2. Crush Maneuver?

   Okay Steve, I hate to bother you on this, but there is something that is really vexing me. In Hero Designer, and in previous character creation software for the Hero System, there is a Combat Maneuver called Crush. It has to follow a Grab, and adds 4 dice of to the normal STR damage. So far I am pretty sure I am not just dreaming this. BUT! I can't find any published reference to this maneuver. It is not in the index of FrED! It is not in the index of UMA 5th Ed! It is not in the index of Ninja Hero 5th Ed! And scanning through the text of all three has not revealed any concrete evidence of it either. So my question is, once an…

4. Invisibility and Defense Maneuver

   If a character has defense maneuver 4, how is his DCV effected when attacked by an invisible character? Am I interpreting the FAQ correctly that he gets full DCV regardless if he makes a non-targeting perception roll or not...

5. Upgrading CSLs with experience

   Can a character "upgrade" his combat skill levels with experience points by paying the difference? For example, Bob starts out with a 2-pnt CSL with long swords. After some adventuring, he upgrades that to a 3-pnt CSL with swords for 1 XP. After some more combat experience, he upgrades it again to a 5-pnt CSL with H-to-H for 2 XPs. Finally, after more time, he upgrades it to an all-combat level for 3 XPs.

6. speed followup

   To follow up on my previous question, let's take the example of the 5 spd character with +3 spd that costs end. Let's also assume that segments 2, 6, and 11 are the ones where he pays end. 1) Suppose the character gets con stunned on segment 2 before he gets to act, by someone with a higher dex. Does he get to recover from the con stun before or after the extra speed turns off? 2) Suppose the extra speed was powered by an end reserve, such as with a battlesuit. Could the character take a recovery on the extra phases in this case since he's not using personal end?

7. speed that costs end

   If you have a character who purchases extra spd that costs end, what phases are the end costs paid? For example, a spd 5 character purchases +3 spd that costs end to simulate an adrenaline burst. I would assume that he has to pay 3 end in 3 different phases during the turn. Which 3 phases does he pay end? Also, can the character take a recovery in one of his 3 extra phases?

8. Damage on Area Effect attacks

   This question came up on the HML... When rolling damage for an Area Effect attack, do you roll once and apply that damage to each target in the area, or do you roll damage separately for each target? Everyone I've ever known does the former, but I couldn't find it spelled out anywhere. Maybe I missed it.

   Steve, I had a few questions regarding a few powers. Desolidification When using Desolidification to simulate Invulnerability to an attack type (e.g., Electricity), would an Electrical based Energy Blast with the power advantage Affects Desolid affect the character with Desolidification (only vs. Electricity)? 10. Desolid Recovery Followup

    First of all thanks for all the time and effort you put into answering all of these questions. I've learned a lot just following these posts. As for my question. Perhaps I am misunderstanding something here. Deejmister just asked the following question and got the listed reply. But when I check the FAQ for this I found the following. These seem contradictory to me. The way I read it Desolid is a Constant power and therefore you cannot take a recovery while the power is active, even if bought to 0 END, unless you buy it Persistant as well. 13. More Duplicateion questions

    Okay, working on a combining mecha still To start with, a lim I am considering for it Is it legal to take just a side effect and say that you need to roll a skill roll to see if it takes effect even without the RSR (as the power will work either way, the roll is only to prevent the damage)? Number two for cosmetic differences do you require the altered duplicates? For instance if one craft was a bike and another was a dunebuggy the same stats but different "looks" Others will be coming as I think of it

14. VPP Advice

    I have created a character for my wife. She-Devil has a VPP Demonic Spells (Magic Pool) 50 point base and 25 point control cost. I understand that she can have any combination of powers whose total real cost does not exceed 50 points. She requires a skill roll with no active point penalties to change her power, and the powers can be changed as a zero phase action. this makes the pool 100 active points. Now I understand that she can have for expample 1 50 point spell, or a mix of one 20 point spell and one 30 point spell. Is there a limit on the number of spells I can design that she can change to when she makes her skill roll?

17. Pooled Resources for PCs

    Steve Would the idea of Pooled Resources from TUV page 108 be legal for "superhero" based player characters? I'm trying to duplicate the "Whirlwing Pyramid/Rotor Force" from Battle of the Planets/Gatchaman. 2 or more memebers of G-Force can make a mini-torando, the more members in the "Whirlwind Pyramid" the more powerful the torando is. 18. Counteracting DCV Penalty on Sweep

    Can I buy CSLs with DCV to counteract the 1/2 DCV penalty with the Sweep maneuver? If so, how much would the levels cost? What I'm effectively aiming for is a low-level version of an auto-fire HTH attack.
