Hey all, I'm a big fan of the Shadowrun setting (it was my first, you never forget your first), but I don't like the rules. So I'm going to convert it into the Hero rules. Naturally. Anyway, I've already taken care of the Cybernetics n' such. But the magic system, I just wanted some input. I'm trying to figure out the cleanest way to do it. Tentatively, my first issue is dealing with the whole Shamanic system. Keeping in mind, of course, that I'm a huge fan of keeping it simple. So here's my theory. I was going to build Custom Perks for each of the Shamanic Tribes. Each of those Perks will be of approximately the same value (if I go with a 75 + 75 point c…

So, I'm thinking of giving a Western HERO game a shot, but the way I look at it, using HERO I see a whole lot of unconscious characters from gunfights instead of dead ones. It's the Fantasy HERO problem all over again, going back after the fight and "cleaning house" on all the unconscious dead guys. I want this to be like the good old Westerns where most people drop after a single hit, with maybe enough time for a short speech at best unless they're a hero. That said, I see a few solutions. 1) Make all ranged weaponry do X2 damage as a default, and this includes arrows and thrown knives...they always just seem to take people out in a lethal way after one hit. …

In several Anime programs I've seen monk's carrying the same staff. It's got a metal circle on top, which is split down the middle by another band of metal. On either side are smaller metal rings. What is this staff called, and what is it's significance?

Okay actually he does. Check out this month Hero for two famous (and well done) Jacks of the 1800's. An excellent addition to any Victorian campaign. Way to go Michael. G

Just saw two episodes of Cartoon Networlk's new mecha comedy Megas XLR, and while I admit I laughed my silly head off, after picking it up and screwing it back on I was wondering how I would handle this sort of thing in an RPG campaign. The story is about a fgat, lazy car nut finding a mecha from the future in a new jersey junkyard anf, not knowing how it's supposed to work, mading several heavy modififications to it (including using a '69 Mustang as the robot's head). Oddly enough, the mods all work, her turns out to have a natural talenbt for drviving the thing, and when the mech's creators show up to claim it he proves capable of fighting them off 9and leveling mu…

I hope someone here's seen the anime. Guu is a little girl who has weird godlike powers, most notably the ability to swallow anything, even probably a whale or town, into a stomach dimension under her control. Under search, I found that someone proposed a Fantasy Hero-like 'Reality Warping' EDM that ties everything neatly into the swallowing concept. How would the character write-up look like anyway? Give her little-girl physical chars with deific mental chars plus reality warp-swallowing? Should it be MegaScaled Area Effect or something? Psych Lims? What kind of supported HERO genre could I fit her in without looking crazy?

Just curious as to whether anyone out there has ran, or is currently running, a Pulp Hero game? If so, what is some of your best source material and how is the campaign going? Thanks! Doc

Like Bullwinkle says, "This time for sure. Presto!" http://www.metiertigris.com/Hero_Vamp_Masquerade_A.pdf You can get a copy of my first draft document here. Let me know what you think (it's 900kb large, so dial-ups may take a while).

Would there be a point to books on these genres? Or is it just something 'we can work up on our own'? I know I'd buy them. Heck, I'd write them. A lot of people thought the first version of Cyber Hero was pretty bad. I remember the talk. But then, a lot of people said the same thing about Star Hero back in the day, and look where it's come now... Done right, would these be good ideas for books? Certainly WotC proved there's a place for modern genre books, even if it's not their best seller (from what I hear from the completely uninformed rumor mill ). What would these book be about? Am I the only one who wants them? I know there's anot…

G'day I've started a new thread about a campaign inspired by the James Bond novels. It is in the Dark Champions forum, which i think is appropriate, but I am placing this notice for people who (like myself undtil last week) think that espionage is an 'other genre'. Regards, Brett Evill

So, having just seen the movie (loved it), anybody done any work on stating out the Thunderbird machines? How many inches of flight do you need to get from the South Pacific to London in an hour?

I thought I would start a thread to post a few sample mecha, so people can get an idea of what they would look like under Robot Warriors. I have created these solely in accordance with the Robot Warriors mecha creation rules, not using my own updates at all. (FYI: One Mass Unit is 100 kilograms.) To begin: R-17 "Panther" Light Rapid Reconaissance Mecha Weighing in at just under 25 tons, the R-17 Light Rapid Reconaissance Mecha, aka the Panther, is intended to be fast and nimble. Lightly armed and armored, it relies on being difficult to see and hit as its main defenses. On foot it has a maximum speed of 240 kph; its fusion rockets allow it t…

So, I'm reading Stephen King's Wizard and Glass in the Dark Tower series, and I was cuious if anyone had recreated these books. I think that the series is a great combination of epic fantasy, Western Hero, post apocalypric scenarios and gritty science fiction. Anyone done anything with this?

Has anyone put any thought towards Zombie Survival Horror HERO, perhaps as a free pdf? Considering how All Flesh Must Be Eaten is one the single best horror games out there, I was wondering if anyone's either done this already, or is willing to do it. --All HEROes Must Be Eaten NB

Someone in japan actually did a live=action series based on the classic manga and anime Pretty Solider Sailor Moon. YOu would think this would be a recipie for disaster, and a lot of fans originally saw it as a joke, but the end result has turned out so far to be quite watchable. However, the characters are sturning out to be wuite differnet, the plot does not follow the anime storyline, and some fot characters do not behave ion the ways we are used to them behaving. Tuxedo kame, for example, is first seen trying to rob a jewelry store only to be thwarted by Sailor V, who is apparently active in Tokyo. The youma are abbit cheesier than in tiem anime, but what do you …

Earlier this week I finally got a complete set of an anime series that has not yet been released here called Asagiri no Miko ("Miko of the Morning Mist"), about a group of Shbinto priestesses battling a dark god trying to envelop the world into a 'twighlitght mist" of nothingness. I highly recommend this series to anyone why\o has even the slightest interest in incorporating Japanese mysticism into their game. It shows some character who take iot very sreiously and are powerful, some who take it lightly and are still powerful, and characters who have fallen into the dark corners of the struggles among the gods. There is a lot of comedy, but there is also a lot of tra…

Hiya, I was thinking of a fun summer game to run with friends and was thinking about a "Reality TV" type game. I am compiling a list of elements of what would go into such a game, and am hoping some of you may have some ideas. A few things that I have so far: 1. Competitions: These competitions would be for leader of the group (like "head of household" on Big Brother), and for luxuries and immunities from elimination. 2. For 'elimination' (I am going to let each player have three characters to play, and the one with the most characters at the end of the game 'wins'), I was thinking of either having there be a competition where the one with the lowe…

I finally got a near complete version of the document I've been working on. It's my group's rules for using the Hero System to play Vampire: the Masquerade. I now have it updated to the 5th edition and I'm kinda proud of it. Take a look and see what you think. You'll find the PDF in a zip file here. Just right click and save. I also want to thank Robert Harrison for all his help and input and W. Jason Allen for his excellent vampire template in Digital Hero #6.
