death tribble
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I have Revenge of the Sith on the 2 DVD set and have watched it so now have Bai Ling's missing scene. Thus you see the beginnings of the rebel alliance that turns up in Star Wars. I'm more sorry that Jimmy Smits performance got snipped. I am now watching classic good vs evil. I am of course talking about Wacky Races.

AliceTheOwl
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Here, have some song lyrics: Gravity is a factor Feel it pulling you in It gets under your skin And you just sink in When the past is an anchor It's just holding you back When you can't walk away Something makes you stay, makes you stay What makes you turn around and do it all again Your highs and lows, they are both one and the same There is no difference in your pleasure and your pain It's time to face the music You can see what you can be Let go of what you have been See the world Through a different set of eyes If you can face the future It sets you free from the past Turn around, turn around You can move on, move on What makes you turn around and do it all again Your highs and lows, they are both one and the same There is no difference in your pleasure and your pain It's time to face the music "Face the Music" from album "Extraordinary Ways"
AliceTheOwl
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER More lyrics, this one an expansion on my sig. It makes me think of Josh: What I have is nothing to my name No property to speak of And no trophy for my game Intangible and worthless My assets on the page My coffers are empty Any offer of safety has faded away But what I have What I have is On an ordinary day The extraordinary way You take what I can give and you treasure it On an ordinary day The extraordinary way You turn to me and say, I believe in this That makes me lucky God, I'm lucky, so much luckier than I ever thought I'd be 'Cause what I have (what I have) Means so very little to this world A promise that I kept and a bridge that I saved before it burned The sacrifice that I made Brought me to my knees A choice that cost me everything and set somebody else free But what I have Is the value that you see in these things On an ordinary day The extraordinary way You take what I can give and you treasure it On an ordinary day The extraordinary way You turn to me and say, I believe in this That makes me lucky God I'm lucky, so much luckier than I ever thought I'd be 'Cause what I have Is the value that you see in these things And everytime I forget those things you bring them right back to me With your patience When I'm blinding mad And your passion When I'm really, really bad And your eyes Taking in everything I am And your body and soul and the way that you know How I treasure you On an ordinary day The extraordinary way You take what I can give and you treasure it On an ordinary day The extraordinary way You turn to me and say, I believe in this That makes me lucky God I'm so lucky So much luckier than I ever thought I'd be On an ordinary day The extraordinary way You take what I can give and you treasure it On an ordinary day The extraordinary way You turn to me and say, I believe in this "Extraordinary Way" from "Extraordinary Ways"
AliceTheOwl
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER And the one Josh really likes: It's all coming, it's all coming It's all coming, it's all coming, it's all coming, it's all coming It's all coming back to me now That strange and almost endless dream Where I was you and you were me You opened up your eyes and I could see That you were falling from the world As aimless as a shooting star In all that around me thinking I was somebody else And terrified to look at me and See yourself, well... You and I could dream And I am just a trip you are on When the trip is over You will go back to the places that you once belonged You will look for comfort there And when you do you'll find that it has gone That is when you'll dream a dream Where I am you and you are me And then you'll know my love So don't be afraid Your heart is in me and it's racing so fast now 'Cause everything we ever were or ever will be Is shapeless as a changing cloud Your letter written on the sky I need you now to read it through my eyes When you see just what I see And tenderly Watch it change and just let it be 'Cause I am like a dream And you are just a trip that I am on When the trip is over I will go back to the places that I once belonged And I will look for comfort there And when I do I know it will be gone That is when I'll dream a dream Where I am you and you are me And then I'll know your love So quiet... Now... We are the ... same This is just some trip that we are on When the trip is over we will think of this As someplace that we once belonged When I find no comfort here I'll look again to find it in your arms That is where I'll dream a dream Where I am you and you are me And that's where I know love "Endless Dream" from "Extraordinary Ways"

