Musings on Random Musings

Re: Musings on Random Musings

I get jovial sometimes. Its hard to quantify.

My wife snapped her fingers and said: "King Julien XIII."

Me: "What?"

Wife: "Your happy energy - you're channeling King Julien XIII."

Me: "Who?"

Wife: "The Lemur King from Madagascar."

Me: "The conceited, fun-loving one who relies on charisma and delegation rather than ability and talent?!"

Wife: "The very one, honey."

Me: "My happy energy is conceit?"

Wife: "Let's just call it 'bigger than life,' shall we, snuggle-bunny?"

Sadly, she nailed me. When I have my jovial outbursts, which is more often these days, I am King Julien XIII.

Facepalm!

You like to move it, move it?

For want of a nail, the horseshoe was lost.

For want of a horseshoe, the horse was lost...

You all know this one. We heard it in school. It even appeared in some of the comic books I read. Kids nowadays, at least the ones I've asked, haven't even heard of it.

Kids today don't know Titanic was based on a real event, so this surprises me not at all.

Hey, I was happy to introduce my daughter to the historical importance of Verdun and Ypres and the Chemin des Dames and Vimy Ridge and the Argonne Wood for her French geography alphabet project. (île du Diable and Épinal and Metz and Sedan too ...)

Kids?! When the Italian Cruise ship sank last winter, our bastions in journalism Entertainment Tonight compared the disaster to...the Movie Titanic.

Including comparisons of the water temp for the passengers of the actual shipwreck to what the actors had to "endure."

(I suppose comparing to the movie makes sense for an entertainment program...right up until you ponder why an entertainment program is discussing a real life disaster at all.)
