It includes both radiation and the possibility of particles, if the local energy density is high enough.

OK, to be clearer: Hawking radiation includes both black-body radiation (which is electromagnetic) and particle emission. For the last to happen, you need the local energy density to be higher than the rest mass energy of the particle(s) to be emitted. In the Hawking black hole radiation, that happens when the curvature of space-time near the event horizon is sharp, which happens for low-mass black holes.

Heh. My brother at one point got a chance to see up close an F-117 stealth fighter. He also got a chance to take a picture of it. Oddly enough rather than being black the plane showed up the colour of undeveloped film. :)
