assault
I've noticed that a lot of spells have common limitations. Obviously, taking advantage of this to hose hostile casters would be a good idea. So, ways to do it?
Tjack
Well, the cliche in fantasy is to bind the hands and mouth of captive wizards so they can’t gesture mystically or incant a spell. In comics, Zatanna was taken out of a brawl when the Justice League took on Deathstroke by his making sure to hit her in the throat fast to keep her from using her backwards spoken magic. drunkonduty
Mr. R
Incantations-- Darkness to sound (Silence 15' radius) Choking gas Tackle the mage as he is speaking ( make an ego roll to finish the incantation) Etc Gestures --Choking gas Tackle the mage as he is speaking ( make an ego roll to finish the incantation) Entangles Knock down / Knock back attacks etc drunkonduty
Christopher R Taylor
Yeah the most obvious ways are to disable the ability to use common limitations like incantations and gestures. Technically you aren't stopping an incantation simply by making an area quiet (just because someone cannot hear them doesn't mean that they aren't incanting), but most GMs allow that with darkness, for example. Concentration and extra time allow for interruptions, and so on. You can use a Change Environment to make someone's magic skill roll worse, which often leads to uncomfortable side effects.
