Re: Jane's Superhumans

*finally gets home, reads his CKC*

A-yup. Lisa "Bluejay" Anderson spent years slaving on her project, working almost around-the-clock in anticipation of the large rewards awaiting her once UNTIL bought the finished battlesuit.

Then UNTIL cancelled the contract, and the company she was working for hired her -- and kept all of her work, as under the terms of employment, the intellectual property was all theirs.

Being a bit greedy by nature, she broke in to steal the prototype suit and all her plans so she could profit from them elsewhere. Problem is, in the process, the lab accidentally burned down, and a 'flying supervillainess' was spotted leaving the scene in a certain suit of light power armor.

After that, well, so much for her hopes of selling the thing and becoming a rich scientist...

Re: Jane's Superhumans

Has anyone thought of what supers would joing the porn industry?

My initial thoughts are someone with stretching (mouth, tongue, genitals), someone with extra limbs (genitals, even more breasts) and maybe even teleportation. (No need for those awkward scene changes without explanations). Hmm, maybe even shrinking or growth would come in handy? Anyone else?

Well, celebrities might have to trademark their features, because shapeshifters could make a fortune in the adult film industry. Especially if they also had duplication ("World's biggest celebrity gang bang").

yeah, it's not like there's any shady corporation abroad that would pay her her weight in diamonds for those designs ;)

Any female super with exotic looks or the ability to assume them could pretty much write her own ticket, I suspect. What would a porn studio (or a men's magazine) be willing to pay a *real* tiger-girl? And if she's a shapechanger, even more so. Men, not so much; women are mostly chosen for looks. Men are chosen mostly for the ability to get and stay hard.

Yes, the porn industry definitely pays the women a lot more than the men.

Though, like Megaplayboy mentioned with the duplication, I can just see a new porn theme "Hey baby, I want a threesome, but just with you." "Are those twins, or duplicates?"

Re: Jane's Superhumans

"Senator' date=' we can't label Copycat an Omega-level threat just because he made 'you' the star of 27 pornographic films after you denounced mutants on national television."[/quote']

Not to contradict you, but for clarification, isn't there a law about this already though? The reason I ask is because at the end of the credits of every movie, there is a statement that says something like "The names and places of everyone in this movie are ficticious. Any similarities are mere coincidence." Of course, I see this in movies based on true stories as well.

I didn't know if they did that because of a legal issue that had already happened, or if it was one to cover their butts in this age of litigation.

On a completely unrelated note, can ANYONE read the credits at the end of TV shows and movies (on TV) anymore? If you are going to squeeze the credits into a skinny parallelogram of Morse code, why even bother?

Bah.

Re: Jane's Superhumans

They'd probably claim First Amendment coverage of political satire. That or claim they were accurately portraying the Senator's positions :)

Depending on how cranky the Senator was about it and how wealthy the porn companies, this could go all the way to the Supreme Court, and you have your precedent-setting case regarding the legislation of superhuman abilities.

Well, the Senator could almost certainly sue over defamation, but as long as the movie had disclaimers that it wasn't actually the Senator, I seriously doubt any criminal charges could be filed.

I don't think breaking that kind of law is normally enough to get a villain listed as an Omega-level threat, though...

Re: Jane's Superhumans

What makes anyone belive that only non democratic countries would be run by supers? The first thing america will do with supers is make them celibrities. Celibrities with real powers, hell any country that would elect Regan and Arnold would make a real super thier king! Repeal the 2 term limit, go buying up all the supers from third world countries they can get there hands on tie them down to the republican party. and become an even bigger more beligerant super power than they already are....

A super like Invictus would be running the show in a generation.

Re: Jane's Superhumans

Supers probably would become celebrities ( probably even some of the villainous ones. Unfortunately, like in real life ). However, I doubt you are going to see supers running for the presidency anytime soon. Keep in mind, both Reagan and Schwarzenneggar were celebrities for a long time before following any political ambitions.

both Reagan and Schwarzenneggar were celebrities for a long time before following any political ambitions.

That's true of Sonny Bono, Fred Grandy, Jesse Ventura, and Fred Thompson, as well (depending on one's definition of "a long time" -- I am thinking "a decade or more"). And I do not think we have seen the last of Gary Coleman.

But I think it's a given, in most Champions settings, that supers are far less numerous than actors. I would not be surprised to see a few run for office, and perhaps even win, but I wouldn't expect it to be a trend.

Even so' date=' said supers are not going to be running before having years of time in the public eye. Hell, even Superman wasn't really in a position to run for at least a decade.[/quote']

Actually, without a Constitutional Amendment, Kal-el would be unable to run for President, since he wasn't born on Earth, let alone the United States. Plus, I don't know how old he is, but there's an age requirement, too.

Re: Jane's Superhumans

In a tongue in cheek campaign it can work the other way too, political figures can become supers.

After the assassination attempt in 1981, a secret cabal within the Republican National Committee resolved, rather than have the moderate George Bush (coiner of the term 'voodoo economics') become president should a future assassin succeed where Hinkley had failed, that they would break open The Vault of Alien and Suppressed Technologies to create a replica of the Gipper to take his place in such an eventuality. Cell samples were taken, and rushed to a secret lab in the Nevada desert. VAST knowledge was accessed, and a clone body was force-grown to adulthood. But not just a plain old clone body! That would leave the President vulnerable... so certian improvements were incorporated. The plotters then arranged to record President Reagan's engram, without his knowledge, for later imprintation onto the super replica body. Unfortunately, the only partially understood alien Engram Reader/Writer was not properly sheilded, and picked up not only President Reagan's engram, but also the hopes, aspirations, and feelings about the President present among nearby cabal members. Of course, President Reagan recovered from the assassination attempt, and went on to serve out both of the terms permitted to him under the constitution, so the copy was never needed for the purpose it was created for. But it was, in a way, Ronald Reagan, and it still loved America and wanted to do Good for her, So, rather than remaining locked away as the cabal's little secret, it went forth to make America a better place...And thus was born...RON PLUS!

He was conceived and grown in a Kryptonian gestation matrix, to which Jor-El attached stardrive. The matrix was launched to Earth, where Martha Kent opened it, and took out the infant Kal-El. This was the moment of his birth, and since it occurred on US soil, he's a US citizen by birth, and eligible for the Presidency if he meets the other qualifications.

Re: Jane's Superhumans

I think they retconned that away...

Thank the various gods for small favors. Next thing you know, Bruce Wayne's parents didn't actually die, but just got hurt kinda bad and had to spend some time in hospital.

Ra's Al-Gul: Alfred never told you about your father, did he?

Batman: My parents were killed by a mugger.

Ra's Al-Gul: No, Bruce: I am your father. I staged that tawdry scene to fuel your rage. Even then, I knew that only a painful trauma could galvanize you into fulfilling your true potential.

Batman: Does that mean... my mother...?

Ra's Al-Gul: Oh, she's really dead. The sow was going to leave me for a younger megalomaniacal would-be world-conquerer, and I simply couldn't permit that. No prenup, you see.

edit: I am assuming you mean that the silliness of Clark being born on Earth got retconned away. If not, then... bah. May as well make Superman a damnable mutant and get it over with.
