Gauntlet
How do you set Hero Designer to have characteristic maximums but receive no disadvantage points in Heroic 5th edition games?
LoneWolf
There is a check box down at the bottom of the characteristic page. If you check that it shows up as a 0 point disadvantage on the disadvantage page.
Gauntlet
Yea, but that is a 20 point limitation which is not valid for a heroic character. There is a way to set it automatic, where you do not get any points for it which is standard for most heroic games, especially for 5th edition. LoneWolf
Yes, check the box on the characteristic page and it adds it as a 0-point disadvantage not as a 20 point. I suspect that it was done that so that it did not require writing duplicate code. Seem easier to simply override the value of the disadvantage than to write a complete separate function that does the same thing. If you create a Superheroic character it will put the value at 20, but if you choose Heroic, it sets the value to 0. You need to be selecting the appropriate character type. HeroGM
could you be thinking about the area in the Campaign Rules about NCM?

No, in my system it keeps giving a 20 point disadvantage for having characteristic maximums, not a 0 point Disadvantage. 5 hours ago, HeroGM said: could you be thinking about the area in the Campaign Rules about NCM? No, it has nothing to do with the settings tab.
unclevlad
I just checked. a) open my test-bed copy of HD...no changes to anything b) File -> New Character -> Fifth Edition Rules -> Heroic. c) go to Characteristics tab, click button on Normal Characteristic Maxima, leave it at No Age Restriction. 0 points. If that's what you did, and it's still showing 20 points...perhaps there's a setting we're missing. Maybe you didn't follow those steps? I've mucked up sometimes by just building a new character using the current template...when that template wasn't, in fact, the intended. User error's far more likely, tho...and any time my code *seems* to be misbehaving? It's a good idea to just go through a strict set of steps to eliminate user error as the problem. If you're still seeing it? I'd suggest downloading a fresh copy of the latest code, and create a new folder...mine's Testbed HD. Then repeat the steps above.
