The cranky thread

I hate having to use Steam to be able to play games, particularly ones that I paid for the DVD version. Tonight Steam crashed, and apparently it is on their end. So now I cannot even play the games I own the disks for. I worked a long day, and was looking forward to a little relaxation. Thanks a lot, Steam.

Their program seems to crash out frequently, the "syncing" mode will often keep me from using any of the games run through it for a very annoying period, and now this.

I could really start to hate them.

Cho died tonight, at just a hair over 14 and a half years old.

I took her up to the vet for cremation just a moment ago. I asked the vet what the date was when I first brought her up there for emergency treatment. Turns out it was exactly 2 years ago tonight, and very close on the clock.

I guess she was trying to tell me that it was just her time.

Nah, what am I saying, she was a lizard.

AN AWESOME LIZARD!

I'm sorry for your loss. One reason I don't have any pets is because of those losses in the past.

Here's to Poncho, best Blue Heeler ever. Here's to Chippy, a sheep dog who performed better without training than many dogs with it. Point. "Bring me that one." And he would. Here's to Fluff, if he hadn't gone insane,* he would have had many more years of guarding the pasture and flock that he loved.

*He started killing my grandfather's cattle. We had to put him down.

Was Fluff a dog? Killing...cows?

My blanket decree forbidding death applies to pets too. I'm very cross. And sad.

Yes. Great Pyrenees sheep dog. He was a few years old and full grown (100+ pounds). They have been selected for their natural protective instinct that allows them to guard any flock/herd animal. That he was killing calves meant something was very wrong with him. He couldn't be trusted around people after that either. There might have been suspicions of rabies.

I actually LOLed at this.  My moment was a few years back when I heard an easy listening version of Enter Sandman in an elevator.

We have a senior appreciation day each week at the casino, and the ambient music mix generally changes to match the 50+ target demographic. That used to mean a mix of 50s, 60s, and 70s music, but I've noticed that it's now starting to skew into early 80s music. The other day, I caught a Madonna tune in the mix.
