Has anyone thought of writing up some of the characters and gadgets from Case Closed, aka Detective Conan? FunImation, the American distributors, this time had no choice but to change the names and title because Conan is such a well-known trademark in America. (I wonder what whioever finally brings over the Miyazaki classic Future Boy Conan will be forced to do)\?) Conan Edogawa, the suddenly-juvenile-again form of detective Jimmy Kudo, retains both his mature brillians and his obsession with leaving no crime that he ehars about unsolved. Unfortunately he;s now in the body of an eight-year-old, making it difficults for adults to take him seriously. So has had his mad…

To the supporters of Gaslight/Victorian HERO and Old West HERO We have been splitting our collective power, when in reality by working together; we can promote a combine book called 19th Century HERO. Imagine a book somewhere around the size of Dark Champions containing information on both genres. In my humble opinion the book would contain the following; Chapter One: Character creation and archetypes would be put up front. Here is an excellent example of both books sharing common material. After all what separates a soiled dove and a London streetwalker but location. Also we have seen in movies and books character concepts that move from one genre to the …

Hi all Anyone know of a quick/easy way to produce 'fake' newspaper pages for use as player handouts eg a Word template? I want to use them as a daily update for a pulp game (ie to keep the PCs abreast of 'world' events, and also to drop in clues and leads to ongoing plots). I imagine there's no reason why it wouldn't also work for contemporary games. For anyone running pulp games, I found this site to be quite a good resource for pictures that can be used for NPCs (assuming none of your players are 30s film buffs...). http://www.classicmovies.org/links/imagecollections.htm

I'm really psyched about Pulp Hero. It didn't occur to me until recently. Last night we rented Sky Captain and the World of Tommorrow. I just sort of realized, how much I love the pulp genre. Now I can't wait for the new book to come out. I have a million questions I want to get answered for this Hero Genre. But I will refrain from asking 999,998 of them. The second question is of greater importance because it will allow me to begin preparing early. 1. Will you be creating a Pulp Forum when the book is released? 2. Can you share any recommmended books and movies that you plan on mentioning in the book?

Does anyone know where I can locate some good animation-style Pics of Western characters for NPC use? Not photos or paintings but pencil or pen & Ink type pics. Red Dead Revolver (PSII) has some great art but I can not locate the concept art anywhere to use.

I use the the title Horror for pretty much any modern (19th Century to present) game featuring the supernatural. So I consider a game like Stalking the night fantastic and some X-files Horror (although I know X-files also falls into modern conspiracy) I'm just wondering if this meets the general opinion of the rest of you. Does horror have to be scary or just have nasty unnatural creatures.

Hello all, In a Heroic campaign, how much would a disadvantage that disallows a person from using mechanical objects if the person is able to have power similar to a superhero? For example: A normal everyday human complete with NCM and the ability to purchase guns and armor with $ compared to a "gifted" human who is unable to use anything mechanical but can develop limited "superpowers" (70 Active Point limit in a 125/125 CP game).

Since the first one went down like Paris Hilton when the fleet comes in here's a revamped, reorganized setting for your perusal and possible play: No one knows what caused it. Theories? There's as many theories as there are survivors. Probably more actually. Terrorists? Computer error? The Fundies felt it was time for Judgement Day? Who knows? All anyone is of is that on October 25th, 2005 the world as we knew it came to an end in a flash of nuclear fire. Several detonations ripped threw major cities all over the world. In the ensuing panic, several exchanges took place only adding to the monolithic death toll. Luckily (to be loose with the language) the madness stop…

Hello all. I have agreed to GM a Martial Arts adventure at a Convention coming up and I am hoping to get some help with the characters. Basically I need to come up with an idea for 6 characters. The basic idea is that the characters are from the same “school.†The “school†teaches many different forms of Martial arts so I don’t see that as being a problem. So far I have: Quick Guy: High Dexterity, Strikes a lot. His Martial art is based on hitting a lot with small damage. Big Guy: Very Strong, but not so quick. Martial art is based on not hitting often, but wow when he does. Focused One: Master of Chi’ She/he will focus on chi’ abilities wit…

I am looking at a way to convert a game over to Hero, specifically Armeggedon (by Eden Studioes...). In that game, players can take the roles of normals, magi, angels, demons, old gods, psychics and others. This would be a heroic level game, though probably high point total. Now, the problem I'm having is figuring out a way to balance characters paying points for abilities with the normal characters who pick up weapons and armor. Obviously, NCM would be a given for the normal mortals, but if joe the angel spends 30 pts to have a Celestial Fire blast that the human does for free with a pistol... I'm having issues. One idea I had was to let players pa…

I'm working on a new game for my group. Since the game is likely months off, I'm enjoying the chance to do some world building without a real time limit. Since past games have been fantasy and super heros, my next game will be supernatural (Monster Hunter/Horror - Sometimes the PC hunt the monsters, sometimes the monsters are doing the hunting). Our group has been together for probably 20 years, though I've been with it for perhaps 13. In that time the group has been through countless supernatural games, mosty 1920's. Typically starting with the characters knowing nothing of the supernatural. As a result, past a point the group is a little jaded and starting the…

Not sure how many people have read the Dark Tower series by Steven King, but it opens unlimited possibilities for advantures. Even at the end of the series, Roland the Gunslinger has to do it all over again with slight to perhaps major changes on how the story will progress. As I am writing for the era of 1778, I am coming across in my writing several references to Slavery. This is an ugly subject and I am nearly at an impass as how to handle it. On one hand, I simply cannot ignore it. That just seems disrespectful somehow and simply wrong. On the otherhand, I cannot make it seem 'nice' or make it sunshine and flowers as seen in the movie 'The Patriot'. Very few slave owners, especially those on larger farms and plantations never associated or treated thier slaves with much respect or kindness. There is a character I have, a pre-generated PC character (or NPC if no one plays him) who is a slave. He is in of course what is a bad s…

In 2020 a radical environmental terrorist group called the Scions of Gaia launched a massive assault against civilization itself. Utilizing a combination of multiple high altitude EMP bombs, computer viruses and engineered biological weapons the Scions effectively brought the modern world to an end. Thousands, if not millions died in weeks from plague, rioting and disasters as the infrastructure of hundreds of years came crashing down. Governments lost the ability to feed, communicate or regulate their people and most nations effectively ceased to exist. Those that survived called it “The Burnâ€. Seventy years passed. The survivors have managed to eke out a primit…

I have been trying to come up with a systematic approach to conversion. I thought of Mega-Damage be a +2 Power Advantage that multiplies all BODY damage by 100 before subtracting defenses (it doesn't affect STUN). Then I created Mega-Defense (= MDC), a +1 Power Advantage that divides all BODY damage by 100 before subtracting defenses (it is not Hardened and does not affect STUN) I am also trying to devise just how Magic, Psionics, and Cybernetics work, and if I should create Package Deals or let PCs build on concepts. Any Ideas?

Brighton hollow is my four age campaign for Horror hero. This character exists within 1778 version of the campaign, now two years into the American Revolution where sides between folk are split between supporters of the Revolution and the Continental Army, versus the Tories who support British Rule and Law.
