I would actually feel better about the ordeal if the machine caught on fire. It's either heat or memory failing. This sucks. And my wife has the patience of a saint while I take her laptop to help resolve the issue. Slow... spiraling... death... Mac or Windows? I'd been singing a lot of songs from Phantom and pondering making myself a mask when the pus fairy came and took away the swelling Tuesday, a full week after this started. Why, even after all these years, do I check the hardware last? Hmmm... probably because 9.5 times out of 10 it's the Software, but still. You would think that I would check Hardware before doing a complete wipe. I'm sure there are some important bits not backed-up. And I'll lost the weekend to reinstalling all my stuff. Early versions of 10.4 were pretty kickin' as well. 10.5 decided I needed to see an Opening Cutscene with "Welcome" is a bunch of languages. I managed to offend me before I even started to use it. I hate pretty. Just work. So far I've spent an hour removing OS Annoyances like sounds. Certainly not unique to Apple OS so I can't actually hold that against it. But I will.
