Susano
Re: Hey Surbook: This is true.Evidently whoever wrote up the D&D troll used the troll from that book as the template. I'm almost certain that would be Gary Gygax.

AlHazred
Re: Hey Surbook: In all fairness to Gary, he had to make some hard decisions. I've tried to put myself in his position when he and Dave Arneson made D&D, and it was a much more daunting and difficult task that it at first appears. Gygax had a lot of source material he was fond of, and had to pick and choose. Then he had to go over it again, to make sure he didn't infringe on any trademarks or whatnot. Then he had to figure out how to fit it into the framework of the "wargaming expansion" he'd worked on. The he had to put it in a game himself and see how it worked with his players. Then he had to tweak it again. All this with only the original source material, and no help from other people, no way to see how others would do it. I'm often impressed by the job that was done. Much more difficult than standing there after the fact and saying, "I'd do it this way!"
