Quote of the Week from my gaming group...

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...

From the second session of our 'Rifters' Star Hero campaign (think Firefly-ish in tone):

***************************************

Yuriko: (suddenly) We have to take him out!

Slim: (paniced) What?!?! No, don't kill me! I'll do anything you want!!

Yuriko: (irritated) No, not you - the pirate leader.

Slim: Oh. (confidently) Right; we have to take him out.

***************************************

GM: Someone knocks on your door.

Blast: I pick up my rocket launcher.

***************************************

Stick: Slim, full burn as soon as we're docked and locked!

Slim: Full burn? Do you know how much that will cost?

Stick: Do you *want* to spend the rest of your life in an Imperial prison?

Slim: Right, full burn.

***************************************

Stick: (on the ship's intercom) Okay everyone, crew meeting. We're humped.

My character has been killed and the discussion about new characters and a six month jump resulted in this exchange between Jose Allan and me:

(JA) Could be worse: you could have died, come back, only to have been lobotomized by your team mate, AND THEN given a cold nanite enema.

(ME)Personal experience?

(JA) Uh, kind of, I was the one who did the Lobotomizing, sort of…

Overconfident demon: "You're going to tell me what you know, or I'll kill your friends here."

Kessa: *snort* "Good luck with that."

Later, as he's been whittled down to 1 BODY, Sophia says, "Who's going to kill WHO?"

Meanwhile, the events in one of the background stories I wrote (posted over in the Fantasy Hero section) came back to haunt Kessa. We notice we're being followed by raggedy little kids, who keep staring at Kessa.

Finally, she, sick of being followed, approaches them to ask what's going on. When she realizes that the simple act of defending herself from thieves has yielded a following, she groans. Rafe exclaims, "You have a fan club! So have they heard of you in any other places you've been to?"

Eventually, the urchins end up being helpful, so Sophia tells them a tale of their adventures. She emphasizes Kessa's role in the Underfoot Prince's Tournament adventure, while de-emphasizing the roles of the other party members, including herself. Kessa listens, too, keeping quiet. When she's done, Kessa says to Sophia, "That's an interesting interpretation of events."

Later, they're talking amongst themselves about the murders in Elweir, and the demon's declaration that Sophia was next. Sophia points out that Carmen slayed the demon. Kessa says, "Another interesting interpretation of events."

(I really have to get others to post their favorite lines, because I KNOW we've had a lot of really funny in-game moments.)

"No, no, no. We're not negotiating with the guy. We're not gonna give him what he wants, whether it's 1000 deer or the Santa costume from the Nar-Cola commercials. We're gonna do what heroes always do--we're gonna find the bad guy, beat th'bejesus outta him, and hand 'im over to the folks at Stronghold so they can let him escape in 6 months to do it again." Hornet, when an UNTIL Major suggested that perhaps negotiating with Foxbat was something they should consider :)

Doc A probably has too much self respect to post this one, so I will.

When Nadia my Teen champions Necromancer turn came around I said:

"I summon the Skeleton. . . in attack mode."

Go ahead, throw things, I have it coming :)

I can totally see having a PC (or NPC, whatever) with an MP based on summons in Attack or Defense mode. In fact, an NPC I fiddled with for a while, The Trainer, had a setup for certain powers that worked pretty much like that. He was a preteen with a disgustingly high full-on hardcore Summon to call forth the Demons from H-E-double-hockeysticks, and the mental constraints to make them into PokeDuelers. Nothing like trying to replicate the sound of a big ol' demon being squished into the shape of a ReptSkorch, evolved or not. :eg:

Heh.

I've made a villain (who I haven't had a chance to use yet) who has the ability to bring images to life, and since I have a sizeable collection of trading card game cards built up over the years, I have all the props I'll ever need.

"You guys call yourselves heroes? Let's see how you do against my heroes ... I summon ELEMENTAL HERO SPARKMAN in attack mode!" *card flourish*

That just goes to show that even if the GM has too much self-respect to do something (like post that), one of his players won't disappoint him. :)

(One of Nadia's attacks is a 6d6 Energy Blast vs. Physical, with the special effect of her summoning up a skeletal warrior who proceeds to whallop the designated target. I could not believe Nick said that as he picked up the dice to make his Magic skill check to activate the power... :hush: )

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...

I haven't had a chance to post any quotes lately, so they've sort of been piling up. Since as more than one person has noted, I don't really need the higher post count, I'm just going to post them all in one long post.

There will be a quiz later, so pay attention!

(Yup. Definitely been playing Teen Champions lately...)

-----

"Don't trust them!"

"Why? Just because they're dressed in black, all-concealing robes and have huge metal claws?"

