
