Stanley Teriaca
Hello folks. I need your help. You see, I need to help populate the superhero soap opera "To Save The World". The soap opera focuses on the private lives of The Saviors, a group of seven heroes in a show which takes comic book troups and mixes them with soap oprea troups. Not only does the show focus on the team, but also there wives, children, and even there enimies and there families also. So, what can you tell me about them? (I remember doing this in the past, but I can't find the thread I posted the idea before. And I was inspired by my Champions Next post to ask the board for there ideas.) In case anyone needs a refresher, I'll Just Leave This Link Here. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SoapOpera Edited June 25 by Stanley Teriaca Christopher R Taylor
Stanley Teriaca
Saviorman (3): Tomas James the 3rd is the secret identity of the founder of The Saviors, Saviorman. The world thinks of him as the third superhero who used the name. He is a rich businessman with a large family, and is a FIST type (Flying, Indestructable, and Strength). In reality there is no Tomas James the 3rd. As Saviorman's powers includes a long lifespan, he has faked his death twice before and will do so again when people realise Tomas James doesn't actually age. The above is not his dark secret. His true dark secret is that he has killed before, and might kill again to get his own way. Saviorman is actually a grey character who is not purely good or bad. He is also on his fourth wife (most of them humans with a short lifespan).

Stanley Teriaca
9 hours ago, Christopher R Taylor said: I'd love to pitch in here but this is just not in my wheelhouse Understandable. Soap operas are on there way out, considering the target audience is now mostly working now and stuff like that. But without the soap opera, we wouldn't have scripted evening dramas. And what did women do before television? Listen to soap operas on radio of course. Now on to the next character... Mystica: Mystica is Victoria (insert long line of husband names here) nee Davidoter. She is an ageless white witch who seems to fall in love at a drop of hat and had a long list of husbands and lovers from the Victorian era to modern times (both super and normal). She has spells she can cast to alter her appearance (which explained why her role gets recast often without the chestnut of death). Her power set is control of the four elements, plant life, animal life (trained animals on set), healing, and transformation (while human to animal, this is the explanation of casting changes among the heros...they ask her to 'disguise' them because person x is blackmailing them, etc...) Her dark secret? The magic makes her unable to conceive children. And her first husband is still around as a deadly supermage.
Stanley Teriaca
Outlaw: Outlaw is Gean Heartthorn, a skilled hi-tech masked robber.. He was married to Mytica for a short time. His secret...he is bisexual. His gadgets include a laser gun disguised as an old west revolver, a robot horse, and an solid energy rope to lasso and tie up his victims. Melody James: Melody is the 18 year old daughter of Saviorman. She doesn't appear to have powers of her own. Her dark secret...she does have a few powers from her dad, but they are minor and she doesn't like to use them and seen useless in combat. Stanley Teriaca
Fearleader: Megan (last name unknown) is the Fearleader, a teenage high school dropout who turned to crime her mentalism mutant powers are the empathic ability to project fear. Her costume is an all black cheerleader outfit, black pompoms, and a skull mask. She has no known dark secrets that we know of, but she may be an legitimate daughter of one of the male Saviors. death tribble
For the enemies how about a Dr Doom reference ? Saviorman was at college or at work and clashed with someone who vowed revenge and became his arch-enemy ? Kind of like Reed Richards and Victor Von Doom

Who wants to give us Saviorman's arch nemisis, and remember he should also be able to challange Saviorman socially as well as physically and maybe romantically. It is a soap oprea world after all. Stanley Teriaca
Iron Gauntlet: Iron Gauntlet is one Stanley Serverson, inventor and CEO of Serverson Technologies. He is also the archenimie of Saviorman and the Saviors. For years he has blamed Saviorman for the death of his wife (another scientist who Saviorman actually did murder to stop her own plan for world domination). Once Saviorman is dead, Iron Gauntlet plans on acting on his wife's plan in her memory. His power set is a powered armor and mega weapon which is more a plot device. Stanley Teriaca
In case your wondering, there might be only 5 or 6 full members of the Saviors which we need to write up, and the rest a so.pls paragraph and suggested power source. And maybe between that many villains of a full writeup. The rest get paragraphs detailing family members and such, and minor villains. So don't worry about if we fill an encylapedia worth of people. Stanley Teriaca
