Cancer
Re: NGD Scenes from a Hat New Topic: What is the real problem with California' date=' and how do we fix it?[/quote'] Their tax structure has been completely messed up since they passed Prop 13 in 1978; the practical effect is that new people (who move there or simply reached adulthood after then and haven't had the sense to leave) pay more or less all the tax load for the old people. Solution: Tax rates for individuals over 50 years of age, and for corporations that existed before 1978 or assumed the assets of corporations that existed before 1978, have their tax burden multiplied by a factor of exp(age-32) (which works out to multiplying the taxes of a 65-year-old by a factor of 2.15e+14). That should take care of things.
