You still hear about it, and Sanchez generally would be up there, but Romo and Dak are subjects of a wider array of trolling memes, I suspect.

IF!!! I remember the way the personal conduct policy works, a felony indictment is sufficient to trigger a suspension.

The QB merry-go-round is well underway:

- Reports are that Green Bay is “done with” Kaaron Rodgers and plan to move on with Jordan Love.
- Rodgers has been linked to the Jets, where his former OC Hackett wound up.
- However there are serious questions as to whether special snowflake Rodgers could handle the New York media market. Derek Carr is thought to be a better overall fit for the Jets.
- Rodgers could then wind up reunited with Davante Adams in Vegas. Certain Raiders fans are less than thrilled with this possibility.
- Meanwhile the Saints have their eye on Baker Mayfield after the latter’s brief late season renaissance with the Rams. The Saints are expected to make a run at Rodgers first though.
- Also in play are Garoppolo and possibly even Brady, either of whom might wind up in Vegas with former OC McDaniels. Certain Raiders fans are less than thrilled with these possibilities.
- Mariota is most likely to wind up as a bridge QB (again) with a team like the Colts. It’s clear he will not be returning to Atlanta.

If Mariota is to be a placeholder, there's a good chance it wouldn't be with the Colts.  This is believed to be a very good year to get one in the draft, and with Lawrence doing well the second half of the season, and all the young QBs that have elevated their teams *sharply*...the rumor mill's flooded with talk of *several* trades, including at the top of the draft.  One writer had Chicago trading down *twice* to get lots of assets.

Bombshell story in The Athletic this morning.

https://theathletic.com/4243182/2023/02/24/russell-wilson-pete-carroll-seahawks-request/

Russell Wilson:

--tried to get Pete Carroll and GM John Schneider fired

--pulled a Brady...had his own people, including a separate QB coach.  (We've heard this one before.)

--asked offensive players to come in on Tuesdays...the only off day.  Wilson and his QB coach ran them.

This also suggests that Hackett mishandled things by not stomping on the latter 2 points.  Sean Payton is apparently going to kick Wilson's team out.

If the allegations are true and Wilson tried to get Carroll fired to be replaced by Sean Payton, that could actually bode well for next season, given that Wilson's HC is now Sean Payton.  And I came across an interesting article describing how Payton (or any non-idiot HC) could fix Russell Wilson in Denver.

Me, I'm just hoping the Raiders don't trade for Kaaron Rodgers.  Jesus.  It'd be like putting the Kardashians at QB.

The 2 key points:

1.  Snyder took out a $55M loan w/o the approval of his co-owners, and used it for personal gain.  This may well be embezzlement.

2.  Snyder's demanding indemnification by the league, so he can't be held liable for the Commanders' issues...as a condition of sale.  Yeah, this one's floating like a neutronium balloon.

Tis the season to save cap space, la de da de da de da.......

This time it's Marcus Mariota.  Who wasn't even all that expensive;  the number was only $12M.  Methinks that suggests they'll be all in on a QB from the draft.

Also looks like Mariota is gonna go down as one of the bigger overall QB busts, unless a miracle occurs now.  Not likely.  But hey, he'll still get a couple mill a year, for several more years likely, to tote a clipboard.

Of note there.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/35752687/irv-cross-former-nfl-star-analyst-died-2021-had-cte

A paragraph from the story that is deeply troubling:

Quote

Irv Cross, of course, was not alone in misery among his former NFL brethren. According to its latest report, the BU CTE Center said it has diagnosed 345 former NFL players with CTE out of 376 former players who were studied, a rate of 91.7%. The disease can be diagnosed only after death.

Granted:  they're almost certainly studying those who showed signs of CTE;  this isn't a random selection of patients.  That's stated explicitly here:
https://www.bumc.bu.edu/busm/2023/02/06/researchers-find-cte-in-345-of-376-former-nfl-players-studied/

But that is a truly terrifying degree of correlation.

To make things worse, he was ticketed for doing 89 in a 45 mph zone in September.  There are 2 major elements:

--to the teams, this goes to character/maturity.  That said, we know darn well that only goes so far.  Instead of the first non-QB?  Probably won't fall below mid-1st round.

--to the courts, OTOH, this could be a significant factor in sentencing.  Couple that with the overall situation...that 2 people died in this...and it becomes plausible a judge will look past "oh he's a football hero" and drop a sentence closer to the maximum (IIRC, a year on each count.)

Did they confuse the Raiders with another team?

Nope.  Did you read the detailed breakdown?  Click on the Raiders.

At this workplace, the lowest graded category was the coaching staff. Player respondents felt that head coach Josh McDaniels is less likely to listen to his players and keeps them for longer hours than other head coaches around the league. Longer hours are not correlated to winning, as seven of the top eight coaches rated as being most efficient with their players' time in the 2022 survey made the playoffs this year.
