Longest Running Thread EVER

Recommended Posts

:jawdrop:

Blundered across a FORTRAN subroutine published 1965, for computing values of elliptic integrals.  About 40 lines of code.  Arithmetic IF statements (7 or 8 of them).  GOTO statements (8 or 9 of those).  A DIMENSION statement (two three-element floating-point arrays).  No indentation (aside from the 6 columns required by FORTRAN): it's all left-justified.  And NO FREAKIN' COMMENTS!!!

None this limp-wristed latter-day pointer nonsense.

EDIT: I have printed the two pages (out of an image PDF) and tacked those up on my door, with the heading "Eldritch Horrors from Before the Beginning of (UNIX) Time".

The pair of graphs in the Funny Pictures thread has me thinking back, trying to remember if I have ever used a pie chart, ever, for anything, since high school.  I use bar graphs for histograms all the time, but I don't think I use them in any other way.  Pie charts, though ... never, and I think it's because there's no good way to show uncertainties in that format.

HA!!  Those mindless illegitimate nematode droppings which are IT here STILL have the print queue stopped, BUT they left an overlooked opening in their Great Wall of Moronitude.  You CAN plug a thumb drive into a printer and print from that.

Once I realized (and succeeded with) that, I burst into song.  To the tune of "Clementine",

Quote

Stupid f***heads,

Stupid f***heads,

Stupid f***heads,

Clementine,

Our I.T. are stupid f***heads,

Stupid f***heads,

Clementine.
