Western Hero: Rough and Ready Roleplaying

I did think it was a little strange that it's been out since the 18th but not mentioned, so I thought I'd better announce it.

I've finished skimming through the book, and it's pretty good. The added Talents and modified combat rules are interesting.

It's a genre book with a modified form of the core rules included, a bit like how Lucha Libre Hero was done. At 276 pages for the PDF, it's a good deal at $15.

I'm liking what I've seen skimming through it, although I think some of the reference info is a little suspect.  The floorplan for a farmhouse includes a kitchen island and two interior bathrooms, which I'm not sure is 100% period

It makes me wonder what other new things might be getting added to the store but not announced.

I picked up several fantasy hero for 6th PDFs last week and don't recall them being mentioned unless it was quite awhile ago. One was a list if Paladin spells.

On topic. I rate it 5 starts. Has everything I'd want in a Western rpg plus some. I may go back and see if I still have my old Boot Hill stuff for extras. I'm happy with it though :)

And how many stops? :sneaky:

On a serious note, it is definitely on target and a great book.

In addition to Boothill, Chaosium's Down Darker Trails and Shadows Over Stillwater are also great resources.  While CoC is a horror RPG, DDT can easily be played non-horror and Chaosium does good background work.

I was guessing while away from my work computer, so its under 300 :)  Shouldn't have needed padding, though, that's frustrating.  I had it perfectly divisible by 4 when I sent it to Hero; they must have added a page somewhere.  Hope it didn't throw off the table of contents.

I got the POD from DriveThruRPG, so if Hero did a print run, then that's not the one i got.  The extra pages were all at the end, so they couldn't have thrown off the TOC.