Hotshot: David Smith Sr. is the Savior's gay energy projector (physical waves of heat special effect, not fire). The standard flight, force field, and blast. His deep dark secret WAS his sexuality, but he is now healthy and happy and married to his husband. No, his new deep dark secret is his evil love child from the time he was in the closet is out there, has super powers of his own, and hates him so much he became the villain Black Ice. Black Ice: An evil teenage ice projector who is rebelling against his father. He is David Smith Jr. And he plans to hurt and kill his father no mater what. His 'secret' is that he is being pushed into crime by his mother, who is a bitter ex-wife who can't admit that she was part of the problem also. Stanley Teriaca
Why am I the only one contributing? I understand that Christopher opped out because he isn't familiar with the soap opera aspect of the assignment, but nothing from @BoloOfEarth, or maybe a lore dump from @Lord Liaden about the official Champions Universe in universe soap opera, or advice from anyone who ran a Soap Opera Champions campaign? Stanley Teriaca
Things to do list... Evil twin (not a clone)... Former criminal whose dark secret is that he is a former criminal still wanted for crimes done in his old identity... Female character having an affair (and maybe still married to her ex without knowing it)... Things already done... Dark secrets (almost everybody)... On the Saviors side: 'Evil' father type (Saviorman)... Glamorous woman with a long string of husbands (Mystica)... Has a rebellious son (Hotshot)... Relatives: Might be a super (Melody James)... Might be a super AND might have a villain relative (Melody Samuels, Andrea Winslow, Deanna Marshall)... Otaku no Japan (Jojo Rodrigo, television reporter)... Villians: Sexuality (Outlaw)... Unknown parent (Fearleader)... Revenge for dead wife (Iron Gauntlet)... Rebellious son (Black Ice)... Secret cat burglars (maybe) without funny names (defently) (the trio of Susanna and Jenilee Snow, and there cousin Priscllia Alden) Note: this grouping is here cause they fall under grey characters. If used they will probally be a simple paragraph... Returned From The Dead, Powered By The Inferno, Secret Super (Johnny Brimstone)... Mark Rand
Taken from one of my Pittsburgh threads. Andrea Winslow is a local medevac pilot. She flies with Melody Samuels, BSN, RN, CFRN (Certified Flight Registered Nurse), PHRN (Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse), and Flight Paramedic Deanna Marshall. If there's a dark secret, it's that one either has super powers or is related to a criminal.

Mark Rand
Sisters Suzanne and Jenilee Snow, who suffer from asthma and allergies, and Priscilla Alden tend a drawbridge. Dark secrets abound. The Snow sisters’ parents were both criminals. Their mother was a prostitute while their father, who trained them in his craft, was a cat burglar, as was Priscilla, who is their cousin. All three love to dress like unmasked cat burglars.

Stanley Teriaca
44 minutes ago, Mark Rand said: Do either PRIMUS or UNTIL appear or get mentioned in To Save The World? It's another world. Nobody mentions PRIMUS, UNTIL, VIPER, PSI, CoIL, IHA, or any other agent group. They don't exist...in the form and name the Champions Universe uses. ...that doesn't mean that analogs don't exist...you just have to name them yourselves. Any illegal group is probally taken care of by the Saviors, and this world probally didn't feel need for a law enforcement above the police (at least publicly...). The focus of the adventure is not combat, but to get home, and to do so, they have to play by soap opera rules to do so. Stanley Teriaca
Jojo Rodrigo: Jojo is the local female television reporter, and also an anime fan. She has no real dark secret (unless you actually count being an otaku). She has to remember that making a Jojo reference isn't a Jojo reference. Duke Bushido
On 6/27/2024 at 10:14 AM, Stanley Teriaca said: Why am I the only one contributing? Because I have been gone a while, Sir; that's why! Johnny Brimstone: his pregnant wife was killed in a yacht explosion. Even as it happened, he begged the universe to take him instead. The only one listening was Satan himself, who rewound time and swapped positions with Johnny and his wife so that she and their young daughter would live while Johnny was blown straight to Hell. He wouldnt stay there for long, though. He would serve Satan here in the same community, hobkobbing with the wealthy, ensuring that the Root of All Evil was still causing trouble and spreading plenty of ill will. Johnny had been a corporate lawyer in life, and a damned (no pun intended) good one. Probably the only one who could find a loophole in a deal with the devil. Three months after his death, his wife gave birth a beautiful half-Asian baby boy. Neither Johnny nor his wife are