RPMiller
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER This is going to be very rough but here it goes: Ich träum' ich treff' dich ganz tief unten der tiefste Punkt der Erde, Marianengraben, Meeresgrund Zwischen Nanga Parbat, K 2 und Everest, das Dach der Welt dort geb' ich dir ein Fest wo nichts mehr mir die Sicht verstellt Wenn du kommst, seh' ich dich kommen schon vom Rand der Welt Es gibt nichts Interessantes hier Die Ruinen von Atlantis nur aber keine Spur von dir Ich glaub' du kommst nicht mehr I dream that I rendezvous with you under the deepest point of the Earth, Marianengraben (Don't know), Meeresgrund (don't know) among Nanga Parbat (don't know), K2 and Everest, the roof of the world is there I give to you a festival where I see nothing more but you (?) when you come I see you coming already from the edge of the world there is nothing else interesting here the ruins of Atlantis only but not in the slightest of you (?) I have faith that you will come no more Man, my German is uber rusty... If you want me to continue let me know, otherwise I'm sure there is a better translation somewhere. AliceTheOwl
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I could try babelfish. Actually, I'm impressed. I don't remember that much of ANY of the language courses I've taken to translate a block of song lyric. Well, unless it's really repetitive and kindergarten-level vocabulary. Then I might stumble through a verse or 2 of a French song.
archermoo
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Heh. I took four years of German. But that was 1st year German four times. Took it in elementary school, but then we moved to a school district that didn't offer it until Jr. High. Took it there, but then we moved to a school district that didn't offer it until High School. Took it there, but then we moved to a school district that didn't offer it at all. Took it at OU, but then my schedule was too full of other stuff to keep after it. RPMiller
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I took 4 years of German in high schrool and then another semester a year and a half ago for my degree requirements. That is probably the only reason I could do that much, and I'm still not positive about some of it. What makes it even harder is that it is song lyrics. I didn't quite recognize a couple words at first because of the apostrophes, and the grammar is "proper" grammar so I had to deduce a bit as well. Maybe the lyrics are translated some where... AliceTheOwl
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER And then there's my dad, who randomly started speaking German at me one day, YEARS ago. I just stared at him, so amazed that he could speak it so fluently (20-something years after college) that I forgot to ask what he'd just said. I believe he was quoting a classical composer. That man's brain works SO oddly . . .
RPMiller
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER FOUND IT!! Stella Maris I dream I'll meet you deep deep down The deepest point on Earth, Mariana Trench, ocean bottom Between Nanga Parbat, K 2 and Everest, The crest of the world, there you'll be my banquet guest Where nothing more can impede my vision When you com I'll see you coming from the world's margin Here there's nothing of interest The ruins of Atlantis just But of you not a trace I don't think you're coming anymore We missed each other in our dreams You dream me, I you Don't worry, I won't wake you Before you wake up yourself Across the ice towards the North Pole is where I'll expect you Will be standing on the axis >From Tierra del Fuego in hard dream labour to the pole There everything will revolve just around us The Pole Star directly above me This is the pole I'll wait here Only I cannot see you cmoing from anywhere for miles around I'm waiting at the wrong pole We missed each other in our dreams You dream me, I you Don't worry, I won't wake you Before you wake up yourself Please, please don't wake me Only as long as I dream do you exist... Enlist in slumber on a ship Course: Eldorado, Punt, that's your home Wait on the coast, look on the horizon Until I at last see your sails there But the captain is always drunk And mostly down below deck I can't steer this ship in my wildest dreams On a riff it springs a leek In the North Sea it then sunk An iceberg drives me back I think I'll be waiting for long Punt stays undiscovered We missed each other in our dreams You dream me, I you Don't worry, I won't wake you Before you wake up yourself You dream me, I you Don't worry, I'll find you Before you wake up yourself Collared in a doze I'll grab you And pull you towards me For you dream me, I you I dream you, you me We dream each other awake ghost-angel

ghost-angel
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I meant to post the translation but got distracted by something and forgot My last name is Germanic in origin. We're both very big fans of that group, she'd not heard that song by them. They're known mostly for their heavy industrial type sounds (one concert involved a 747 engine on stage). The song is soft, very much a love song. She was immediately taken with it, after she asked me if any particular songs would be good for wedding music this is what I came up with. no.. I don't actually speak German. Though given the amount of music I have in the language I should learn it.

Yeah, I love this song. When I heard it, I didn't know that EN was doing non-industrial stuff, so it was, in a way, jarring! Very cool song.
