More specifically, the San Fernando Valley area, if possible. I apologize if this is off topic for the board, but I am moving back to L.A. from Denver, and don't know where to go to get all the new stuff coming out. I prefer to support my brick-and-mortar gaming store. Thanks to anyone who can help, and if there is a better area for this post, I apologize. Chris

This is a copy from the Company Questions Forum. I wanted to make sure that you got this. I am currently working on a project converting about 140 characters, vehicles, bases, computers, etc. from 4th to 5th. I'm using Hero Designer to do the work. Unfortunately, HD doesn't Export exactly per the WG. I've been working with Dan to create Export tags and the like to get it closer to the WG. What I'm wondering is how much leniency are you giving to the creation of characters and such using HD? These characters I'm building will be for submission in publications. So I'm very concerned about it. I have all the characters entered in HD and converted to 5th. Now i…

How should I design a weapon that shoots armor piercing shells with an explosive charge that goes off after penetrating the armor? Common sense tells me this explosive damage should not only bypass any Armor but also do much more damage if it explodes inside a person. --------- Spacht

I bought both Star Hero and the Bestiary today. I'm really impressed with Star Hero and you can expect me to write something for Digital Hero at some point in time. I hope everyone had a good day today. I certainly did.

I got the idea from Star Hero's Psionic Potential Talent, Keith Curtis' Limited XP disad, and listening to the common complaint that FH PC's tend to overlap after a while. I originally posted it at the Fantasy Hero Site, but I felt it might have a broader appeal... Limitless Potential provides the character with the ability to spend XP beyond the established campaign limits in a specific area. The breadth of the area determines the cost of the Talent. Limitless Potential w/ one skill: 5 points Limitless Potential w/ 3 skills or tight group: 10 points Limitless Potential w/all noncombat, HTH or Ranged Combat: 15 points Limitless Potential w/ one Charac…

How do velocity and SPD relate? For example do you calculate the damage somebody does with a move through/by on only the hexes moved that phase or does speed somehow enter into it?

I recently came across a problem building a secondary weapon system for a power armored villian. I'd like for his weapon to be a 20mm gatling gun, but it appears way cheaper to build the exaxt same weapon as an gatling laser gun (because of the cost of charges). Has anyone found a solution for this? Mightybec

The Invisibility description states that attacks the invisible character makes are not also rendered invisible unless they have IPE. The example is an invisible fantasy warrior who attacks a goblin with his sword, only to have the sword immediately become visible. I'm trying to build an Invisibility effect for my own campaign, and I don't want that to be the case. If an invisible warrior punches you or swings a weapon at you, you don't see a fist or a weapon blink into view, you just get whacked by an attack you can't see. Of course, making every character take IPE on their STR to accomplish this would be silly, as would giving all weapons IPE. How would I…

This question I found while reviewing NH and UMA, but I feel is general enough to be posted here. A common ability is a character charging up his weapon to do more damage. An interesting version of this is commonly seen in Anime where high-school students to grand masters seem to constantly carry around a Bokken (wooden version of a Katana [5d6 Normal Damage UMA pg. 169]), get into a tough situation, then charge up and proceed to cut through things like trees, walls, cars, and people (with or without the large splash of blood). A good example of this is the anime Demon City Shinjuku. So here is my question: The damage has obviously become Killing damage. …

I'm trying to work up a character whose main powers only kick in when he's in hero form (which he has certain disadvantages for changing to so to be worth an OIHID (it gives off a fairly noticable light among other things)). Thing is, some of his powers also rely on certain objects, which are basically normal items until he transforms, and can be removed as appropriate in either hero or secret ID (i.e. a hand-held object is still hand-held in hero ID). I realize the book says you shouldn't have OIHID and any of the Focus Limitations on the same power, but I'm not sure how to reflect the "can be taken away from character" and "only useful when transformed" bits without app…

Okay I'm making a necromatic spell: Create Lesser Undead (seleton, zombie etc...) Was thinking of using summon 8 180 point creatures... Then I started bogging down on the Foci. I want the spell to have a focus. but should it be the bodies or the graveyard/battlefield/whatever. That lead me to maybe using Transform instead of Summon. 8 dead dudes to 8 undead dudes... What would YOU do....

I'm putting together a character with a slightly strange power construct. Basically, he has a HKA which also reduces his targets END - first with a Transfer, and when that can absorb no more points, with a Drain. I was planning to put the Drain and Transfer in a Multipower to reduce the cost, and then MPA the HKA and the relevant slot from the Multipower. The question is this: can I place Linked on the overall Multipower? (each of the slots has a lower AP cost then the HKA) I can't see any reason why not in FReD, but Hero Designer won't let me and Dan is normally quite accurate about these things... Hope this makes some sense, and opinions please …

As the title states this really isn't a "rules" question, but I don't really know where else to post this? How many posts are required to raise your title past "incompetent normal"? It seems to require quite a few more that the temp boards did. While I'm on the topic, how many posts are required for the various levels?

What is the best way to create cheap stand-up cardboard miniatures customized to your particular character/vehicle. etc.? Preferably these would fit in a hex grid and be able to move properly during a game.

This could very easily be placed in with Non-Gaming Discussion because of the intense level of psychology and neurology behind it but it still pertains to gaming. In a recent/ongoing situation involving my character Cas on The Savage Earth at www.herocentral.net I found my character facing what I believe was continious mind reading. This was, hands-down, the hardest role-playing moment for me. It was difficult because I had to strive to post all In Character thoughts the character was having while trying to figure out, Out of Character what I was doing and distinguishing the difference between the two. For example, Out of Character I know that I would like to e…

Woot! After a couple of hiccups, I can officially say I'm back! For the curious, my own HERO Page is slowly growing. The main attraction is still my editorial about the differences between 4th & 5th Edition, located HERE. Post any suggestions/comments here, or send 'em via the email link at the bottom of the page I finally relented and added (and have gotten 3 pieces of junk mail at... ) Hopefully everyone else starts coming back soon

Moved from another category: When building a piloted mecha, and that mecha is unique to that particular pilot (that is, each pilot in the game has his own unique mecha), do you design the characters as Superheroes with mecha as Powers, or do you build them as Heroic characters and don't make them pay for their mecha? Also, if you are building a vehicle for a single player character and you are in a heroic campaign, is there any sort of limit on the number of points the vehicle can be built on, or is the vehicle completely independent of the character?

I'm building the a mage slayer weapon. It is essentually a long sword with a couple of magical ability. It also has some powers that are always active that are invoked any time a person who can use magic comes in contact with the sword. This is my thoughts on the power: Sword Energy Reserve Sword Ability Multipower 1) Standard Long Sword HKA 2) Mage Slash EB Beam (uses Sword Energy Reserve) 3) Detect Magic User (uses Sword Energy Reserve) Mage Slayer Elemental Control 1) Transfer END to Sword Energy Reserve, Continious, Always On 2) 1d6 Drain BODY Continious, Always On 3) 1d6 Drain STR Continious, Always On 4) 3d6 Drain STUN Continiou…
