Greetings, I don't play in the Terran Empire campaign setting precisely, but after buying it yesterday and spending quite a bit of time last night reading it, I have found quite a bit of material that I can use for my own campaign. One of the parts of the book that is of great use is the other imperial powers and galactic species material. I was wondering if anyone would like to share information about any species or empires that they have designed for their games? Polaris

I haven;t read my Star HERO book in a while (in fact, I recenttly had to replace my copy after losing it) but I seem to recall there being a lot of character package deals in it. I don;t have tE any more, but there may have been even more in that. What i was wondering is if there package deals for character types like dissolute nobles (useful NPCs who can get a trading ship PC party in a lot of trouble). I also wonder, on a related note, if it is possible to buld a bio-mechanical race like Alternity's Mechalus. They were a really cool race and would make interesting PCs, and I'd like to see one in a Star HERO game.

Here's a design for a suit of Power Armor. I understand that it's expensive for a Heroic level Star Hero game. I'm trying to simulate an "Elite Legion" feel against foes boasting weapons of DC 8-10. I'm putting together generic soldiers for a Terran Empire game. I have based the skill sets for the various units on the package deals in TE. I am pretty happy about the Marine and the IASF results. However, I am now trying to create the basic Imperial Army Infantryman, and quite frankly, I'm not sure what to make his speed. Just to give you an idea of where the other units stand...My marines came in at 3 Spd (100 pts), and the IASF at 3 Spd (125). I'm planning on having the Infantry be either 25 pt normals or 50 pt skilled normal, depending on what I make their Spd. I figure most PCs will be 3 or 4 Spd and 150 pts. So how do you guys do it? Is 2 Spd for b…

Greetings, Does the Terran Empire book have a map of the galaxy (a map of where various empires are relative to each other)?? If not, is there a chance that this could be put somewhere? Looking through the book at the store, I noticed that it shows a quick map of the shape of some of the empires, but didn't see any galactic map. Polaris

This assumes, of course, that their enemies don't kill them first. Cataran seems an obvious choice; she was immortal before the magic burst. Could a character like Menton survive that long, perhaps by decanting his mind into a succession of new bodies? An ability he doesn't have ... yet. Could Teleios do the same thing, only with clones? I'm not saying any of them *have* survived; it might be that their special gifts evaporated when the magic went. That hinges on whether your opinion is that the magic changed them or sustains them. Opinions?

Greetings, Is anyone running a SH game based upon a Starfire type game (empire building, or Civilization in space)? I am looking for any ideas on how to build empires. I was going to give each empire a certain number of points, and have each player build their empire like a character. Some of the areas they would need to spend points on is Technology, Population, Number of Planets, Trade, Economics. Technology would be broken down into investing into levels of technology in communications, engine power, weapons, minitiarization, industry. They could build items of technology that is one level above what their technology is but would require an ACTIVATION…

Before I dive headfirst into the mass that is Fantasy Hero, I wanted to do a little more work on my Galactic Champions/Space Opera setting. Thus, I've designed a mainstay of Space Opera, the single-pilot fighter craft. If any of you are moved to feedback, I'm always open to suggestion. In designing this craft, I was trying to get a feel of Space Opera physics, where fighter craft zip around each other like WWII fighters in a dogfight. Greetings, I am running a science fiction game that has been using the Starfire system for some time. I have gotten the group interested in switching to Star Hero for it (Starfire's big strength was its simplicity, and they have managed to make it super complicated without adding a lot of power to the system, IMHO). One of the more important aspects of a game like this is keeping an "imperial budget" (and therefore knowing how many credits a planet should be worth). I have thought of various systems for doing this. I had thought about building the planets using points (points can be spent on agricultural production, Industry, science, population, mili…

This might be useful for thinking of tasks to keep characters occupied during those long space travels, as points of interest to narrate, or just points where something can go wrong (or dramatic, same thing ). Greetings, I just want to make sure that I am doing this right. If I build a system for a starship, the Active Points cost (and therefore the point total that is going to determine the currency cost in accordance to SH table) is the cost in points AFTER the additions/limitations are calculated in... right? Hey guys! On the Fantasy Hero board, they have a thread dedicated to people posting the various magic items they've designed (or stolen) for their games. Its grown fairly large and is turning out to be quite an excellent resource for perspective Fantasy Hero GM's who need a quick idea for a magic item to throw at their PC's. I'd like to start a similar thread here. Yes, I'm aware that the Spacer's Toolkit is out and with the stuff in the Terran Empire book, there's quite a bit of tech to be had already, but its just a drop in the bucket compared to what our collective imaginations can come up with. What say you? Lets get started!

I've always had trouble with the Distinctive Features Limitation in Star HERO - you get points for having a scar on your face, but wings and an exoskeleton are normal. Then I figured it out. If you look different from your race, you get DF points (scars, birthmarks, whatever). If you look the same, you don't. However, other character can take the following disad: All Them Greenies Look the Same: Infrequently, Slightly (5 pts.) The character has trouble distinguishing between members of another species. The character may choose one species in addition to his own (A Perseid could choose Humans in addition to Perseids, for example) that they are able t…

Has anybody played in Heinlein's future history? I'm reading the complete set right now, and it seems like a wonderful Pulp Star Hero campaign.

Okay. Lets try this again. Since my last thread got hijacked, lets post our tech items in this one. The purpose of this thread is exactly like the Magic Items thread in the Fantasy Hero forum; to provide GM's with a quick source of ideas for items to use in his/her games. Any idea is welcome, as long as it fits with the theme (in this case, Science Fiction Tech). Detailed descriptions of the item being presented are encouraged, but it is understandable that oftentimes people don't have the time to create such large posts, and a brief description as well as the basic stats are just fine and dandy as well. Lets get started!

Hi, folx! It's time to start another "recommended reading" discussion. In another few months, I'll start working on Alien Wars, which is the sort of "Military SF" setting in the Hero Universe timeline. As part of this book, I'm currently planning to have a section on Military SF in general -- some of the issues that arise in Military SF stories, and if appropriate how to simulate them in HERO System terms. To make that section as good as possible, I'd like to delve back into Military SF, which I haven't read in a while. So, I thought I'd ask for some reading recommendations. Casting my eye over my bookshelves, I see the following: Drake, David. Various book…