-----

Dr. Trent: "Dear god! Tell me you are not seriously considering showing Jurassic Park to the thousands-of-years-old Sidhe shapeshifter! (sigh) Well, it could have been worse...you could have been considering showing her Aliens instead."

Lilly (the afore-mentioned shapeshifter): "What's 'Aliens'?"

Dr. Trent: "Me and my big mouth..."

-----

"No, there was no blood, not that we saw...so, unless it bleeds something we can't see -- on second thought, considering the things we run into these days, it just might."

-----

"Have you guys noticed a pattern lately? Here we are, in what amounts to Horror Central, and everything we run into wants to either kill us or have sex with us...and considering what we've run into so far, I'm not sure which is worse."

-----

"You did what to our representative? She'd embedded how deep in the floor of the stadium?!?"

-----

"I had a funny feeling they were going to pull a nymph on me."

-----

"Hang on, my pants are ringing."

-----

"I wasn't aware that tourism was a major industry in Heaven."

-----

"Mashed potatoes and alcohol...delicious!"

-----

"We're gonna need a plug-in because she's going to keep running out of batteries if she plays with it every night."

-----

"We need to give him a frog-ectomy."

-----

"What just happened in the girl's dorm?"

"It involved batteries and an electric guitar amp...it's best not to ask too many more questions."

-----

"Let's not scare the person who can blow up the Sun, okay?"

-----

"An ice cream sandwich crawled into the heat ducts and died."

You're not alone--I've had this idea to build the Deckmaster (a teen mystic Hero) who discovered his talents through...

(wait for it... )

...a deck of Magic cards. :ugly:

The sad thing is, it's possible if I don't stick exactly to the card's power; it's merely a OAF to project his power.

Love Children of the Marvel Universe.

an evil mentalist is tampering with various supers minds.

Hurricane Tana is a young air controller.

Meteorite is the energy projector from Thunderbolts.

Seven years ago they were on an adventure together and

they can't remember how it ended. They were stopping some

armored bank robbers and their memories get really fuzzy.

These symptoms match the cops from earlier LCotMU episodes. :(

Big Brother the team mentalist volunteers to help

them unlock their heads.

This is a real serious moment because 2 things are fresh in every players mind:

1. Zatanna, Batman, Dr.Light and all that junk from the DCU.

2. Prof.X in the X-Men movie telling Wolverine that "the mind

just isnt like baggage that you unpack."

:straight: So all the PCs & NPCs are gathered around, tensely and quietly watching

Big Brother try to ease the memories out of their heads.

The player role-played his disads perfectly,

as the first sentence out of his mouth during the ESP session was this:

"So, did they ever make out?" :sneaky:

You see, Big Brother is a beginning telepath of dubious origins

and was curious if the 2 heroines had tried any lesbian activites during their amnesia.

and he forgot that his basic mind link was up and running with everyone.

the Heroes are fighting Space Godzilla.

It's a nigh-unstoppable juggernaut of destruction.

Raw fighting isnt damaging it,

and its radiation and energy resistant to the extreme.

the Heroes need help!

"Call in the Avengers" someone yells.

someone else chimes back with:

"Yah, but if you minus out all the Bricks and Energy Projectors

from the Avengers roster, no-one's left !

American Ace: Well, we'll give the hun one from you!

AA (a bit flustered): Right. Um, well chin up!

Soldier: Dont say chin in front of O'Banyion!

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...

Dark rituals, an evil dagger and a dozen heads squashed by a morphing dragon... tonight's game certainly what a good one. Here are some of the more notable quotes someone actually thought to write down:

“That’s not ‘darque’… d-a-r-q-u-e?â€

-Michelle

“Uh… no.â€

-Dust Raven and Shane

“Good… ‘cause I find that a bit more than pretentious- I find that ‘dorquy’… d-o-r-q-u-y!â€

-Michelle

“Oh, look… it’s like the sadistic tooth fairy!â€

-Michelle, regarding the ninja knocking out DEMON agents’ poison teeth before interrogation

“Here is my hand… please, eat out of it.â€

-Richard, regarding Midnight’s critical success on a Conversation roll

“Wow… their new ninja is much more sociable than the other one.â€

-Shane, imagining what the press thinks of Midnight as Whisper’s replacement

“Your clothes are ridiculous, and you smell funny, too!â€

-Michelle trying to suggest a way to reduce an opponent’s EGO

“She can drive the limo… like a nail into the concrete.â€

-Dust Raven, regarding the dragon that has no transport familiarity

“I wonder if the insurance will cover claw marks…â€

¬-Dust Raven

“You successfully hit the EGO of Whisper’s foot.â€

-Dust Raven, after Touchstone abysmally fails an attack roll with Telepathy

(Regarding the DEMON agent forcibly buried up to his neck in concrete by Vagabond)

