What mixed-genre premises would you find disturbing? Here's an example: "Mel Brooks and Akira Kurosawa collaborating on one movie." (Mixing Ninja Hero with extreme doses of comedy) Let's see what ideas you can come up with? Edit: This was just something that came to me totally at random.

That way, all match-ups in week 1 of playoffs are new, no repeats.

We're still several weeks away from starting a new season, but I wanted to start a new discussion thread since the old one was getting huge and unwieldy. I also wanted to let you guys know that I am thinking about it and the Arena is undergoing reconstruction. There are going to be some big changes. We may lose a few of you as a result. I hope that we don't, but some things really need to change in the structure. For my sanity and yours as well, I hope. In the meantime, be good and don't hurt any orange supercats.

This thread is a "spinoff" from the "Heightened Libido" thread. Essentially, it's intended to be an unofficial, unendorsed thread for any ideas or thoughts related to erotic/romantic/sexual submatters in Hero System RPG campaigns. Lucius suggested calling it "Ultimate Erotic Hero", though I'm partial to Ero System Sexth Edition (ESSE or "Essay") for short. A few disclaimers and caveats/guidelines to begin: 1. Hero Games, and the management and moderators of this board, in no way support or endorse any ideas contained in this thread. 2. Some of the material in this thread, while handled(hopefully) as discreetly and tastefully as possible, may still be considered …

Has anyone done any Rifts conversions to the HERO system? I love the background (though I admit it is cheesy), but damn if I don't pretty much hate the rules. Most of all, I hate the fact that it takes me about the same amount of time to create a Palladium character as it does a HERO character, but all of the Palladium characters of a particular class seem to be exactly the same. Anyway, thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction.

Or, what is Susano working on now? Seeing as I have gaps of dead time at work (which right now is watching a lot of progress bars crawl across the screen), I've been working on some new character adaptations: HG Wells characters The Time Traveller and his Time Machine -- I'm rebuilding this one, editing characteristics, expanding skills, and making the Time Machine a vehicle. Moorlock -- generic Dr. Moreau -- I think he uses a Transform to turn animals into "people" The Invisible Man -- possible rebuild Dr. Cavor Selenites -- generic (did I mention I have a really nice collection of classic HG Wells stories in one volume? I am skipping WAR OF THE…

The manuscript for Western Hero is at Hero HQ and being worked over, with a new cover being created for it. I don't know any realistic release date but I hope it will be out by Christmas. This is to be an official Hero Games product, not a Hall of Champions fan bit or self pub job like my other work. I have a few release ideas set up for it, when it hits the shelves including an adventure module. As I get more news and information I'll pass it along here. So stay tuned, pardner.

I thought we might do something new for 2017: a Tournament of Heroes. The essence of the idea is this: We select a number of heroes, seed them in a bracket à la March Madness, and have them face off (via polls) until a winner is crowned. I thought this could be a fun activity to participate in without an undue time burden for anyone (with the possible exception of myself). The tournament would be executed in three phases, as outlined below: Phase I: Nominations I’ll open it up to all of you to nominate heroes you feel would be worthy to compete in such an event. The nomination process could begin as early as later this week, and I’d accept nominations for two to…

Before we can have a Tournament, we must have competitors. This thread is where we determine who they will be. Before discussing details, let me just get this out of the way: PLEASE NOMINATE HEROES. We’ll get a fair number of 90s-style dark & gritty anti-heroes along the way--especially in the Street Level tournament--and that’s just fine. Healthy, even. But the focus here is on heroes. So please don’t nominate villains. One day, we may have a Tournament of Villains--but today is not that day. Okay, a few simple guidelines for nominating characters: Each Forum member may nominate up to three characters per day. No more than three characters per day, please…

LL was kind enough to help me with my Cthulhu Hero question, and I'm hoping that he'll be able to help me likewise with resources for doing Gamma World Hero. It turns out that my son's group wants to do a post-apocalyptic setting in the same flavor as Gamma World, complete with animal characters. One of them wants to be a telekinetic/cryokinetic penguin. So, I'll need stats for a penguin, which I couldn't find in any of the books. I've already warned him about the possibility of encountering a land killer whale. I'll probably be looking for weapons similar to Fallout 3/New Vegas as well. One of them wants to make a 40s/50s milkman that drives an old fashioned mil…

Hey folx! Now that people are playing the game, I figured it would be useful for those of us who frequent the Hero boards to list our heroes here, so perhaps we might recognize one another in-game. I've created and played the following so far (levels as of 10/07/2009): Harbinger (40) Culverin (17) Unsheathed (11) Ultratech (8) Yellowjacket (6) Doctor Arcane (1) Steel Scarab (1) Once I figure out how to create a superteam, I'll see about creating one for Hero boards members.

What it says on the tin. What kinds of things would you like to see addressed? Specifically: What kind of rules? (Hero System vehicle rules, updated and rewritten Robot Warriors rules, new rules) What kinds of campaigns? (Realistic military, superpowered Champions-style robot heroes, others) What scope would you like to see it cover? (Full genre book, mini-genre a la Post-Apocalyptic Hero, all-in-one a la Lucha Hero) Something I haven't mentioned.

