Cancer 5,808 Report post Posted June 7 OK, I'm back in. My presence here is going to spottier than usual for a time. It seems clear I am dealing with at least one compromised system. I got one of those d**ned extortion emails which quoted my password on these forums, so I changed my password here; does that trigger an automatic lockout? As soon as the quarter is over so I have time, I'll be investigating where the bad box is, though there's a significant chance (to my mind) that our entire university system is all but entirely controlled by hostile individuals. CrosshairCollie 513 Report post Posted June 15 My friend Jeff's cat Halley died a couple of days ago. Now, to be fair, she had a hell of a run ... she was over twenty, which is roughly the human equivalence of being over a hundred years old. She was an old farm cat, friendly and affectionate though. We'd been watching her health deteriorate for a while, but she was holding up very well all things considered. I don't think she was on death's door so much as Death was at her door, and she was telling him to f*** off. She died peacefully and, near as anybody could tell, painlessly. Jeff's buried her in his yard, planted a shrub there, and put a little cat statue on it. I'm probably gonna take a few minutes to cry at it next time I visit. Cancer 5,808 Report post Posted June 16 I've had to bury a couple of 20+-year-old cats (and a larger number of less old ones), and it is never easy. My condolences to his surviving family and friends.
