Motto: Be sure and cancel your credit cards before you die......... My Aunt died this past January. CitiBank billed her for February and March for their monthly service charge on her credit card, and then added late fees and interest on the monthly charge...the balance had been 0.00. now it was somewhere around $60.00 I placed the following phone call to CitiBank: Me: "I am calling to tell you that she died in January." CitiBank: "The account was never closed and the late fees and charges still apply." CitiBank: "The account was never closed and the late fees and charges still apply." Me: "Maybe, you should turn it over to collections" CitiBank: "Since it is 2 months past due, it already has been." Me: "So, what will they do when they find out she is dead?" CitiBank: "Either report her account to the frauds division, or report her to the credit bureau maybe both!" Me: "Do you think God will be mad at her?" CitiBank:"...excuse me .?" Me: "Did you just get what I was telling you.. the part about her being dead?" CitiBank: "Sir, you'll have to speak to my supervisor!" (Supervisor gets on the phone) Me: ''I'm calling to tell you, she died in January." CitiBank: "The account was never closed and the late fees and charges still apply." Me: "You mean you want to collect from her estate?" CitiBank: ".....(stammer)" .... "Are you her lawyer?" Me: "No, I'm her great nephew." (Lawyer info given... ) CitiBank: "Could you fax us a certificate of death?" Me: "Sure." ( Fax number is given ) ( After they get the fax. ) CitiBank: "Our system just isn't setup for death" Me: "Oh..." CitiBank: "I don't know what more I can do to help..." Me: "Well... if you figure it out, great! If not, you could just keep billing her...I suppose...don't really think she will care..." CitiBank: "Well...the late fees and charges do still apply." Me: "'Would you like her new billing address?" CitiBank: "That might help." Me: " ( Odessa Memorial Cemetery #### Hwy 129 and plot number given.) CitiBank: "Sir, that's a cemetery!" Old Man
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER There was a recent story about cell phone companies charging dead people as well. It was part of the recent cell-companies-have-the-worst-service news report... I'll have to see if I can dig it up.
Kara Zor-El
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER On the question of whether Bush okayed torture, I have just eight words for you: "I'm George Bush and I approved this ad." Of course, Kerry has okayed torture, too. The real question is "Did Cheney approve torture?"... I think Bush is just a robot. Or maybe a hologram, like in DK2. Bush is a figurehead. Cheney is Lex Luthor.
Enforcer84
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Hey Enforcer, How was your vacation? What did you do? Do you miss vacation land? I was in Cabo for a week, I returned to work Thurday. I sure miss vacation land T. Actually, I sat home and cleaned. House. My wife's baby sister was having her first baby. A cute little girl was born and my wife and her parents rushed to Longview and I stayed home and cleaned and played on my playstation. Cabo? Not by a longshot but just being away from the whining ninnies I work with was enough for me! LOL I adore Vacation Land. We're heading to Montanna to see my folks in September and London for my step-sister's wedding in March. So my vacation was merely a warmup! Of course, considering my love of a certain activity, I'm not sure Karaing a thread is something that should be done here. There are people under 18 that frequent the boards, ya know. I like verbing. And some verbs have several meanings. I just listed the rated "G" meaning!

Enforcer84
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Do tell? It's been fine up until today and tonight when ever I access the politics page Netscape shuts down. First time I got fifty error messages, the second time it simply told me it was closing and the third time it just disappeared. I think it has something to do with not accepting CNN.com's popups. I openned it with IE just fine.