I floated this idea elsewhere, an Old West campaign. Pregens to include the Lone Ranger, Tonto, the Duke, Kwai Chan Caine, The Man With No Name, Tom Sawyer, James West, Artemus Gordon, and Dorothy Gale. For the first adventure, I'm thinking that the LXA (League of Extraordinary Americans) are all attending completion of the Trans-Continental Railroad in the USA. Kwai Chan Caine is driving rails. Tom Sawyer is a Union Pacific Detective, providing security. I'm thinking about using Brisco County Sr. Jonah Collier: So, Marshal Brisco County, now that you've rounded up the thirteen most notorious outlaws in all the west, including John Bly, what will do you do for an en…

Alright... I managed to get near a project, and since it involves a convention that means I may get sucked into said project. I need any and all source material you consider "Steampunk" -Books -Comics -Movies (including Anime) -Music (no, really, whatever you listen to to get 'into the Steampunk mood') -RPGs -Television -Video Games -Any other medium I forgot I have a really long list already (actually, I have a really long literary list since that's usually my main focus and a moderate Other Media list), and I have a slightly narrowed definition of what I consider Steampunk and the purpose here is to get the whole range on the topic (as some …

So Season III has wrapped up with Lady Pariah as the victor and Psybolt as the runner up. Congrats to both and an extra congrats to last season's second place finisher who managed to take it this season. But that now leaves us with some time to discuss what we thought of this season and desires for next season. In general I did miss some of the back and forth of a week long 1 on 1 but I do think the fact that things are different day by day is nice. Plus this does mean that the weekly win rate is less important and each individual day becomes more important. Likewise, I liked to some level the variety in the matches but I thought that with some limitations we found ou…

Herogames, I'm a little disappointed in you. You were given a chance to make the universe you created for Champions become a living, breathing online world with Champions Online... But somewhere, somehow, someone dropped the ball. I'm not here to point fingers and/or say who's to blame, and there'd be nothing to gain here by doing so anyway. But I'd like to explain a little how my wish to play a Champions computer game – one with the HERO System running it – remains unfulfilled by the reality of Champions Online. Primarily, as a player of Champions and the HERO System in tabletop form since 1982 and as a Lifetime Subscriber to Champions Online, I don't fee…

With season two winding down for me I am starting to think of team themes for next season. Things that I have learned to be great bonuses: When in doubt, go for a cute or sexy female. Fame is far more important than power. Good guys play better than vllains. Points are important but can be hard to gain in the draft. I personly prefer having a theme rather than a random association but it can be hard to have a narrow theme when drafting as it makes snipes a bigger problem. ___ So thinking of the above I want to find a theme that let's me have a good chance next time while satisfying as many of my above observations as I can. To aid in that I thought I would outsour…

I've started a Mythic Urban Fantasy game starting at a very low point level, but the idea is for the characters to eventually become godlings. In trying to figure out the 'minimum qualifications' to be a credible deity, my impression is that the bar is fairly low. Most gods don't even seem to be truly ageless, there are plenty of examples of pantheons who rely on a special food or drink to remain young or have a god or goddess of youth in the pantheon who could be responsible for the longevity of their compatriots...perhaps gods can't die of old age, but continued youth doesn't seem to be something they can take for granted. Marduk is portrayed as eventually getting old, …

I have been working on this for a couple of years now; I have about 100 write ups in variuous phases of completion, some you might have seen at Surbrook's Stuff site. I have a very rough world overview. Let me show you . Chad’s Street Fighter Universe Campaign Specifics. Campaign Basics: This is a Wild Martial Arts campaign of epic proportions. Based on the rather comic book like world of Fighting Games, notably Street Fighter and King of Fighters. Campaign is a few funky skintight costumes from a Superhero Genre, the characters will have fabulous Martial Arts powers and everything from Supernatural Monsters to Cyborgs and Robots will speckle the horizon. The cha…

ONLY HUMAN... Is not good enough. Want to be stronger? Faster? Smarter? You can, provided you are willing to pay the price... your humanity. Cybernetics allow you to punch harder, shoot straighter, run faster, and even think better. And if that’s not enough, you can become a full-conversion cyborg, sacrificing mere meat for cutting-edge machine. You might opt for a genetic upgrade, a reworking of your DNA with the intent of “fixing” all of nature’s mistakes. Or you might be a replicated human, vat-grown and computer-designed for a specific purpose. Still not satisfied? You can take on the role of an esper, a living weapon with powerful psychokineti…

Hi, folks. After seeing so many music videos and movie trailer mashups with the new My Little Pony show, I decided to have an open mind and watch the pilot . . . yep, I got hooked. One of the things which attracted me is that the show depicts a world with wild untamed areas, dangers, and monsters--in other words, a world suitable for gaming. Accordingly, I'm trying my hand a writeup for the three main types of ponies. The Physical Complication: Quadrapedal that I'm using is supposed to reflect that while the ponies can use their front hooves to manipulate things, they still need all four legs to walk or run properly, and also the fact that their body plan m…
