Don't have it yet

The lucky bastards that I call friends, just went to Gencon. While they were there the picked me up copies of the UNTIL Superpowers Database (because I am an intrinsically lazy person), and Dark Champions (because I really loved the last edition of it). Can someone let me know what vigilantes and villains are detailed within DC (especially brand new ones)? Please?????

Re: Don't have it yet

Pulling out my Gen Con copy...

The table of contents lists the following NPCs. The first group is a "PC" group, Libra; the other are villains.

Sarge

Blade

Hammer

Knockout

Shadow

Abaddon

Caliber

Crossbow

Fenris

Triggerhappy

I'm 150 or so pages in and the book looks very good so far.

Re: Don't have it yet

Zen Hydra, Dark Champions is a genre book... not a setting book. It's the guide for playing in any modern action game... not one in a particular setting. So it just has example characters. I'd expect The Harbinger to show up in the main Dark Champions setting book: Hudson City: The Urban Abyss. :)

No Harbinger of Justice that I can find (either in the ToC or Index, which does list other NPCs). I believe Mr. Long told me at the con that including Harbinger's current character sheet would have put the book too far over its page count*. :)

In the original DC (which was essentially a genre book) the Harbinger was included as an example of a very powerful (point-wise) street-level character, and he was pretty much the iconic Dark Champions vigilante.

Yes, I'm aware of that. However, under DoJ, Hero Games has been mcuh clearer about the dividing line between genre books and setting books. The fact that Harbinger wasn't in Dark Champions doesn't mean he won't show up, I'm sure. :)

Re: Don't have it yet

HoJ on the cover but not inside. Isnt' that worthy of some kind of false advertising class-action suit that can keep me in cheetohs and porn at least through the end of the week?

If you are asking me, the answer would be no, although I do find it a little annoying, even with Derek's quite reasonable explanation.

However, giving it a little thought, HOJo does belong in the setting book, and if he showed up both places, someone would have a legitimate gripe about "reprinting the same material in two different books".

Re: Don't have it yet

Well, I look at it this way: Let's say DC comics put out an RPG and slapped a picture of superman on the cover. Then when you discover that there are no stats for him inside because the iconic characters are being saved for another book. I wouldn't expect them to leave him off the cover as he's a serious selling point for the system.

Now the HoJ may not be as iconic, but he is the bad seed from which the darkness grew. I think it's fine. Especially if he's ALSO on the Hudson City book. Then he's representative of the "dark champions line" of books.

I just wanted to tease someone was all.

But I'll accept whatever you say, KA. You're the one named after an offensive manuever for which I have no resistant defense.

But! But! I only use my powers for good!

Well, good as I see it . . .

And I would never use them to intimidate someone into listening to my opinion!

Unless I really believed in my opinion, and they weren't listening to it, and it was something really important . . .

And my name is just based on my initials!

Of course my avatar is a menacing guy with a pair of .45's . . .

Your parents named you Killing Attack? That's so cool!

I'm thinking if I have a little girl she'll be Phase. As for a boy, I'm stuck between Gadgeteer and Knockback.

They could play with my twins, OCV and DCV.
