I was idly rereading Post Apocalypse Hero and thought it might be a fun thought experiment to toss out a What Would YOU Do? for The Destinations setting (BTW, Steve, love the homage to The Road). So, to recap and set the questions, a massive Solar Flare kills anything that's not at least 3 meters below ground and burns everything. The huge EMP fries anything that can be fried by an EMP. so How did you survive? Where are you most likely to "just happen" to be safe? and Presumably, this place is somewhat familiar to you, even if it's just "the tunnel I commute through". So, how do you kit yourself out? I'm pondering my own answers, I'll get back to y…

While nothing is perfect Resistance got a lot right. The storyline is very tight, the game play is not repetitive and the level of difficulty and thought required for this Adventure Pack really raises the bar. For those who have not played through it, I highly recommend it, even if you are a on a Free Account go ahead, it's worth it. This is what Champions Online should be. Now for a more detailed review. From here, their be spoilers. Unlike almost every other mission in the game Resistance starts off with placing your character at ground zero when the trouble begins. From the onset you are drawn into the action without feeling like this might be busy…

I'm curious if there is intrest either at Origins or GenCon (or any of the local Cons here in NE Ohio) in participating in Hero events based on the films "The Dirty Dozen" and "Kelly's Heros". Here is what i have been toying with for awhile. THE DIRTY DOZEN: Money in the Bank. Major John Reisman is once again in trouble and General Worden has a way out for him. Train twelve general prisoners within a few weeks time. His mission; intrecept a German convoy that is carring the printing plates for the country's currency and steal them before it reaches an impregnable Alpine castle. The PC's are, of course, the prisoners although I haven't ruled Major Reisman out…

I made mention in the Perfect World thread of the possibility of Cryptic eventually putting up a zone in China. After all, there's already plenty in the published CU that could go in there. It could include the following (and remember that I'm speaking on an entirely hypothetical and speculative basis here): The "home area" would be a base with contacts from the Tiger Squad. The base could be run by them, or by UNTIL; I'm not sure. Shamballah could be in as a neighborhood, with Agharti as a Lair. At least one plot thread is already in place: there are "Shamballah Vampires" in Vibora Bay. Where did such a thing come from? (This would identify what part of Chin…

I've been curious: has anyone tried to stat out Android 18's stats and powers? I'd like to see them.

Despite the lack of granularity at the lowest of the low levels, I believe HERO 6th Edition can run a good game set in the Half-Life 2 universe. Instead of playing the main cast, our heroes (the PCs) can play up and coming Resistance members tasked with undermining, and eventually destroying, the Combine's grip against humanity.

Hi there, I have been thinking of playing a Shadowrun style game lately, a cyberpunk-but-with-magic setting, and I am mulling around ideas for what system to use to run it. One obvious choice is the actual Shadowrun rules, but I want to look at other options. Are there any Hero products that cover the genre, or does anyone have a link to a fansite or something similar? I find Hero interesting, but the thing that puts me off about it is the large amount of design work one would have to do to get the game up and running. That's what is both exciting and discouraging about Hero, its a "toolkit" game, you can do almost anything with it, but you have to take the kit a…

Hey, I'm new to the forums, and since I just made my account it isn't letting me use the search function, so I apologize in advance if a post about this had already been made. I'm in the process of converting the New World of Darkness games (specifically Mage the Awakening). I was wondering if anyone has had any luck doing this same thing and might be able to give me some pointers. The big thing I'm trying to figure out is roughly how many HERO points there are per World of Darkness dot.

I just got my hands on the Ultimate Base PDF today and I'm trying to wrap my brain around the Kingdom rules. One exercise in learning the Kingdom game that I would like to try sometime is a Napoleonic era game. The Kingdoms are the powers of Europe and the Characters attached are leaders such as Napoleon Bonaparte. The game would reflect the ebb and flow of international power; as Napoleon wins and loses campaigns, for example, France's influence and power waxes and wanes, and likewise for the other great powers. I'm wondering how that would work and also how to write up the powers and leaders themselves. Applying RPG stats to historical figures is always tricky…

I just got my shiny new macbook pro and finally have the heavy lifting to be able to play some MMO's. I'm trying to decide between Champions and DC Universe. Can anyone give some insight into which would be better? I'm kind of leaning towards champions online because it seems like there might be a bit better customization.

How would you go about putting into play a mechanic for making new characters get random powers of a particular theme/strength that the players could then go and design once the basic floorplan was determined? Kind of like how in marvel FACERIP they have the random powers mechanics, but you know....better, Many thanks.

I'm working on a Kazei 5 character: a low-level (female) esper who becomes a street samurai. And I'm completely drawing a blank on costume ideas. This character will appear in the "Escape From Outbackistan" adventure at GenCon, so there's also a bit of post-apocalyptic/zombie-slayer genre cross-over involved. Any suggestions or links would be greatly appreciated. Thanx heaps.

There is a "400" club in pro football, for the elite who can bench press that many pounds. Of course STR 15 is 110% of that. Most real life martial artists can't bench press 400 pounds, let alone 440. I don't consider martial arts being cited in your Background as sufficient to explain world class strength per se, though an internal style is a good start... It would be funny to have a Power Build like this- +15 STR only vs. those with inadequate written explanation of their world class (15+) STR. What would that Limitation be worth in your Hero System game?

This was an idea I had last week and I figured that I'd share it with the HERO forums. While having redundant Martial Maneuvers within individual Martial Arts Packages works fine as it is, and buying situational CSLs and the like is too, I though of something that may be more flavorful for a good ole "My Kung Fu is Stronger Than Yours!" Kind of campaign. Essentially, every Martial Arts style that a character has is a Multiform with tweaked Characteristics, Skills (mostly CSLs, Combat Skills, and Martial Maneuvers), Talents, Powers, and maybe even Complications (new Physical Complications, Distinctive Features, Susceptibilities, all based on the stance, etc) thou…

Ok, someone in the Bingo brigade HAS to take that as a secondary travel power. Maybe Senile Sentinel can have a 'dirty Hippy' costume from his years in the 60's, which will cause appy Pacemaker challenge him to duel every time

Hey gang, anyone more familiar with the hideouts that are coming our way? Are they only for Superteams, or will Individuals get some? Also I'm seriously stoked at the golden age costume sets I saw in the April State of the Game segment. Nice

I've found that doing a screen capture while in the costume creator, whether a hero's or a Nemesis', makes a rather nice-looking wallpaper (or at least a good start at one). Red Streak's Nemesis, Master Disaster, demonstrates:
