Andromeda is an energy wielder who's original orgin was based on another PCs way of getting radiation accidents. He was playing a Hercules clone that had been depowered by Zues to learn humilty and would occasionally get some of his power back delivered via lightning bolt. So what happens if Zues rolls an 18 and hits someone else? Calico was originally a supervillian in one of my old campaigns and when another campaign was started I was lacking in ideas for a PC, so I thought, "What if a agency created a superhuman and had it infiltrate a villian agency?" So she had worked undercover for several years feeding back info and since the villian agency was destroyed, she got reassigned as liason to a hero group. Your villainous agencies have summer picnics? If word gets out all the bad-guys will be flocking to SWORD! Something must be done about this. I as wondering what would be a good program for editing these templates to make good superhero pics. Keep in mind, I can't afford $600 for things like Photoshop pro. The GIMP (the site seems to be down right now) is free for the downloading and can be had for the PC platform as well as Unix/Linux (the website claims that the PC version is more unstable than the author would like, but it's never crashed on my Windows box, unlike MS Photodraw). The learning curve can be a little rough, but it's simpler to learn than Photoshop, easily as powerful if not more so, and isn't crippleware without a Mac. Free documentation and tutorials are available online. I recommend Grokking the GIMP, which is browsable online, downloadable, and available in hardcopy (gotta pay for that last one). There are also many plugins. Being that it's free, it doesn't hurt to go check it out. I've been using it on Linux for quite some time now and prefer it over pretty much anything else. A scaled down version of Photoshop for $99.00 approximately. I haven't really found anything that I couldn't do with it. As far as what I wanted to get that is. I've never used Adobe Photo Deluxe, but as I understand it, the program occupies the same niche as MS Photodraw, tweaking scans and adding frames, text, and such, optimized for photo-type images. The GIMP is rather a full-featured graphics program, covering the gamut from tweaking individual pixels to messing with layers and channels. Better? That's a hard call without knowing what you consider better. The GIMP is significantly more powerful than anything I've ever used but Adobe Photoshop, and it might be more powerful than Photoshop. That's better by my standards. It's also free, free as in beer and free as in speech. That's also better by my standards. It's not easy to use. That doesn't make any difference to me, since i'm one those freaks that get a dopamine rush from problem-solving. But most people want an application that will perform the simple operations that they need with a minimum of fuss and no learning curve issues. Those people will never like the GIMP, because they are not the target audience. Try downloading the program and reading the first chapter or two of Grokking the GIMP. The only thing you'll lose is a little time. Since you've already got Photo Deluxe, do the same thing. See if it does everything you need with a minimum of fuss. After you've tried both, decide for yourself which is better. He is a cross between Puma Man and Arthur from the Tick, He should have moth wings but Hero machine's moth wings are too fairy like for the character, he has hawk moth wings which look much more like hawk wings. ::edit:: Can't get the antennae right, just did a quick mockup in Photoshop. Logan D Posted February 28, 2003 Report Share Posted February 28, 2003 A bit of an anime touch Here's my character Lora Doubet, a cyborg brick/martial artist. I first created her in 1992 for my first ever Champions game. She's actually gone through a couple of revisions since then and been played in a couple of different campaings with slightly altered backgrounds. Currently, she's been adapted to a more cyberpunk theme than superhero and is being played in Michael Surbrook's Kazei 5 PBEM. These pictures are of her as an UNTIL special agent. Her uniform is a variation on the UNTIL dress blues as imagined in the campaign world. With some input from Rob Hudson on design, I came up with a uniform inspired in part by the AMP Uniforms from Silent Mobius and something I had seen from Masamune Shirow.
