Are these measurements at any particular wavelength?

 

Used to be that AAVSO was nearly all people (who had had lots of practice) using their eyeball with "small" telescopes. Nowadays there are enough CCD cameras on telescopes that I think most of it is B or V band. Both are visible window, one "blue" (I think centered about 450 nm) and one "visual" (centered about 550 nm), each roughly 100 nm wide FWHM. These are intended to be on the old broadband Johnson photometric system, I think, though how well it syncs up with that isn't clear. CCDs have a rather different response function than photocathodes.
