have to say, I wasn't to thrilled at first with a lot of the initial casting. Not sure why, I suppose I was just visualizing things a touch differently, and it seemed they were trying to toss in to much Xena into my REH..... However, with the recent passing of Frazetta, and going over a lot of the great Art the man produced, I couldn't help but notice when the pics of Jason Momoa started to come out as Conan, (And I defended his casting as Conan to more then a few people telling them to wait and see...)... I have to say....Dude looks like he stepped off a Frazetta Painting.....which works for me. So far really the best thing the nit pickers can Pick …

Most of the items in this list (complete with pictures!) are from the Twenties and Thirties, making them perfect fodder for Pulp-era gadgeteers and GMs: Strange Inventions

So I'm thinking about downsizing my RPG collection a bit, and I have a copy of Pulp Hero in the limited hardcover print run they did. I'm thinking about selling it, but I'm not sure what to ask for it. Normally, I'd find other sales of the same item, and see how much they went for. But I can't find any other instance of one of these being sold. Any suggestions?

Howdy Herophiles! I'm proud to announce the launch of my first HERO System-based Kickstarter project: Mythic Hero! You can go to Kickstarter and pledge your support here: Mythic Hero Kickstarter. My goal is to raise $33,000 in pledges by April 2 to write, lay out, and publish the book. (You can visit my website [see link below] for a precise cost breakdown, if you're interested.) I'd really appreciate any support you can offer! For those of you who are unfamiliar with Kickstarter, here's how it works. Kickstarter is a form of "crowdfunding," in which people such as yourselves offer their financial support for a creative project to see it com…

I have just stared a Weird War II game and it has been going very well (2 sessions). Now that I've got the campaign guidelines a little more fleshed out, I thought I'd share. I read the thread Weird War: Dark Reich Hero. This is similar to that discussion but slightly different. http://www.legendsmiths.com/adventures/weird-war-ii/ I just finished 2 very common vehicles players will find in Germany: Hanomog SdKfz 251 Common German Half-Track armored troop transport. VW Kübelwagen Common German military vehicle. http://www.legendsmiths.com/adventures/weird-war-ii/vehicles Feedback on the vehicles, or anything about the approach is welco…

Some Background My SF Pulp Noir game is set in San Francisco starting at the beginning of`1933. It's as historically accurate as possible with a few very small tweaks here and there. Of course, the presence of the characters, who are essentially Masked Avengers, will alter the course of local politics, etc., but shouldn't be far-reaching enough to affect larger historical trends. But, hey, who knows… One incredibly useful resource has been the WPA to Guide to San Francisco… find it free here with a lot of other WPA Guides from the era: http://www.digitalbookindex.com/_search/search010histus20fedwriproja.asp Also, before I forget, I'm running this game …

Hey Gang, I'm putting together some info for a Bay Area pulp game, and I'm having a tough time getting a breakdown of what the various neighborhoods were like in SF in the 1930s. Anybody know of a good resources for this type of information? The one or two things I've been able to find are for the current neighborhoods and don't really speak to what neighborhoods were most prominent in the Pulp era or what the demographics, etc., were then. Any help appreciated... --cP

Write-ups, of course! I can't remember if Opium has appeared in any of the many Hero System books or the many Pulpy Hero Plus Adventures... Please point me in the right direction. (Sadly this is one of the few, and I mean very few, pulpish things that does not grace the pages of Pulp Hero.) One of the character in my game is going to be ex-addict. It would be such a shame if some Oriental Mastermind-type fellow tied him up and say, forced him to smoke a bit for old times' sake. That just wouldn't be nice at all.

Check this out: The Mapparium A giant, walk-inside "globe" of the world as it was in 1935? Sign me up! I'd love to see this thing. Heck, I'm tempted to buy a plane ticket to Boston right now.

Okay, it's not exactly for a campaign. As I discussed in a different thread I am going to be running a two session “filler game” during our break from our primary campaign and I decided to finally introduce my group to Hero System. I’m going to be using 6E, running a pretty basic Heroic level game with few/no optional rules, not tracking END, et cetera (kind of like a lot of introductory convention games). The group seemed most interested in a Pulp game and we decided a Victorian era, lost world/exploration style adventure and this is where I am asking for assistance. First off below is my basic background/ plot synapsis: “In May of 189X Oxford Professor James W…

Ruins of a Mayan temple have been uncovered in Georgia. Of course, now it just looks like a hill, but they've demonstrated that 1,100 years ago, it was much more interesting. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/12/22/1100-year-old-mayan-ruins-found-in-north-georgia/ It could be good fodder for a pulp story. Add a little exotic flavor to a campaign that never leaves the US. Also, I'd expect the locals can expect a little looney tourism from the 2012 believers.

http://www.voynich.nu/s_intro.html http://www.voynich.nu/extra/aes.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voynich_manuscript (Obligatory Wikipedia link) Apparently a 200 plus page manuscript that has defied translation from run of the mill cryptologists to military encryption analysts. Evidence, some of which is circumstantial connects the book to John Dee, and possibly places the author as Roger Bacon making the manuscript 700 plus years old. A perfect source for a Pulp mastermind's next occult plot. One of the articles say the book was valued at $160,000 in 1961 so for modern day games it would be a priceless artifact. I notice Susano mentioned the Anti…

http://blastr.com/2011/08/artist-creates-awesome-in.php This is pretty impressive... but for me it fails in at least one major respect. I would order one right now, most likely, if it used actual 1936 geography. IMO a map showing the adventures of Indiana Jones should show the world as it was in 1936, not modern countries and names.
