I have a character who makes his own fireworks. I had to redesign the character and decided the fireworks skill is best represented in a VPP. All fireworks are IAF, Limit (Doesn't work in Water), and RSR(PS: Fireworks) My character has four basic fireworks types right now: Smoke Bomb (Darkness to Sight 1") Firecracker (1pip, Armor Piercing) 1d6 Sight Flash Concussion Bomb (+10 Leaping, no non-combat movement) Right now I have a limit of 10 Active Points in the VPP. I'm looking for any ideas for fireworks that can give my character a variety of things to bring in with him on a job.

Okay, I did not want to post this on the rules boards, as I want to here multiple ideas, but Steve please do respond. The rules issue is one on Foci, specificaly obvious/inobvious My understanding is that if the power is in use it is obviously coming from the Foci then it is obvious, if the item is just needed for the power (a ring that grans EB's from the eyes) then it is Inobvious. My problem comes from varius write ups that hold that if the gadget is NOT in use, but is hidden then it is Inobvious, even when you pull the item out it becomes obvious (A sword hidden in a cane)

This is more of a ‘curiosity’ type question. I was going through the Heroes book and read the section on Combat Skill Levels. It occurred to me that the 8-point CSL seemed odd (not that I ever use it). Why 8 points? An 8 point CSL gives you +1 OCV OR +1 DCV, determined at the start of your phase. For 1 more point, you get +1 OCV AND +1 DCV, all the time. Plus you might get a +1 bonus to all of your Dex-rolls. Plus, for either +0 or +1 points, you get a +1 to your SPD. Given all this, I was wondering why an 8-point CSL exists? BTW: This is just curiosity. Like I said, I never use the 8-point CSL. I use either 3-point skill levels (for one power) or 1…

Hi, I have a champions character who has 3 forms: one is a normal human, another is a magma elemental, and another is a vengeance sprite (think on of the Furies from Greek myth, except male and meaner). Each of these beings is possessing a single form, but have recently gained the ability to take over the form individually (multiform). All three of these forms have 'accidental change' in their disads, and the vengeance sprite is especially greedy/dominant, in that it takes both the human and the magma elemental's will to 'accidentally change' away from the vengeance sprite form (these changes can also be done voluntarily by me, the player, but there is some chan…

The FREd Errata says to "write in 'pizza box' where is says, 'machine gun'" on page 327. As far as I can tell, it doesn't say 'machine gun' anywhere on that page. What's the deal? I assume this is meant to be a joke. Could you explain it please? I don't get it.

I am trying to come up with a power that is like the Whirl Wind Attack of D&D. The idea is that a fighter can take one full attack against any and every oppenent (s)he can reach. I looked at the hand-to-hand weapons in the chart at the back of the book, and I believe the largest Base Point cost is about 35 points. I am inclined to build the power as a naked Advantage: (Naked) Area of Effect: 2" radius, selective target (+1); Works with any hand-to-hand attack with 35 or fewer Base Points (-0); Concentrate: 1/2 DCV (-1/4); End x2 (-1/2); Extra Time: Full Phase (-1/2) [35 active, 16 real, 7 End] I am having a little bit of difficulty with what happens when …

Hello all. I have always liked the Rifts setting, but hated the system and recently I began to study on how I would want to run a Rifts Hero campaign. I do not want to do a conversion, but instead am looking at capturing the feel and ideas presented in Rifts. With that in mind I began to study how I would want my players to create their characters. I want them to be able to create just about any character since a dimensional rift could have deposited them on the Rifts world. So, with this in mind I have a couple of question. 1) Is Rifts a superheroic level or a heroic level campaign? This is the first a most basic question of the campaign. At the moment …

Hi Everyone, I was just wondering if someone could clarify for me the rules for using objects of opportunity (cars, lamp-posts, baseball bats) in Champions. My understanding is that the target takes the number of points of DEF and BODY that the object has in dice damage (eg. if it had Def=3 and Body=2 the target would take 5d6 normal damage). Is this correct? Do you get to add strength? Thanks for your help Daz

Here we have an old trick. The character takes a poison that "kills" him, only to let him come back a few days later. I was thinking about how to approach this. First of all, invisible power effects for body (10 points aught to do it). We'll couple that with a whopping Drain STUN ( 60 points, pluss a couple of extended time period advantages) just to keep the character down and out for a while. add all necessary limitations (OAF, Fragile, 1 charge, no range for the stun). As soon as the "dearly departed" regains enough stun to wake up, the invisible power effects wear off. Does that work? Sorry, I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find it. He…

This is a power concept that I want to surprise my GM with... Auto-Defenses. The idea is that I combine a computer, special senses (including ‘Future-Seeing’ for 1 phase), and a power pool for defenses. This would actually be a power and not a device (which it appears to be with the inclusion of a computer). The computer would automatically adjust the Power Pool to contain the proper defenses needed for that phase. By using a computer, it can be almost completely independent of me. My only control would be turning it on or off. For most types of attacks, there would be no problems. The pool creates the appropriate defense power. Even ALVD powers can be dea…

I am creating a character and I want him to be able to pull of a number of tricks with his EB. All of these tricks seem to be covered under the spread rules. But I don't want him to have to reduce the power of his blasts to get the effects. So the answer is obvious, buy him additional dice of EB with the disad only to spread. The additional dice would be unable to add stun, body or knockback to the attack. So how much of a disad is this worth?

