Jhamin
Re: Resistance is Futile... Hmmm. A few points. On the stats: 1) Are borg really that strong? I mean I know they aren't wimps, but even with their cyberarms they seem to still be within the reach of really strong humans 2) With the entire collective to draw on, the will of the borg we have seen thus far have been pretty unshakable. I might buy up the Ego or give them mental defence linked to the hive mind. On the Powers: 1) they really need some kind of senory power to reflect their ability to instantly know everything about what they assimilate. Maybe telepathy? 2) We have seen Borg walk around unprotected on the outside of the Enterprise. They really should probably have alot of life support. 3) I don't know that thier adaptive defences are really vulnerable to physical attacks. The first hit or two from any weapon works normally and I don't know that we have seen bullets used for more than that. I don't think we have ever seen a reason to believe the Borg could not adapt to bullets as well as phasers. 4) I'd add some power defence to their Force Field. It is implied that they can adapt to avoid alot of weird attacks and phenomina. 5) The relentlessness of the Borg is legendary. Buy 0 End on their Strength and Movement. On the limits: 1) Slow, max speed two - I generally look funny at a limit that says I can't buy up something higher than I have already bought it. Just because your concept doesn't allow it doesn't mean it's worth points. 2) I might give them a psy-limit reflecting their utter, suicidal fearlessness, to the point of slowly walking up to an enemy that just phasered the guy next to them. 3) Borg are universally feared and often killed on sight by all intelligent species that have the ablility to do so. I would probably give them a hunted or at least a reputation.
tancred
Re: Resistance is Futile... Looks good to me. One (very) minor quibble: I'm not sure about the Limited Target (-1/4) for Assimilation. In Star Trek: New Frontiers (volume VI, I think), the Borg assimilated a tribble. (REALLY funny story, BTW.) Also, one of the novels (Vendetta, maybe?) had IIRC the Borg assimilating dogs. IF you consider those canon, maybe the limited target is corporeal beings, or some such broad category. MorpheousXO
Re: Resistance is Futile... Though the Borg don't assimilate everything, an episode of voyager 7 of 9 mentions the Borg thought the Kazon were unworthy of assimilation, and thus were only to be destroyed (or something like that... many years since I saw the episode). I'm not exactly sure why the borg would assimilate a tribble though... Anyways, that's my input... oh yeah, looks good.
Michael Hopcroft
Re: Resistance is Futile... RESISTANCE IS USELESS..... What about a Vogon Guard for Hero (oh, for a conveniently nearby Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal!).

Clonus
Re: Resistance is Futile... The intelligence is too high. Borg Drones are dumb as well as slow, presumably because their brains have little computing capacity left after contributing most of it to the Collective. Also they probably could adapt to bullets. palaskar
Re: Resistance is Futile... Actually, Borg do seem to be vulnerble to physical attacks. Remember when Species 8472 (IIRC) cut them into pieces of limbs?

palaskar
Re: Resistance is Futile... Hand-to-hand combat with skilled fighters and fairly large edged weapons. Death Stars. Things that make a star go supernova. Severing the subspace neural link to the collective via subspace fluctations. Using the "spatial rift" teleporting tech in ST:tNG to shift in photon torpedos. Setting off an Omega bomb. Forming a treaty with Species 8472, and gating them to our galaxy. Black holes. Hitting cubes with neutronium, causing the cube to be crushed under the gravity. Frying a Borg queen's brain with tachyon radiation, frying all the queen's minds at once though time and space. (Not sure if this one will work, though.) Tricking the Borg into attacking Orgainia, and having the Orgainians "teach them a lesson" like they did with the Federation and the Klingons. Setting a "planet eater"" on them, like in "ST:Vendetta." Have the Dominion and their Founders deal with them. I doubt the Founders can be assimilated, given their shapshifting and ability to use subspace. That's al I can think of off the top of my head. starblaze
Re: Resistance is Futile... That was actually a very good ST novel. The planet eater was the original finished product of the "Doomsday Weapon" from the Star Trek TOS episode of the same name. Apparently the first planet eater ship was a prototype and the one is the novel was the finished product. The ship was discovered by an immortal alien who had twice suffered losses due to the Borg. The name of the novel was Vendetta.
