I notices that you didn't have Natsuki Sasahara's dagger listed anywhere. If I remember correctly it was made out of orichacum (sp?) and was very durable. Otherwise, I like the character. G

This is a pretty straight-forward thread. I'm wondering whether anyone is using the war in their games in any way. I'm tied into a medieval campaign, right now, and thus can't deal with it myself. But it seems like a goldmine of story possibilities. If you are gaming the war, please include as much detail about what you are doing as possible. Also, list the sources you are using for info. Thanx.

. . . I'm itching to find maps that display sea level a couple of hundred meters below the present. I got hit with an idea for a Post-Apocalyptic game where the Ice has returned with a vengeance . . . Nopers, haven't seen Day After Tomorrow. Really.

While about to refer a fellow HERO gamer interested in pulp-era gaming to Dany St-Pierre's wonderful website of Justice Incorporated-related resources, I discovered that Geocities has recently (no more than a few weeks ago since my last visit) deactivated the site, supposedly due to inactivity. As anyone one who has visited Dany's site can attest, its loss would be a real blow to fans of HERO and the pulp genre. Does anyone know where to get in touch with Dany to inquire as to whether the website going down is a deliberate choice or just an oversight ? Or perhaps just send a heads-up notice?

...so I was looking for a game idea to run this summer for my daughter and her friends. Two of them were playing sorceress characters last summer in my Champs game, and the other (non magic-using) characters dropped out, effectively ending the campaign. I was thinking of doing a "Unified Theme" campaign, keeping those characters as-is but messing w/their backgrounds, and adding some other characters w/mystic or supernatural origins. But the more I thought about it, the less sure I was that I wanted to do a "Supers" campaign at all. So here's what I do know: The game will (probably) be set in the modern day; The PC's will all be mystically/supernatural…

Here's the premise (and forgive any rambling...it's hard to nail this down). Imagine your basic "Western Hero" setting. We're talkin' post-Civil War stuff, late 1800's. Now imagine a bit of magic and steampunk-esque technology thrown in (air ships, steam-powered robots, a guy with a gatling gun for an arm or something similar). It's basically like "Wild Wild West" meets "Deadlands", but not too heavy on the more esoteric aspects. It's still a Western, and it's about outlaws and cowboys and hustlers and rustlers and all that good stuff. If you've seen the comic "Alternation" you have an idea of the setting. What would you call it? "Western Hero" seems a lit…

(the !!! are a sign of quality) College Roommates from Hell is a hilariously funny webcomic. Originally it was a screwball comic about three guys who lived next door to three girls and was straight romantic comedy. Later on in the storyline, the guys got mutated (not in a particularly heroic fashion) and it turned out one of the girls had the special attention of a dark power. The story has now become something of a bargain basement superheroic campaign, albeit without the capes and spandex (other than the time they all got dosed with blue mushrooms and started hallucinating). Highly recommended for being hilariously funny at times and by the seat of your pants in ot…

My local anime club is wtaching the TV seires of Read or Die, which 9at the poiint we are watching) has finally corssed over fully with the OVAs -- and turned my opinions of the PVAs comnpleteley on their ear. Remeber how we thought the people who ran the Spcieal Investigations Unit at the British library were benevolent protectors of the world? Well, it seems they engaged in a massive betrayal of one of their former agents, taking her child away in the hopes that he would (TO SAY WHAT THEY WANTED FROM HIM WOULD BE A SPOILER), leading to the rather explosive "resignation" of Yumiko Readman. The TV series follows the adventures of three paper-mainulator sisters f…

I was wondering if anyone had any luck modeling decent mecha for anime-stylre HERO games? I'm trying to figure out how to do a Gundam-style spaceworthy combat mecha that wouldn't be outrageously abusive to the system.

Well since Susano and Shadowcat have been so kind as to stat out some WW2 vehicles I figured I'd do my part by suggesting some useful resource material for a WW2 campaign. GURPS has done its usual nice job on the GURPS WW2 series, so far they've covered France, England, Germany, Italy, the US and Finland plus the supernatural angle and vehicles. Pinnacle has the Weird War series for D20, but despite the supernatural angle and its intended d20 system Weird War is a great resource for a straight WW2 campaign, they now have books for NW Europe (D-Day), the Russian Front, North Africa and the Pacific. If you are into a supernatural campaign I would really recommend …

In The Ultimate Vehicle it uses the model of 60" per turn as being 1G of accelleration. Those of us who are a little math-savvy know this to be wrong, wrong, wrong. Its a great, linear model for those looking for a number, but not a realistic one. In the text of TUV, it says that those looking for a more realistic model shouldn't have a problem coming up with one. Lets do that now, shall we Accelleration is generaly measured in G's, which is the number of "gravities" that is exerted upon the vehicle (and its occupants) during accelleration. 1 G is equal to about 9.8m/s/s, which we're going to round up to 10m/s/s for ease of math, and because that makes HERO…
