Lord Fyre
Is there a "template" to get Hero Designer to print to a standard 8.5" x 11" paper? (This would be for both 5th and 6th editions.)
Gauntlet
Width yes, height no. I have been in the process of creating one that puts the character sheet in Excel format which works much better than Word for character sheets. Problem is my knowledge of JavaScript is a bit small, kinda learning as I am doing. Lord Fyre
HeroGM
I was trying some using paged.js, there wasn't any interest in it though so stopped bothering.
Gauntlet
I definitely thing that Excel would be the best way to go, as you can definitely tell where your cutoff points are and utilize that in your code, something you can't do in Word. Just need to get the JavaScript to utilize a specific Excel template, rather than the generic one.

Paged.js is an html javascript that chunks everything down into the size you want it, with margins so it can be printed out.
Gauntlet
You do realize that you sending this out means that I will bug the F&^% out of you? 🙃 Lord Fyre
HeroGM
I don't mind helping where I can and can send you some of the stuff I have. The biggest issues I had was getting things like Grid to work on the pages, since the pages themselves are grid, my understanding of JavaScript is minimal at best. Trying to go to the author(s) wasn't a help either since it's forum based and not to a single person.
Gauntlet
What I am trying to check out is whether or not JavaScript will allow you to put items into specific cells in an existing Excel Template.
Chris Goodwin
Why not create a .csv file as your export template, and then fill the values in your Excel spreadsheet from that? Gauntlet
Gauntlet
That actually is what I am looking to do. But I still need to learn JavaScript better to be able to pull it off. Right now I am creating the .csv file. Well actually creating an excel file and then saving it as a .csv file. I have the issue of having to learn by doing. I can read an instruction manual 1000 times and still have no idea, but by doing I learn rather quickly. I guess it just what an ADHD Boy needs to do.