“He’s up to his neck in trouble right now…â€

-Whispering Death

“You might say he’s made a lasting impression.â€

-The Nightflier

“By the way, who is the morbane in question?â€

-Touchstone

“…Darth Malicious…â€

-Dust Raven, forgetting for a moment the morbane’s name

“If Cthulhu is a subplot, I don’t want to know what we’re really going up against!â€

-DeAnna

“Oh, I met him in the dungeon of a demonhame,

We had to beat him up just to learn his name,

And it was Lolock… l-o-l-ock… Lolockâ€

-Filk to “Lola†by group

“His name was Lolock… he was a Morbane…

With gold trim around his hood

And a knack for draining blood (pronounced like “hood†above)…â€

¬“With his cloak of darkest red,

He just wants to make you dead…â€

-Filk to “Copacabana†by group

-Dust Raven¬

-Richard

“http://www.evilmustDIE.biz, let’s make a profit here.â€

-Michelle¬

“Would you like your death painful or extra painful?â€

-Dust Raven¬

“It doesn’t hate you… it just wants to eat you!â€

¬-Whispering Death, regarding the Tooth of the Night Dragon

“There’s now a hole in the ground… that’s, oddly enough, shaped like a human.â€

-Dust Raven¬

“Oh… now we can make popsicles!â€

¬-Aminta

“Doesn’t that suck… you won’t be able to take that guy to Hell now…â€

-Dust Raven

“Only a Ninja can kill a Ninja…â€

-Aminta

“Yes, only a Ninja, fire, drowning, or that dagger can kill the Ninja.â€

-Dust Raven

Don’t melt my face…. I need it to live.

Stat Trek

GM: Now for 30 seconds of railroading so that we can go on.

Player 1: I have drugs that can stop this.

Player 2: Your drugs don’t do anything vs. GM railroading.

GM: What is your willpower?

Player 1: I hear and obey my psychic masters.

Player 2: What is it a +2?

Player 1: No a +1. They have a PSI of 30!

Player 2: Oh.

Player 1: As I said I hear and obey.

Those Psychic kids are more perverted than we thought.

Player: You mean I lost?

Player 2: Hey I got poned and set on fire so you got off easy.

Player 1: I have never beat up a little kid before.

Player 2: I have!

All Players at once: Captain’s going to look crazy!

If I could bich slap you through the communicator I would.

I am missing time I’m not stupid.

Vulcan’s don’t lie unless they do.

GM: Don’t you wish you didn’t leave the councilor back at the star base don’t you?

PC: A crazy Captain is still better.

Lt don’t’ do 3d versions of pong during the crew meeting.

I usually see the Captain once a day because he yells at me.

I want to mind control myself.

GM: Not all at once I am not a multitasking GM!

Get more of the anti-mind control drugs and give them to every one especially the Klingon.

Yes there looking for PSI fibers

Do you notice any thing wrong?

No we are mindless NPC’s.

Please do not come up to me and rip off my shirt to give me a shot.

It’s time we take this episode a little retro.

I put the Kingdom’s brain in Tupperware.

Welcome to the Endurance. I will be your stewardess. I will be handling your brain.

Incoming poneige.

The Captain’s wearing a shirt that says I own nubes.

How am I a basterd?

You mugged a guy at a truck stop on a post apocalyptic planet and left him for dead.

That was a fluke! It doesn’t count.

She sounds like an intelligence little b*(%^.

I like her captain can I keep her?

NO!

Please!

NO!!!!!!!!!

The plot monster eats your phaser.

I would like to open up a cone of woopass.

This is called fudging numbers.

They made one fatal mistake. They teleported themselves on to a planet with a man that beats up tigers.

When the console blows up all it will take with it is an ensign.

We’ll just replace that old obsolete brainwashing with this new shiny one.

If you open any of these files I will have to erase your brain.

Set course for the next story.

In tonight's WWII limited series American Ace and pals are flying a stolen German plane so they can reach the secret Alpine castle/laboratory of Dr Strauss...

American Ace: "Right gang! Let's take this baby and fly it right up the Kaiser's schnitzel hole!"

later...

Cpl Hamilton:"So Ace, where ya gonna land this thing?"

Ace: "Land? Strap on your 'chute, son. I'm gonna crash this crate right into that castle!"

Hamilton: "Aren't we supposed to take Strauss alive? What if he gets killed by the plane?"

Ace: "He won't son. He's in the basement. Krauts always got secret basement labs."

Later they ran into Die Valkyrie, a Nazi villianess simular to the Black Canary.

Gauntlet (OOG): "So she's like the Canaryan?"
