Hi everyone, new to the forum and, well, to the whole Hero/Champions games. I bought CN since I followed and played some of Ron’s rpgs. It’s a fascinating system, but a bit crunchier than i’m used to. Bonus points, english is not my native language and I’m an insecure person, so I accumulated a considerable list of newbish questions: - What kind of “single, specific attack” is eligible for Find Weakness? Can my hero just stare long enough his target before striking the killing blow with his demonic katana? Would that be handled with a presence attack or with another mechanic? - Move-by and move-through: can someone provide an example of these…

So, as I understand it, RAW when you take a recovery you can't spend END so your powers shut down. That means it's impossible for characters to do the usual super trope of being on patrol/traveling long distances/etc with their powers active. Powers are short-lived things. I saw someone had a build with a character that was paralysed from the waist down but had flight, so assumedly flew around as a super. But...by the rules, they'd have to drop down and take a breather every few rounds which seems...weirdly unheroic. Or does the game account for this in some way I've missed?

Just got word that the printed books arrived. How many? Don't know. First dibs clearly gonna be the Kickstarter backers who wanted a print copy. But if you want the print version, you can start checking the store here.

Does anyone know if this game will be added as an option within Hero Designer? I would find it incredible useful if it ended up happening. I'm a long time HD user. So I tend to rely on it pretty heavily for character and campaign management.

I was wondering when this is actually going to come out on DriveThru or anywhere else for that matter for everyone outside the Kickstarter group? I missed the Kickstarter because I didn't know about it so I 'm not in that group.

How Champions Now is Different From Other Champions Rulesets (With some errata and rules clarifications) Here's a collection of information that I've confirmed with the author about the rules as of July 4, 2020. I may add or edit this as new issues arise. Most of this is about dispelling assumptions of us who are familiar with other Hero rule sets. A few things are actually missing or unclear in the text. The best way to read and understand the Champions Now text is to take the text literally without outside connections. Pretend you have never read a roleplaying game before and have no assumptions to bring into the text. Do not connect what…

(Please post any questions or discussion about content of this thread to ) In this thread I'll lay out an example of developing a Champions Now game. This comes from a game I GMed early in 2019 using the Beta rules. As time allows, I will post each player character in a separate post. Then I'll write about developing NPCs and villains based on their Situations. Then, I plan to post a number of important villain character sheets. I'll be copying some of the material I wrote on the Adept Play forum last year, but leaving out the actual play summaries and a discussion on emergent plot. You can find those at Champions Now Beta playtest--Seattle and Champion…

A friend who supported the Kickstarter let me look over the PDF version of the game. And honestly? It is causing me to buy the physical version as soon as it becomes available. I want more time with it. I want to kick its tires and play it in the wild. It's something that definitely interests me.

Shrinking and Growth are "pay END to activate/deactivate." DI and possibly Desolid feel logically similar...but they're "pay the END every phase." To further complicate the picture, the advantage Persistent says "requires the initial END to activate, but not to maintain or turn off." AND specifically includes Growth and Shrinking, as well as Desolid and DI. It does not mention whether a Persistent power is maintained should the character be knocked unconscious/choose to sleep while maintaining the power, etc. Even if Persistent is intended as "it stays on until I explicitly turn it off, or it's negated by an outside force"...it's not worth a +…
