Hi everyone, I wonder if anyone would be kind enough to help me out? I'm just an old pen and paper gamer with very little computer experience. I'm from the bay area and started playing Champions at conventions when it first came out but Champions has NEVER been very user friendly. Its seems like it is a game by computer geeks for other computer geeks but I'm just a humble English major who loves comics. Still a major geek but technology has always been my enemy. Well then a friend showed me Champions Online and I KNEW I had to play it! I have never played a computer game of any kind before (except for a few hour of Call of Cthulhu: Ends of the Earth) and I had to save …

List Your CO Heroes! 1 2 3 4 12

Hey folx! Now that people are playing the game, I figured it would be useful for those of us who frequent the Hero boards to list our heroes here, so perhaps we might recognize one another in-game. I've created and played the following so far (levels as of 10/07/2009): Harbinger (40) Culverin (17) Unsheathed (11) Ultratech (8) Yellowjacket (6) Doctor Arcane (1) Steel Scarab (1) Once I figure out how to create a superteam, I'll see about creating one for Hero boards members.

Cryptic has opened a new Seattle-based studio, with staff from Flying Lab Software. They'll be working on "polishing and improving" Champions Online, at least initially. Now, that's sort of wide open, but it's good to see the game get a little attention. Story here: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/193707/QA_With_Neverwinter_inbound_Cryptic_founds_Seattle_studio.php

Two "Post-Apocalyptic Hero" Questions

This book is now almost six years old, but I just recently bought a copy. Having played several post-holocaust RPGs as a kid in the early 1980s, and having really enjoyed other 5e genre books by Steve Long (including Pulp Hero, Dark Champions, and Champions (w/ Aaron Allston)), I was very interested in Steve's 'take on' this genre. I knew I'd likely never play a post-apocalyptic RPG ever again myself. Rather, I expected to enjoy reading a thorough, thoughtful, well-researched analysis. It didn't disappoint. The book was excellent, I thought, and was a real pleasure to read, especially the first 90 pages. I had couple of questions about it, and wondered if anyone…

I am thinking of running a game at a convention in which players select blind packaged Lego Minifigs and create a character based on the toy. They would be encouraged to trade pieces with each other or from a spare parts pile. My problem is what to do after character creation. Should I run a simple PVP battle royale combat or try to plug everyone into an adventure?

At last, it can be told! I have some excellent news (though my exuberance over it may seem silly to some of my more experienced author friends). I've had my first short story accepted for publication! It's called "Blade Of Fire" and will be appearing in an anthology of post-apocalyptic fantasy stories called THE END WAS NOT THE END, from Seventh Star Press. I'm told it should be out in early March. So, everyone please buy a copy. More details available as they come to me.

What's the deal with Zen? besides overcomplicating things

wouldn't work just fine to be able to, you know , pay for something directly if you wanted it. I tryed to purchase some more slots told I didn't have enough Zen. No direct link. So I found thespot said I needed another activation code. which they claim they sent me but didn't ( I checked everywhere including spam). So customer service will get back to me thety say in 3-4 days. I guess they're doing great and don't need my money. Am I missing something that will smooth out the process? Its pretty infuriating.

Does anyone know of a place that lists victorian occupations? I'm in the process of building a Victorian Era Campaign with a strong steam-punk and pulp feel to it... Traditionally, I have made some prefabs for my players that included an educational and occupational set up, but I am having problems finding a list of occupations. HELP!

There's a new computer game coming out based on Michael Pondsmith's pen and paper RPG, Cyberpunk 2013 (later Cyberpunk 2020). While not Hero related directly, I thought some folks might want to be aware as popular video games sometimes carry over their popularity to PnP genres. Also, there's a video interview with Michael Pondsmith, which is kinda neat. Site: http://cyberpunk.net/ Teaser: Interview with Mr. Pondsmith:

Hey, everybody. I started to post this in the "returnees" thread, but since I never really played CO, it's a stand-alone. I left CoH years ago for LotRO and recently have had the hero bug bite me again. A couple of LotRO buddies and I are considering trying CO with a three-man team built to play together. It will be purely F2P at the start (we're all lifetime members of LotRO and have gotten spoiled not paying monthly fees). Could any of you vets recommend 3 silver archetypes that would fit well together? Any other advice eagely appreciated as well. TiA, VtR

So I thought, you know, I haven't run anything in a long time. I also haven't posted anything to the boards in a VERY long time. Perhaps I need to amend that! Hence I will be bringing to you, over the next few months, "Persona: The RPG," based on the MegaTen series. You can check out the wiki for such things if you're curious or need the background. The design will be heavily influenced by such things as Persona 3: FES, Persona 4 (which I will be buying a PS Vita just to play the Golden edition) and Persona 4: Arena. There will also be shades of Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2 and a few other bits and pieces in there as well. For those of you who don't know (or who…

The preacher read from the ancient book. "And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth." He then turned to the crowd to explain the passage. "First came the sword, as men turned upon each other with weapons unimaginable." "Second came the hunger, and all who lived suffered the changes wrought by the tech." "Third came death, as men simply fell over, their souls rent from their bodies." "Fourth, the beasts of the earth rose up as men huddled in the shattered ruins, for Man had broken the sacred covenant that gave dominion over them." The prea…

Eightfold_Path has returned to CO, bringing with her friends from other MMOs. They love it! Is anyone interested in getting together to run through The Serpent Lantern a time or two next Sunday afternoon/evening? Multiple runs can be done in parallel or sequentially depending on number interested.
