Cancer
NASA's Kepler mission failed in May. ESA's COROT spacecraft had its computer fail last November, and about a week ago ESA announced it was retired and would be deorbited. There are now zero dedicated exoplanet-search space missions functioning, and probably four years before a new one can be flown.
tkdguy
Sad to hear about Kepler. But here's an article suggesting the universe may be full of life. Cancer
I saw this on The Miniatures Page: Mysterious deep-space explosions baffle scientists I was reading Nature and Science yesterday and saw that. Very odd. The very short duration of the bursts makes the task rather difficult.

Old Man
A trio of colorful articles for you: EU/Russian mission to the Red Planet Green alternative to today's rocket fuel? Blue gas giant That green fuel sounds great, although it'd be cooler if it would run in current engines. I wonder how hard it is to make.