I have a spacer character that sometimes deals in things he would rather not have found on his ship. I would like to make his concealment rolls more effective, and was looking for something a bit more inventive than just buying up his Concealment roll. I will do that if it seems to be the concensus, though. What I want is for him to be able to take time (an hour or more) to be able to hide things on his ship VERY well. I would guess that on average, hiding a crate or so of cargo might be a 1-5 minute action. That gives him 2 moves down the chart if he takes an hour, or a +2. I would like another +3 or so, which I can get for 6 points if I buy the skill up. I con…

I want to buy Suppress as a Damage Shield. I want the Suppress to have Continuing Charges (that is, when a target gets affected, the Suppress lasts for X amount of time). I also want the Damage Shield to have a Continuing Charge (that is, when the Damage Shield is turned on, it remains in effect for Y amount of time). How do I buy this? Do I take the Continuing Charge Limitation/Advantage twice? Thanks, -AA

Hi, folx! I wanted to let those of you with Hero Designer know that we recently added an Ultimate Vehicle Character Pack to the Online Store. It includes all the sample vehicles and vehicle tech from TUV in easy-to-use HD format. Pick yourself up a copy and keep on truckin'. If you have any questions, please post them in the "Company Questions" thread of the same name.

I want to build a weapon with various attack powers as a multipower with different fixed slots for the different attacks. Energy blast, cutting beam killing attack, flash to sight. I want the operator to have to fiddle some controls to switch settings/multipower slots. Any sugestions on that the lim should cost to take a half phase to switch between slots on a multipower? Is it just not worth points? Am I being too confusing? Thanks ahead of time, Narthon

Way back when, I build a 30 Str Telekinesis power and gave it the Uncontrolled advantage. I defined it (and the GM agreed) as a ‘multi-Telekinesis’. The idea behind it was that I could use a part of it to do a task and then, without releasing the first part, use a second part to do a second task. Kind of like walking, reading and drinking a Pepsi at the same time (which I do on a regular basis). You ‘set’ your walking on ‘autopilot’. As long as nothing unusual happens, you don’t need to pay any attention to it. This frees you to read while you’re walking. When you want to take a drink, you interrupt you reading for a second or two and the resume you…

Hi, I'm trying to build a Teleporter PC with a twist. I want his main power to be the special effect for most of his abilities, so I'm considering having his teleportation damage everything in its path. As a move combined with an attack, it looks like a move-by, but really isn't, as velocity has nothing to do with it and multiple targets can be hit. I think I need help. How would you construct this ? Rakshasa.

This is an old debate that was never resolved. It kind of died, but I was still curious about it. Waaayyyy back when, I had a character who had a starship. In building it, I increased the ship’s DCV (I didn’t like a negative DCV). A player in the group commented that the DCV bonus would cause the passengers/crew to be thrown around whenever it was used, since DCV was defined as a character’s innate ability to evade attacks. I countered, saying that my ship’s DCV was actually a virtually impenetrable force field. My justification was that DCV game-effect was to prevent the character/ship from taking any damage. The player countered by saying the DCV caus…

Basically, I am curious what the ‘dividing line’ is between ‘equipment’ and ‘powers through a focus’. This is important since ‘equipment’ costs only 20% of what ‘powers through a focus’ costs. Thanks MistWing SilverTail

Hello everyone. I have an idea which is really a hodge podge of different things. In this "hodge-podge" characters can create just about any character that they can think of. This has lead to a problem in character creation, because I want all the characters to be based off the same amount of points. I want the players to be able to make up the gritty fantasy fighter, the swashbuckling space pirate, or the superhero. Of course, I realize they might not be able to do it exactly, but I want them at least to be able to get close. So, here is my idea. The campaign will be run without any of the optional rules there will be knockdown, but not knockback. Character…

While reading the Until Superpowers Database book, I came across a sidebar mentioning how to make an ‘Energy-Controlling’ Telekinesis power. The sidebar implied that a given TK power could be either an ‘Energy-Controlling’ TK power or a ‘normal’ TK power, but not both. Is there a way to make a TK power both? Thanks MistWing SilverTail

Everone knows how a character is build up Start from base 10 stats and increase them when your Figured characteristics change and you want to increase them what has the base value to do with the construction of a character? (base value - each characterics in figured characteristics table is though differend) Do you use it to increase the base value scores or is it the score that is based on the primary stats that is altered? or is it both? Suppose a character would look like this Cp used: 150 10 Strength > 15 * 5 cp 10 Dexterity > 10 * 0 cp 10 Constitution > 15 * 10 cp …
