Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...

From winterhawk's 'A Game of Chance' campaign on Hero Central...

Gaze (team mentalist/MA) 'questioning' the cowardly villain who'd been controlling a lethal robot from a 'safe' location...

"You lay stripped bare of your illusion of supremacy, vulnerable, helpless..and yet, there is so much more I can take from you. Your mind, your knowledge of things technical, I can make you FEAR machinery as much as you fear the light, you cowardly wretch, you miserable quivering pile of refuse. I will ask this and you will answer, do not make me go into the pathetic pit of your mind and take it from you, and do not," He rears back his open palm ready to strike while holding up the 'Annhilator' with the other hand, " make me sully my hands on you. Where are the other members of the Shift? What are their plans? Answer, before I get upset and...get creative."

The responses in chat are almost as good:

winterhawk (friendly neighborhood GM)...

Aw, jeezus Rec...that Gaze post has *me* shaking in my boots

Think I'm going to make even Doc Atomic take a step back from you

Selyna (plays Lady Eldrich, our newly acquired mystic)...

well..remind me to never have gaze angry at me...I have decided she REALLY doesn't like mentalists.

Showing our whiteness :)

During a battle with Leroy, the Awesome Exoskeleton Man

Leroy: You cannot fool me, Plastron. I know that the word Plastron means Exoskeleton, and I will prove that you are wearing an exoskeleton to the entire world!

Plastron: Actually, it's also a dicky worn under a hauberk.

Leroy: You must be a WHITE man in an exoskeleton....

Actually, according to Wikipedia,"Plastron" can also mean:

* "Plastron" is also the name of a half-jacket used in the sport of fencing.

* "Plastron" is also the name of the bulge on an aircraft, such as the Airbus A340, under the fuselage between the wings that is used to correct airflow around the engine pylons.

* A "plastron" is also a thin permanent layer of air around the body of some aquatic insects, held in place by hydrophobic hairs, and acting as a physical gill.

And what on EARTH is a "dicky"? (Humor me,I'm a New Zealander).

And from Webster's Dictionary

plastron n. 1. a piece of plate armor for the upper part of the torso in front. 2. Fencing. a quilted pad worn over part of the torso, for protection. 3. an ornamental front piece of a woman's bodice. 4. the starched front of a shirt. 5. Zool. the ventral part of the shell of a turtle. [1500-10; < MF < It piastrone, aug. of piastra metal plate, PIASTER. See PLASTER]

Having stated all that, I don't see how any of this extra information adds, detracts, or qualifies the quote.

To me, the quote stands fine (and accurate) as-is. YMMV. (And I'm glad we have a quote on this page, seeing as where we're derailing!) Of course, I can just see Balabanto coming up with a quote involving Spotted Dick next. :snicker:

Quan Lin, 1,000 year old Chinese Dragon, interrogates a suspect. Afterwards, Team Leader Freedom's Price comes back into the room.

Suspect: "He tried to f$%^in' eat me!"

FP: *sighs* "Did you?"

QL: "If I had tried to eat her she would be eaten. Does she look eaten to you?"

(Although, personally, I prefer the title of the post where he made that response:

"No no no... well, maybe just a little...." )

And, on the same subject:

*thought by FP*: "A Chinese Dragon from before the days of civil rights should not be handling interrogations...."

Cheerleaders' date=' school marching bands, law-enforcement agencies, and other groups who need to identify by color buy lots of these.[/quote']

So does the US Air Force. At least, I seem to remember we stocked them in Supply.

Or maybe I'm just remembering that we had regulations about how to wear them. I think it was the Security Police who wore them actually.

In point of fact, I don't think I ever heard of "dickies" until I was in the Air Force.

Lucius Alexander

The palindromedary wonders "Okay, apart from the obviously re-dickey-lous name, what is it people have against these garments?" The palindromedary of coruse has a lot of neck to keep warm and is probably in favor of anything having to do with warm necks in general.

A gem of a line from one player in my group, who has just allowed his character to be captured despite the clear warnings from his danger sense in order that he can continue his investigation:

"I am unsure, sir, as to why you want me to get in the cage."

There's a highlander type character who's super overprotective of his detective descendant so much she fled to another country to hide out another immortal's protection ( both are PCs)

Saxon Blade " may I speak with my descendant?

Princess Linnea Solieri " you must promise not to harass her.

Saxon" I would never do such a thing!"

Linnea "Then it a promise already kept."

This goes on for about 15 minutes until he finally promises to not harass her after which she says

"She not here right now."

From last week's game... we are now preared to enter the "Orgy Room," as we've dubbed it... judging only from the loud noises coming through the doors.

Wendigo: "How embarrassing is this going to be if we charge in there and its just some guy watching porn on his surround sound?"

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...

Objx (whose power is to create any simple inanimate object apparently out of thin air) hands Flora a half pint of ice cream that she has summoned from nowhere.

Flora: Whats in this?

Objx: Er....molecules? *shrug*

-----------------------------

Dr. Infinity and Centurion both walk into the main conference room wearing bathrobes and fuzzy bunny slippers.

Ultragirl: ...Is this the new team uniform?

-----------------------------

Mel (Objx's Player) describing Objx plans for vacation: -I- am going to swim in the sea of irresponsibility, until I get all prune-ey :D

-----------------------------

Ultragirl was vat-grown and decanted about six months ago, and now looks a lot like Erica Durance from Smallville. She goes with her team to a Recreational Planet (the game is set in 2986). The next morning she comes into the hotel resteraunt and sits down with her friends.

Dark Star: So, what do you guys want to do today?

Ariel (whose people are pale and sunburn easily): Dont ask me. Its too bright out there.

Objx: Im sure we can think of something fun to do.

Ultragirl (a bit too loud because she doesnt know not to): Have you guys tried sex? I tried it last night and its AWESOME! :D

*Team spit take*

---------------------------

Objx (later, thinking she and Ultragirl are alone): You should try it with multiple people ;)

Dr. Infinity (team duplicator, who happened to be walking by, blurts): I can be multiple people...:hush:

At GenCon a few years ago I met a girl who immediately launched into what I'm guessing was her favourite gaming story: It involved Champions, extra prehensile limbs, a gymnast; and me making my excusing and getting the hell away from her... Americans can be so forward :D
