Buy the appropriate Range Advantage. See FREDp266 or 6e1p344. Duke Bushido
Matt the Bruins
Also, if you want to increase the range by a lot and aren't worried about using the power within a single combat phase, Increased Maximum Range (x16) has the same advantage cost as the first level of MegaRange (x1,000,000). unclevlad
Increased Max Range is nice, but it doesn't help with the range mods. An attack power with 20 base points...that's only 4d6 Blast...still has 200m range, and that has a range mod of -10 at max range. You can buy Line of Sight for + 1/2, and while that can be blocked sometimes, it still kills the Range Mod while letting you shoot to the far horzon. Oh, and one point about Megascale...it shifts the range mod scale too. Finally, there's a point to note on p. 340. The shooter has to be able to perceive the target or he's at 0 OCV. So remember that you've got the range mods for your perception too, no matter how you're electing to improve your range. Personally, I find that Limited Range is one of the easiest limitations to apply to most ranged attack powers for those reasons. Setting up for VERY long range attacks gets to be expensive. You can offset that penalty to a certain extent by using area of effect attacks and targeting the ground near what you want to hit. That's tough on the background environment and on bystanders but you have to break a few eggs to make an oubliette. Scott Ruggels

And yeah, that's got high collateral damage, which *should* be drawing criticism. You can do some other things... --AVAD or NND. That means fewer base dice, so the cost of LOS or Inc Max Range is lower. --Ranged martial arts can add DCs, so again you lower the base cost you've got to apply the range mod to. You're also obviously paying for the AoE, and on top of that, you lose another relatively easily applied limitation...Beam. And you may well need a decent bit of Telescopic, which isn't terribly expensive but still adds on. Not saying it can't be done...it's just probably narrowing your options quite a bit.
