I'm pleased to show everyone a preview of what the completed cover will look like. This is the penciled version that I received two days ago from Brett Barkley, artist extraordinaire. I'm so glad that he's doing the art for my book. I hope you enjoy the cover art and feel free to leave feedback!

If I were running a campaign based on Superdimensional Fortress Macross (don't use the "R" word around me!), would characters like Hikaru, Max and Roy Focker have to pay character points for their Veritech fighters (especially sinc e Hikaru and Max don't start out with them!)?

Originally I posted this in the main CO forums but I'm not sure how much cross over there is so I'm reposting it here. Last night, I completed the Serpent Lantern with Agent Sawyer my level 14, then 15 munitions character. It took me roughly 3 days as I rarely play more than 20-30 minutes at a time and I died ... a lot. Now the later part of this I'm alright with since I did the entire story solo, we'll come back to that first part. The story was solid, although I would have liked to have seen more gravitas in the beginning especially considering the video using in game graphics that just went up. No pun laden mission descriptions, you actually wanted to rea…

While contemplating how to stop a character from "bleeding to death" at < 0 body, I finally hit on a relatively workable solution that didn't also cost a ton of points. Homeostasis: Paramedics 13-, Persistent (+1/4), Activates at negative Body (Activating the Trigger is an Action that takes no time, Trigger resets automatically, immediately after it activates, Character does not control activation of personal Trigger; +3/4) (6 Active Points); Only on Self Power loses about half its effectiveness (-1) (Real Cost: 3) If I understand the way this works, it would trigger on the character reaching negative body, and on every phase where the character would have h…

Just bought an Xbox 360 recently, and I've noticed that 360 owners are really being screwed over in the MMO department. First Final Fantasy XIV and now this? Why? Sorry, but this would actually have been an MMO on my game list. That and Final Fantasy XI.

I saw someone post on the High Plains Hero thread that they weren't sure how to do Duels in Hero. They seem very simplistic, the guy with the highest DEX goes first and therefore usually wins the fight. That would work if Duels were normal combat, but they aren't. Duels are a special situation and they came about for a very specific purpose. If a person was intent just to kills someone they wouldn't go through the whole process of a duel. They would just walk up behind their target and shoot them. Duels came about because the above situation, just walking up behind someone and shooting them, is not accepted by society. However, killing the same person in a duel is accepte…

This review will try and remain as spoiler free as possible. Demon Flame was run at level 32 on Elite Difficulty with this character. Spread over two days it took approximately 4 hours to complete. Overall I would say that this is much improved over Serpent Lantern. The adventure starts out with a simple investigation and quickly balloons into more. While the writing is improved compared to the general content I think this opening to the adventure could have been spread out a little bit more to build the anticipation before entering the Qliphotic Realm. However, the mission runs fairly quickly and dumps you into the action. While the adventure is started from …

I once had a strange idea for something to cover in HERO system. GTR shows (like Transformers). So, I had a few quick notes for ideas. Giant Transforming Robots in HERO System. Note: This material uses stuff from Star Hero (SH) and Champions © along with the Hero System core rulebook (H5). None of these are revised editions, so the page counts may be off compared to more recent revisions. CHARACTER CREATION NOTES: When creating a Giant Transforming Robot, it is important to keep the following things in mind: 1) Size: Morphing robots tend to be larger than most humans. If you want to select a size for your character,…

Hi, new user here. I've been studying the Hero System for a while, and played it a bit (I prefer it over d20 by a far shot), and I've decided to GM a game for my friends. Can you guys give me any tips on GMing a PA game, what I can do to streamline it, etc? I'm thinking of adapting the Fallout system, but I'm not sure if thats the best solution. tl;dr: What should I do to get straight to the action, and to avoid spending months just preparing the game? This will be my first time GMing a more serious campaign. Any ideas are appreciated, thanks.

Has anyone ever tried running a Commando Hero campaign? I tried running Dark Champions before but some of the characters were TOO dark (read anti-social and some were worse than the goons they killed). DC:A didn't feel right either. I'm trying to find a balance between the two. Commando Hero sounded like it might fit, but all I found was a segment in the 5th ed Viper book. So any experiences and suggestions would be helpful.

Since it has uses as a plot hook in a variety of genres I'll post this here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/20101011/sc_space/forgetbigasteroidsitsthesmallerrocksthatsneakinandblowup From the article: "...."We talk about the big ones all the time, and we're getting rid of the threat for those," said Bill Ailor, director of the Center for Orbital and Reentry Debris Studies. "But the small ones are going to be a continuing threat. And the challenge is what do we do about that," said Ailor, also a leading planetary defense expert at The Aerospace Corp. in El Segundo, Calif. "We might not see them in time." Similar in view was Don Yeomans, manager of NASA's Ne…
