Curufea
Re: Victorian Hero Resources And just found on that community- http://www.victorianadventureenthusiast.com/ What is Victorian Adventure Enthusiast? Victorian Adventure Enthusiast is an on-line resource for material related to Victorian Era Role-Playing Games. Including styles and themes like: steampunk, weird west, alt history, occult investigation, scientific romance, vintage horror, gaslight fantasy, and classic adventure stories. This journal will be free and as such will depend on fans of the genre for it's submissions. Our goal is to be as open about submissions as possible. We look forward to receiving adventures, campaign ideas/notes, and character write ups for settings like Etherscope, Cthulhu by Gaslight, World of Darkness, Deadlands, Forgotten Futures, Unhallowed Metropolis, Victoriana, Full Light Full Steam, Castle Falkenstein, Dark Continent, Iron Kingdoms, and Space 1889. But they don't have be setting specific and we hope to see pieces using "generic" systems like GURPS, Savage Worlds, and D20. We will also have a collection of links to other great on-line resources for Victorian Era gaming as well as a glossary of "steampunk" terms, an extensive Bibliography and media reviews. tkdguy
Civil War Helicopter And a follow-up: Civil War Planes Of course, none of these designs worked in the real world, but they might in a Steampunk setting.
Cancer
The Building Mechanic's Ready Reference (1908) ... mostly intended for plumbing and steamfitting workers in the early 20th century. Lots of useful random data ... the section "Steam" starts on page 40, "Locomotives average a consumption of 3,000 gallons of water per 100 miles run"; a short ton of anthracite coal occupies 36 cubic feet of bin space; dried wood as boiler fuel ranges from about 3/4 as good (that is, you need about 30% more pounds of wood to get the same amount of steam as that ton of coal) for maple down to less than 50% for pine, and wet wood is even worse. Biggest downside: lots of stuff to read through and sift out. But it is free.
Cancer
Only barely relevant to Victorian, but still cool: Eight of Blackbeard's ship's cannons to be recovered
Kaze9999
Has anyone yet listed "The Widening Gyre" from BlackWyrm Games? I got it and liked it tremendously!
Kaze9999
Okay, this is only technically a Victorian era resource because it's an alternate history which extends Queen Victoria's reign: I read and thoroughly enjoyed the first two installments of Kate Locke's "Immortal Empire" series. Queen Victoria along with all the nobility of Europe became either vampires or werewolves during the Black Plague years and are still in power in the year 2013 as the preparations ramp up to celebrate the 175th year of her reign. Steam Punk, Urban Fantasy, Gaslight, Romance (sorry about that) with what I found to be a really interesting setting that I really wish someone had a nice wiki for, because I can totally picture running adventures in that world using the Monster Hunter International rule book. tkdguy
The Bradbury Building appeared in "Bladerunner," but it was built in the late Victorian era. It can be used in a Victorian or Steampunk setting. of the interior.
