Pariah
So, I'm a sedentary old arthritic guy who needs to get back into some kind of shape. Where I am right now suggests that flexibility it's probably my first step, after which I can start looking at more intense forms of exercise. What I'm looking for is a 15 to 20 minute stretching routine that I can do each morning. My flexibility right now is not great, especially in my arthritic ankles. Basically I'm just looking for a place to start. Do any of you have a stretching routine that you use, or that you've seen other people use? Something for beginners would be ideal. Tjack
A lot of people have good things to say about Tai-Chi. Low impact, easy on the joints, builds strength and flexibility. Also there’s a lot of versions for different types of health problems. Good luck. Pariah

Bazza
Tai-Chi practiced properly is a martial art. Perhaps qi gong would be a better choice.

That’s true but there are different versions like, “Tai-Chi for Seniors”, “Tai-Chi for Cardiac Patients” and so on. Maybe it’s an affront to serious martial arts enthusiasts but it also may be what’s most useful here. Also, when practiced properly Qi Gong is a religion (For lack of a better term) and that doesn’t seem to bother you.
Bazza
No, as Qi Gong, Tai Chi, and Wing Chung/Kung Fu have their origin at Shaolin Temple which is Chan Buddhist. Chan is the original name the Japanese call Zen. The benefits from from practicing Qi Gong, Tai Chi or Kung Fu can be gained independently from Chan Buddhism of course. And my comment about Tai Chi comes from a Shaolin master teacher who published a book on Tai Chi and I reiterated his view. I have that book and others by him on Zen, Qi Gong, and Shaolin itself (a compendium on the mentioned topics. If @Pariah is interested, I’d pass the details along. Pattern Ghost
I'd suggest scouring YouTube until you find a stretching routine that works for you. Most of the "beginner" videos I looked at had some moves I probably would avoid given my own circumstances. But there are plenty of "follow along" stretching and warm up videos to chose from. Bazza
My aunty has one that might be helpful, I’ll ask her.
Starlord
Once you get though beginner videos, I would check out the following videos for examples of extreme stretching routines: Fantastic Four Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer The Incredibles The Incredibles
Bazza
You left out the most recent Fantastic Four stretching routine.
