I've expanded on FPS Hero from Digital Hero 43. Is there any interest in such a thing? It breaks a number of rules, and as ever, I worry about other's toes.

I am trying to find if anyone has made characters from The Originals of The Vampire Diaries? Have a supernatural based game I am getting ready to play in and want to see if those type characters have been made yet as a reference.

Before my question, a little background: I'm running a Morrow Project Hero game on RPoL -- for those who don't know, MP is a post-apocalypse game where teams are trained, outfitted, and frozen before the coming war so they can help rebuild after the worst has passed. However, instead of waking up a few years afterward as planned, they wake up over a century later on their own. In my game, 130 years after the big one. In the original MP game world, teams were frozen in the 1970s and early 80s, with the war happening in 1989. I altered the war's start to 2016, with most of the current team having been frozen in 2014 but the knew that some Morrow teams had been fr…

EDIT: Version 2 now up. EDIT2: Version 3 now up. This is the final version. I don't know how many are familiar with the Lunch Money card game. It's a vicious game that's supposed to reflect the murderous intent of preteen schoolgirls fighting in the yard over lunch money. It's a fun game, but the replay value isn't as high as I'd like. They made an expansion (Sticks and Stones, which I own) and a follow-up game (Beer Money, which I do not). Anyway, my buddy and I were considering which board game to play yesterday, and came upon my Lunch Money cards. I idly speculated that you could turn the game into a decent Hero System martial art. So, here it is (the prefab, that i…

Found this Wiki through TV Tropes. It describes the world after Doomsday, September 19th, 1983. On that day, in our timeline, disaster was averted when a Soviet Colonel correctly decided that the four US ICBMs the instruments were showing him must have been glitches; in the Doomsday timeline, he was assigned to a different bunker ... The timeline is continually updated, and their now is our now, but in another timeline. I think. Seems very adaptable as a background for a PAH campaign.

I wonder if there's any market at all for a Hero System sourcebook for wartime role playing. You'd need basic rules for how to run a campaign, tips on making it gritty or cinematic, rules for things like "courage under fire" and basic command structure information. The main book could have a specific war setting with some adventures (WW2 probably a good starting point) and you could put out sets for Napoleonic, Vietnam war, Desert Storm/War on Terror, Indian Wars in the American old West, 100 years' war, etc. Each sourcebook would have the difference forces, equipment, timeline, history, and adventures. I'd be interested, but I don't know how big a seller it would …

Hello, and welcome to the emporium! We stock a wide range of very special items you can't get anywhere else in the Multiverse, mostly because they're outright forbidden and/or other item shops consider them too dangerous to have in their inventory. Browse out endless isles of mystical items and exotic technologies! For our grand opening, I offer up these first two items: Jade-Tinted Glasses & Rose-Tinted Glasses The lenses in these finely-crafted pairs of spectacles are made of a special kind of crystal that affects the perceptions of anyone who looks through them; giving them either a jaded or rosy outlook on their surroundings. Each comes in a convenient pack o…

I was reading some old threads and saw an idea someone had to do a genre book that would set out to model sports using the HERO system. The more I think about this the less I think it would work. Only for sports already in HERO (like boxing or UFC) would this even be remotely possible, unless you totally altered the game in drastic ways. Even if you basically came up with a new skill system for each sport, employ the OCV systems, etc., the movement system would have to be reworked as well. You would end up with something that didn't look that much like HERO anymore. I just don't think its a workable idea, although it would undoubtedly sell if there was som…

So I had this character concept for a game on hero central but I'm not sure if it's still active. Jack is a simple, almost easy going kind of guy, he doesn't really get mad except in his dreams. Moving through the desolated world in a kind of Zen like calm. The character was designed to fit into a Post Apocalypse world of zombies and nuclear fallout so he's a bit on the cinematic side as far as his combat style goes. Enjoy... Jack Val Char Cost Roll Notes 20 STR 10 13- Lift 400.0kg; 4d6 [4] 13 DEX 9 12- OCV: 4/DCV: 4 15 CON 10 12- 15 BODY 10 …

My notes for Ravenna are getting kinda complex, so I thought I'd start sharing some of the content. Certainly, especially in the case of victims of institutional abuse like the girls in the Magdalene Laundries, I do not mean to do anything but highlight where the evil in the mundane world hides. Ravenna is a place of Extradimensional Evil, to be sure, but ordinary humans can create horrors without casting spells. That's my intent, if I go too far, please tell me. Backgrounds The following are a few ideas for characters who might want to fit into Ravenna by truly being part of its history. Each of these origins connects to “actual” events in the Ravenna timeline. As…

Lucha Libre Hero is by far my all-time favorite Hero product. Is anyone else out there bursting with love for Lucha Libre Hero and the genre it was made for? I have a hard time getting anyone to play Hero, let alone Lucha Libre Hero, so I'd love to hear tales from your games or information about resources you've used for the game. I have some toy masked wrestlers I bought in Tijuana that I think would be handy for a tabletop game, plus some books about the films and real-life luchadores.

Since it's mentioned on the front page, I thought I'd give a brief rundown on the project. Things is intended to be a cross-genre supplement for GMs looking for classic horror elements to include in their games. The book will be divided into nine section, with each section covering a 'type' of supernatural monster of being. Thus, it will cover ghosts, vampires, werewolves, zombies, and the like. The book will also introduce readers to the witiko (or wendigo), contain character sheets for such entities as Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, Jack the Ripper, and so on. I also plan on including some modern horrors, such as Greys, Men in Black, Mothman, and if I can find e…

I admit it. This isn't much of a plotline as obscure social satire. It's a reason for PCs to go blow up some cultists. Oh, and there are not-so-subtle parody elements to it. I know I'm gonna take heat for even writing this, but it's lunchtime in Indy, and I was bored. As some background, Ravenna is the name of my Urban Fantasy campaign, which features modern elements and crossworld fantasy tropes. Evil things lurk in both the city streets and the shadows of astral space. The Yigothu are a race of astral slavers I nicked from GURPS Cabal. Dark Dungeons: a Ravenna plotline Marcie “Black Leaf” Anderson was a typical gamer girl. Her GM, Ms. Vandela Frost, is an evil, Yi…

Lately I've been wondering how Mortal Kombat would work if it were redone as a post-apocalyptic setting, stripping out some of the more extreme fantasy aspects. I've been inspired by artwork on the web, gaming supplements like D&D's "Dark Sun" and maybe a bit of "Thundarr the Barbarian." Instead of alien races and magical realms, Shao Khan's empire is a place set on post-apocalypse Earth, peopled with mutant species of mankind, espers and the remnants of a high-technology society. "Magic" is actually a form of psionic power, some human subraces gifted with focused forms like cryokinesis and pyrokinesis. Once every twenty years, a great tournament is held at th…