Asian. Her new husband wasn't, either. Yeah; her new husband. She had remarried just two weeks after the funeral. a year later, with his daughter shipped off to boarding school and the happy couple having run through the massive fortune Johnny had built during his lifetime.... Well, even though no one would ever recognize or believe that he was the man he used to be, he had to do something about his daughter. He exercised the loophole that let him escape his contract if he swapped souls- got some other poor fool to take his place in Hell. If there was one thing he had learned, it was that angels were gullible as Hell. Probably that lack of free will. Satan was so impressed with the switch that he disnt even get angry. He just laughed and laughed and laughed. He even let Johnny keep the few infernal powers he had been given to serve Satan as an agent of Discord. Johnny now makes a remarkable living as a private investigator, investment advisor, and legal counsel (no courtrooms) for the less-than-exemplary citizens of the community, but only the obes with deep pockets. Certainly he isn't above a little blackmail, either.,, powers: Johnny is nearly immortal and his health is always perfect. He has the ability to read minds, given a few minutes of conversation, and has just a bit of precognitition, which allows him to see a few hours into the future, except in the case of investments: he can see give years worth of results on any investment. It's a bit niche, but Satan wanted to be sure he always had what he needed to rub elbows with the right people and the means to sew discontent. Of late, though, he can't see as much of an investment's future or as frequently as he once could, though he still sees enough to stay comfortable. He can keep tabs on the exact locations (relative to him) of up to a dozen people after making brief eye contact with them. he has a perfect memory, he is level-headed, and his time in Hell has made him even colder in his personal dealings. He has the ability to pass through any barrier via any shadow cast upon it. He can move perfectly soundlessly in any environment (if he so desires) and has the ability to create and control fire on a small scale (relative to most supers, anyway; certainly something like a flamethrower is no problem, or a few ashcan fires, but it would take him some time to create a forest fire. He is also completely immune to the effects of fire. he takes his name from his ability to create impenetrable clouds of black smoke (they don't affect breathing, or anything other than vision, really), though they do stink of sulphur. Johhny's time in Hell has left him with something of an unshakeable chill. While he woyldnt draw attention to himself by wearing a coat year-round, he owns an unusually-large number of long-sleeved and turtle-necked shirts (all very stylish and very expensive) and anyone watching him change may wonder just why he wears _two_ undershirts with his button-down shirts. Plot points: He is funding his daughter's education posing as a distant cousin with no family and plenty of money. When she finishes school, he intends to hire her or othwrwise arrange for her to be financially maintained. Perhaps he figures out that he was the intended target of the boat explosion- his wife sabatoged the boar _almost_ exactly the way her lover described, but her error cost her her own life. Ironically, Johnny loved her enough to voluntarily trade places with her. The things he has learned about his wife since his death have filled him with contempt, but the fact is that he still has the tiniest of torches still burning for her. He is far too cynical and practical to ever entertain the notion that she is more than she is. Perhaps, now that they are nearly broke, his widow and her husband are planning to do in her aging but very wealthy father, and Johnny has gotten wind of it. Perhaps there is a demon soul hising on earth, and Johnny finds himself in the unique position of being asked to collect and return it "as a favor" for his 'old boss; the one who let him keep his unique abilities. Perhaps a band of angels has been dispatched to collect Johnny for "questioning' with regard to his little soul-swapping stunt. Johnny has found out who the father of his widow's son is. For some baffling reason (and he suspects either divine or infernal intervention), he currwnt husband just doesnt seem to notice that the boy obviously isnt his. What does Johnny do with this information, especially knowing that the man now with his wife helped her pkot to murder him? Does he use the information to break them up? Would he, knowing that the man is a murderer and that kids are particularly vulnerable? What _is_ in all those files hidden inside the brick wall of his office, accessible only with an incantation and the correct hand sign? I dont know if you can use it or not,but it looked like you needed a scuzzy type with a few hooks. Enjoy! Stanley Teriaca
