175 point starting characters. The book is probably a week or more till delivery (standard shipping). My only real problem is I hate running standard gun toting characters. Champions is the only Hero system I've played in. What have you done to make your Pulp character to stand out? I saw a space hero example with 6 points towards a 4 STR Telekinesis. That's somewhat different. I was thinking of summoning a shield, no focus, but paying END to summon it. I didn't want an activation roll, but I did want it to be ineffective vs attacks from behind (kind of a mystical protection). and maybe a small multi-power, with a shield bash, and a ranged attack …

Just so you know, I’m from a Champion’s background, and I’ve yet to receive my Pulp Hero Sourcebook. So it’s a bit difficult to cross the genre line. In my eagerness, I’m trying to make a pulp character with no resources whatsoever. This is my first attempt. It’s OK, be brutal. Until I get the book, I have no idea what I am doing. The Shield Jim Garrison grew up in his beloved San Francisco. Stories of adventure, pirates and buried treasure filled his youth. The Great War called him, and Jim served as an officer in the navy. He fought in a number of fierce battles, and even saw action ashore. Discharged with honors, Jim stayed at sea, serving as naviga…

Black Manta. Pretty much a normal guy with a sub, an evil crew, and a bit of powered armor. Doctor Octopus: Perfect mad scientist type. Runs with minions and written right can take the whole party on in a spectacular boss fight. great episodic villain. The Red Skull: This guy screams pulp fiction. nazi minions. elaborate plots. Mojo JoJo. OK, he will need to be renamed and go to a speech therapist. But a mad scientist ape is a great visual. and giant robots were a part of pulp sci-fi. You could replace him with Gorilla Grodd, but I just like saying Moooojo JoJo! Man-Bat. Batman's old foe. He would make a great tormented minion, performing criminal…

NBC's "The Cape" seems after the first episode a update of the Masked Crime Fighter genre of the pulp era. I had to strain out some pulpy bits. So far I like the show, hope the writing and action continues to be good.

I'm thinking of creating a pulp fiction setting that has some of the feel of Call of Chuthulu and Brian Lumley's vampire books, set in England of the 30's, 40's, or maybe the late fifties early sixties. I'm at a bit of a loss on where to start researching this idea. Does anyone have any suggestions?

While looking up something else today I ran across mention of an intruiging-sounding Charlton Heston movie, Secret Of The Incas, that was influential on the Indiana Jones series. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secret_of_the_incas Sadly, this film doesn't seem to be available on DVD. Anyone out there have a copy?

I'm not sure where would be best to post this bet thought that the people that frequent this forum would be the most likely to have relevant information; so here's to hoping. ^^ I am currently trying to look up some 'forgotten' peoples and languages of the Arabian peninsula. Something that I could hopefully blend into a origin story for a character that I'm writing up. Unfortunately, my knowledge of this area and its rather ancient (especially less well known) history is quite week. Thus I am calling out for some assistance. Anyone know of ancient peoples and languages that existed in Arabia some 3k+ years ago? In some ways I'd prefer a people that didn't speak a se…

My annual All-Stars convention game this year returns to its pulp roots, with a sequel to the original "Volcano Master!" In 1935, a mysterious planet appeared in the solar system, apparently on a collision course with Earth! Panic spread across the globe, but when the expected collision did not occur and the planet mysteriously "vanished," the whole affair was dismissed as a hoax and several astronomers' careers were ruined. Now months later the planet has reappeared! What's going on? Doc Savage, the Shadow, Tarzan, Mandrake, "Flying" Jenny Dare and Click Rush the Gadget Man assemble to address "The Rogue Planet Crisis!!!" Featuring the usual assortment of fiendish villai…

Secret bases make good places to strike from, but someone has to build them, and man them, and strike from them. Though the Sinister Skull is an evil genuis even he can't be everywhere at once. In the last few days I've been seeing what I can recall regarding the acronyms for gadgets found at Project Onomatopoeia in the "Golden Age Champions"/"Golden Age Of Champions" supplement(s). So far I have been able to remember the K-BOOM device (K36-ite Bomb Of Outrageous Magnitude)...But that is about it. As I do not have my copies at hand (Me = Alaska - Them = Arkansas) I was hoping someone here might be able to tell me what the acronym for the DOGFACE powered armor meant.... Thanks. -Carl-
