Dr. Anomaly
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER So I guess "Half Life" is only 2-points?! Nope. "Half Life" is (ln2/l) points. lemming

Dr. Anomaly
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER (obscure HERO ref I don't get) It's not a HERO reference; the natural log (ln) of 2 is used in calculating the half life of a substance that diminishes or decays over time. I always had the (bad) joke, I'd be like a radiologist and get a half-life. Bad, yes I know, but hay I made it up more than a decade ago, humour was simple then. Dr. Anomaly
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER What brand? and do you like it? Based on this, I'm thinking the answer is probably 'yes': It is like going from a black and white TV to color.

zornwil
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I have a Samsung flat screen as well, I'm not sure if it's 15" or 17", it's not 19" anyway. Seems to be fine, it's certainly better than the way more expensive but older monitor I have at work.
AliceTheOwl
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I made sure they got him a nicer monitor than the one at my work. I e-mailed the links, and the family bought 'em. Because my family expresses affection by buying stuff, and I'm just fine with that.
Edsel
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I am currently using a 20" diagonal flat screen. It is a wide screen though so its dimensions are actually 17" wide by 11" tall. It is pretty handy when I want to watch a widescreen format DVD. It is also really nice that nothing is ever really too wide for it. One of the drawbacks is that it is currently set at 1680x1050 pixels. This makes it really hard to find good wallpaper. Look for wallpaper for the iMac's since they use the same resolution on their 20" versions. Try here and here.

archermoo
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Samsung. And yes. My only problem with LCD monitors is that they don't sell any that are as high-resolution as I would like. I've got a Dell 20" that runs 1600x1200 as a secondary/gaming monitor, but that just isn't enough. My primary is a 21" CRT that I run at 2048x1536.
