Back in the day, it was very unlikely that your parents would take you to see any of the James Bond movies.  (I know my dad wouldn't take us to a James Bond double feature at the local drive-in.)

 

But you could still have the toys.

 

My brother had the James Bond Attache Case--

 

Dad was a fan, his first date with Mom was to see Goldfinger. I remember seeing Moonraker in the theater, and I think we went to see The Spy Who Loved Me back in '77. 

 

Then again, I wasn't allowed a GI Joe figure as a young kid, but I did have the figure of Cornelius from Planet of the Apes ("He's a scientist, you know"-Mom)

I always thought the Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots were a work of art--

 

Bought myself a new toy, mainly because I wanted something that plays music with an actual headphone jack. I think the whole player is actually smaller than the cassette tape it's showing on its screen (it shows different grades of tape based upon the bitrate/encoding of the file, with HF Type I for MP3, though I usually turn it off to save battery life). It's Android, so I can also stream from a variety of sources, including my Plex server.

I had no idea there were WKRP toys. You would think MEGO-sized action figures were a possibility,

but I imagine boys would have done some completely inappropriate things with the Jennifer Marlowe doll.

When can we expect you to post the reviews?

I will not see my colleagues in Reading until November and it all depends on them wanting to play those games. It took several years for them to select Wingspan and Mansions of Madness is still waiting a run out.

I jumped on getting Viticulture after having to wait nearly a year to get Castles of the Mad King Ludwig. It was out of stock/print.

The only game I have got that has not gone down that well is Villainous.

 

Wingspan went down well but it has a simple play guide for start up and this was invaluable. I would advise people to use that first to get you used to the game.

I have a copy of Wingspan, but I've never played it.  Opened it and read the rules, but haven't had opportunity to play it.

Viticulture is great! Essential Edition is even better.

 

I love Wingspan. I like engine builders. But to be honest, my favorite part of the game is just reading the cards. An amateur birder’s dream come true.

In 1974, Mego gave Star Trek its first line of accurate-to-the-series toys (the AMT model kits notwithstanding) even if the Klingon was packing a phaser instead of a disruptor.  A welcome change from the downright lackadaisical efforts put out by Remco.

 

 

No Sulu, no Chekov. But not bad representations of Kirk, Spock and McCoy. Think my brother and I had the Kirk, Spock and Klingon toys.

There was a brief mention of Uhura but she was wearing yellow?

The Uhura figures I saw wore red uniforms.  I remember Uhura wore a gold uniform in the TOS episode "Mudd's Women" but to my knowledge there's no figure of her in a TOS gold uniform.
